Not sure why, but young kids now love everything about Korea like k-pop or k-drama. My teen boys have been asking for a k-style haircut as many of their friends are getting k-style. They have been giving me many K-salons' info, but most of them are expensive. A haircut for a teen by costs $80?! No, thank you! Then one day, I had a chance to chat with a Korean mom, and I mentioned that everyone wanted a K-style these days. She then recommended Gaon Hair to me. I booked an appointment for my husband and for my older son. When we arrived, we were confused as there's no Gaon sign but Salon Monette sign. I saw a small sign on the window, and confirmed that Gaon was sharing the space with Salon Monette. Inside the salon, it was nice and clean. Not fancy, but definitely much nicer than most cheap salons. It looks like not only Salon Monette/ Gaon Hair were at this location, but also other beauty related technicians were sharing the space for other things. Both Sunny and Gabby were working very fast. It could be our fault as we were 10 minutes late to the appointment time and they were fully booked throughout the day. Although they were fast, the haircuts were done nicely. Each men's haircut costs $45 including shampoo, which is quite reasonable. My younger son was there observing the haircuts. He was worried about the results, so he hesitated to book an appointment with his dad and brother, but as soon as the haircut was done, he requested an appointment. In other words, we will be back soon!

Quick haircut/trim with nice layering!

Super efficient haircut, took maybe about 15 minutes. As others have noted, this is a Korean salon but staff also speaks English without any issues. Establishment is quite clean, the particular station I was at had a "sanitized" placard on it but noticed some dust so not sure how accurate this is. Staff did wear masks the entire time and customers were spaced out. Their female haircuts run $50-60 in comparison to $80 that other places were charging.

Excellent service and beautiful result. They provide clean and safe environment with prompt and friendly service. My hair always looks so much happier and shiny after visiting my hairstylist - Ms.Sunny. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you

I have not touched my hair for the last 3-4 years. Just a few months ago I needed to take off about…read more4 inches due to it being so dry and dead which left me still with such long hair. It was all one length and boring to the T. I found some photos and really loved Yan's work. I came in staff was very friendly and said hi hello immediately even stopped cutting their clients hair to take me to the bathroom! I met Yan, totally nice guy! He set my stuff up in the locker room and he started the conversation with my hair. I initially showed him 5 different photos all looking differently and he asked me what I really wanted. I told him I honestly did not know (I was one of those customers, im so sorry yan!) but he gave me great advise! My hair was dead, there was no bringing it back to life it was dry and felt like hay. So I told him I was his blank canvas and to do what he felt was good! OMG he did! Im soooooo happy with what he did. He gave me subtle bangs (he said since ive havent had bangs for such along time he didnt want to shock me and just in case i didnt want it i could blend it into the curtain bangs he gave me). I am so inlove! I cannot wait to start styling my hair again and to start feeling cute. Pandemic hair is a big no no and a total debbie downer! so if you need anyone to make you feel like a 10 yan is the person to go to! I will upload photos in a bit :)

The salon owner and hairstylist repeatedly falsely stated their ability to perform my service when…read morethey actually had never done it before. $400 to destroy 4 years of hair growth. I was repeatedly told this salon could do Korean magic straightening with a C-curl. My messages and before/after photos are attached so people can judge the experience for themselves. Before booking, I spent several days asking questions because I was specifically trying to avoid ordinary Japanese straightening that would leave my hair flat and stick-straight. I sent reference photos, asked about maintaining root volume and the C-curl, and repeatedly confirmed what I wanted. I was told they could do it. During the appointment, I repeatedly questioned Vincent about the technique because no rollers were being used for the C-curl. Instead, after the chemical straightening process, my hair was dampened and a very hot curling iron was used to curl it. There was a significant amount of steam coming off my hair. He insisted he knew what he was doing and had been cutting hair since he was 19. After I washed and air-dried it, my hair felt severely damaged, dry and brittle, particularly through the ends. I also did not have the C-curl or root volume I had requested. My hair was severely burned and felt like dried straw or hay. What frustrated me most was what happened afterward: when I complained about not receiving the C-curl, I was told the ends would need to be permed to achieve that curl. That was exactly the service I had been trying to confirm with the salon before booking. Vincent also asked me, "Where is my tip?" when I paid cash after the original appointment, despite my dissatisfaction with the result. I returned for a corrective haircut because so much of my hair was damaged. A substantial amount had to be removed, and I ultimately cut off even more myself because damaged hair remained. I came in with long hair that had taken years to grow and ended up having to cut it dramatically shorter. The salon did ultimately give me a full refund. However, Vincent tried to recall the full refund which was extremely disrespectful and dishonest. My biggest issue is that I went out of my way to verify that they could perform this specific technique before allowing anyone to chemically process my hair. If they had told me they couldn't confidently provide the result I was requesting, I would simply have gone somewhere else. I would not return here for Korean magic straightening, Korean C-curl, Korean perm, Japanese straightening, digital perm, root-volume perm, bang perm, or another major chemical hair service. Receipts and before/after photos attached. Judge the results for yourself.

