HUGE used book store and well worth the drive!…read more Their trade in process was really straightforward - when you walk in there's a trade in counter where they ask you to put your books into bins. I had one large bag that I sorted between two bins, one for books and the other for single issue comics and DVDs/non-books. About 45 minutes later I got a text that my trade-in was ready. I came back to the same counter after browsing the store and they offered me in-store credit or a lower amount in cash. They also returned the items they didn't want and I had the option to take them with me or leave them as a donation. I think it was a fair deal for what I donated, and I opted for the in-store credit. The store has a great mix of used books, dvds, comics, vinyl, and more that's pretty well organized. I will say there's a fair amount of duplicates of certain titles and it was interesting that some were priced higher than others - so check all the labels! In general the prices were reasonable with a few exceptions - I saw a really worn copy of a new hardback that they were selling for the list price ($35!) even though it had been out long enough that other books sellers were discounting it already. But then I also got a box set of dvds for $10 and a bunch of kids books for $0.50-2.00. It was easy to spend that in-store credit!

I have been shopping at this store for years now, unfortunately todays trip will be my last. Mckays…read morehas always had inaccurate pricing, but today they were so bad that I almost thought I was dreaming. Tell me why I saw Star Wars the Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels for $18... Currently this game goes for $3.67 on pricecharting, heck when it game out in 2008 its peak was only a measly $5. Multiple gbc/gba shovelware games all overmarket, by around 10 dollars as well. In general the amount of 3-5 dollar games that they are trying to pass off as 15 - 20 dollar games is dis gracefully disgusting. The point of traveling to these stores are to get the good deals. All of the inventory they have are traded in for or donated so it makes NO sense! It seems that the employees make guesses when it comes to prices, that or they are being told to overprice by upper management. By the gaming section there was a sign that claimed that all of the consoles and equipment is tested beforehand by "gamers with over 30 years of experience" whatever that means. I got an Xbox One Kinect from them back in December, and worked normally. A couple days later I wanted to try using its mic functionality, was not functioning. So it was never fully tested by "gamers with over 30 years of experience" lol. The worst part is that they give you a 3 day warranty... it's not like people have kids, jobs, or other commitments I guess. The media (dvds and blu rays) were also overpriced per usual. Usually only by 5-10 bucks. My main discrepancy today was that I saw multiple dvds and blu rays with dirt and filth smattered on the covers. Your telling me that they have the audacity to up charge, and still refuse to even spend 10 seconds wiping the cover with a lysol wipe? Is it that hard to do? Disgusting! I can't speak on their book pricing as I am not well versed but pretty much everything else is overpriced in this store. It really sucks because these type of stores are supposed to be for lower income families who can't buy new. And instead is being treated like a greedy gaming convention booth. I genuinely feel bad for kids nowadays who want to start growing a small gaming collection post pandemic. With greedy "thrift" stores like this, even the shovel ware games are off-limits.

They said that when booking it tells me what I'm getting- I swear it didn't say anything about pay it for the extra time they spend setting up and leaving. I had 3:30-6 pm reserved. They started packing up at 5 pm! Also they don't have a hotspot so there is no way of playing games like Fortnite or Roblox. They didn't mention this ahead of time. Other companies have this as a standard feature. They were rude and tried to get me to pay an extra $200 for more time. Don't recommended very disappointed. The company praises military but we are a military family and they screwed is