I love Mindy so much! She gave me the best perm and she always gives me the best treatment! If you…read morewant a perm go to Mindy! (She also gave me chocolate) :)

After reading reviews online, I scheduled an appointment with Mindy, the owner of this salon for…read morehair color. The experience was horrible. The salon was so dirty. She put a dirty towel that was on the dirty floor on my back and neck. I felt so grossed out. I was so shocked when this happened because I never thought it would be this dirty in a salon in Bellevue area. I thought I picked a good, reputable salon for hair color. She showed many unprofessional behaviors. The hair color result was not what I expected and I have been getting hair color at different salons for 20 years. (I changed hair stylist whenever I moved to near area in WA state. I often try to find a new hair stylist close to home or my work place.) I am not new to this process (hair coloring) at all. Normally I go to Aveda salon in other area and they were able to dye my hair from original black hair with grey hairs to lighter color in one visit without highlights. I told Mindy that I wanted the root to match the color that I had before. She said that she could do that but the color came out very dark, almost black. I could dye the hair myself dark color easily at home. The price for this was 200 dollars. -- Mindy argued that she had to dye my hair dark color to cover grey hair. My regular hair dresser at Aveda was able to turn my hair into beautiful lighter color and cover grey hair beautifully. -- I will have to go to my regular Aveda salon soon to get highlights to correct the color. -- Mindy was very talkative. She got frustrated at me because she said I moved my head a lot so I was trying to relax and not talk a lot to avoid moving my head. I didn't want to upset her. She showed that she was frustrated. However, Mindy kept asking questions unrelated to hair such as "Do you have a boyfriend?" and etc while she was washing my hair. She accidentally spit on my face a few times. She expected me to keep answering her questions even during the time she was washing my hair after she was frustrated that I moved my head, the experience was so uncomfortable for me. When I relaxed and didn't respond to answer her questions quickly, she said loudly so other customers and staff can heat that I must be frustrated with her. It was the weirdest experience I ever had at a hair salon. In 20 years that I have been getting hair color at salon, this is the first time, a hair stylist doesn't let me relax. I overheard she asked a male customer next to me about his romantic relationship and she told him to propose even when he said he wasn't ready. I don't know-- I just felt so uncomfortable with all these unprofessional behaviors. -- Her dog was very cute in the salon but that was about it. I will NEVER go back. Mindy kept blaming me for weird things. For example, after the coloring process was done, I asked her for a solution to help remove the color on my skin, it was not a big deal for me. I saw she used that solution to help remove color on my face but missed some spots. I know the color will come off when I take a shower. But Mindy started blaming me and told me that hair color on my skin was one of the marks I had on my face before hair coloring process. I don't have any abnormal mark on my face prior to this. Mindy also blamed that the towel she put on my back and neck fell off because I moved. (The towel was very dirty from the beginning. I am not even sure if it had been used with others before me.) I had to use a restroom to urinate since she left the hair color on me longer that it was supposed to be because she accepted other male customers who walked in for hair cut and perm. -- Mindy then deflected and started blaming me for scheduling an appointment with her, she said that she was kind enough to let me schedule an appointment on the same day. Then she had to take other walk-in customers and kept the color chemical compound on my hair longer than it was supposed to be?! It doesn't make sense at all. She was blaming me for supporting her small business. This is why this will be the one and only time I will do business with this salon. When I called her, it seemed like she didn't have any customer so she asked me to come in right away on Tues around noon. Then when other customers showed up, she was trying to get as many customers as possible and left the hair color on me longer than normal. Then she deflected and said she had been doing this for a long time. She knew hair. She said if I experienced hair loss, she would pay 500 dollars. SAD-- I don't want 500 dollars. I just wanted to have my hair color in a normal peaceful way. If you care about cleanliness and want a professional setting in hair salon, this might not be a place that you enjoy. I have been going to salons since I was in my early 20's because I have grey hair since I was young. Now I am almost 40. I never had issue with moving and causing a towel to fall from my neck. It was so weird that the hair stylist blamed customer for a dirty towel.