However, he didn't arrive until 2pm, I called prior 3X's he sent me to voicemail. I texted him, he responded I'm on my way at 1:45pm, and I replied "please let me know when you're on your way so that I can move the cars that I had parked" until he arrived, he didn't reply. He finally arrived at 2pm, once they arrived, we were all rushing to move 3 separate cars, once he finally parked his 70ft Ultimate Gaming Truck he put it in park, and we thought the party would start with 5-10 minutes after he arrived, but it ended up taking alittle over 30 minutes. He couldn't get his truck to start back up, he opened up his rusted pick up truck's hood & kept it open & instead of informing us of the technical difficulties, he asked if we had an outside plug out of our house so that he can plug his gaming trailer to generate the electricity to his truck. I told him that I was unaware that he would need to use my electricity for his gaming system, bc I was already hosting a huge party inside the house (as well) he said that he wouldn't be using my electricity he just needed it to generate the system and that once it's kicking that he will unplug right after. They finally got everything to work at 2:30, he said that he'll extend the party an extra 30 minutes I informed him that this is a kids party and it'll be dark 4:45pm and I would prefer the kids to be inside the house by then, but I was like okay cool whatever that works. At 3pm the electricity in the downstairs area shuts down in the house, we didn't think anything of it bc we were under the impression that they removed the extension cord that they had plugged up to start the generator in the first place. We just thought that there was just a lot going on due to the amount of people that were in it. At 4:05pm the electricity shuts off AGAIN!!!! But for the entire home that's when I came outside and one of his son's snuck to unplug the extension cord plugged up to the outside of the home, I approached him about it, and he said that we needed to generate the truck bc his truck had broke down and that because it was so cold outside it was having a hard time generating itself (mind u 45 degrees, not freezing). I reminded him that in the beginning of the party you stated that you only needs to generate to get everything started. But now you're telling me that you've needed it the entire time??!!!. I feel as though you should've allowed me to make that choice on my own now my electric bill is going to be through the roof. I would've cancelled the entire game truck surprise bc most of the kids were playing b-ball in the drive way and the other half were having a Beyblades Tournament in the house. There were only about 6 kids on the gaming bus. The party was over at 4:30, so I never got my whole 2hours, I paid full price $426.00. I gathered a total of 20 children (ages 7-10) and got them all a pixie stick $2.99 each. He didn't offer any discounts, for the time not used, due any inconvenience. The owner of the beat up truck didn't have great social skills, he didn't look like he even showered he was on his phone the majority of the time. His teenagers were the ones assisting the few children that were on the trailer. I feel as though, with great customer service, he would've won me over, but with the lack of communication, this experience was trash and next time I will use ANOTHER GAMING BUS.

WOW! I was really surprised to read all the negative reviews…read moreabout this place. I'm glad I didn't see them before otherwise I most likely would have passed on using Mr. Video. I actually had a great experience. I found them online and requested an estimate. Someone from the sales dept replied immediately. I decided to use them and when I arrived to pick up my equipment I saw the screen I reserved was much larger than I had imagined. The receptionist and the AV person switched it out for me without complaint. I arrived to return the equipment an hour before they opened not realizing they didn't open until 10am. I was sick with the flu and trying to hurry to a doctors appointment as soon as possible. I called and spoke with someone who said the AV person was on his way and she would let him know to come early if he could. 20 minutes later I had turned everything in and was on my way to the doctor. I would absolutely recommend this vendor. They were friendly, professional and knowledgeable with amazing customer service. Kudos!

This…read moreorganization rented a pair of stereo speakers with built in amplifiers (Mackie Speakers 15". SRM 450) from Mr. Video on July 3rd 2010 for use on our float in the annual Palisades 4th July parade. After around one hour of use in the parade one of the speakers emitted smoke, caught fire and then stopped working. According to the user manual the speakers have a thermal protection circuit that is supposed to cut the power to the amp and speaker if it overheats. This circuit malfunctioned causing the built in amp to burn up. We continued with the remaining speaker but the effectiveness of the float was compromised. Worse still, upon return of the equipment Mr Video charged $600.00 for a new replacement speaker. This is akin to a customer experiencing a roadside breakdown on a rental car and then being billed for the repair! The speakers were brand new and subject to a 5 year warranty in case of failure so it would appear that Mr. Video may have been attempting to have the unit repaired under warranty and in addition be paid for a brand new unit. After several months of fruitless correspondence with Mr Video the credit card company agreed that an injustice had occurred and charged back the $600.00. Also the units were powered from a car battery then through a DC to AC inverter. This inverter emitted a very loud buzzing interference throughout the operation of the speakers. A replacement inverter was provided but the problem repeated. Needless to say we won't be using this unscrupulous outfit ever again.

Heads up! They close at 8pm during the week! The hours are not updated!…read more I drove down here which was over an hour away from Fort Meade to pick up an order that no other store closer to me had. I really wanted this item but how horrible to arrive to the store only to find out it was closed. My confirmation email and their phone recording message states they're open until 9:00 p.m. I later found out as if it wasn't obvious, the message was not updated so I had to drive back home. Over a 3-hour drive and did not receive my order. The next day I called customer service to explain what had happened and the first response I received was I could go back to pick it up. Are you kidding me? I already know that but seeing how I already spent three hours of my time the night prior trying to pick it up, that does not suffice me. After my customer service representative spoke with the store on the phone who agreed to hold the item for me until I could come pick it up, I still was not satisfied. How was this helping me? I had to suggest it being shipped to me. I then realized my customer service representative wasn't too bright. When they got back from hold speaking with the store they informed me that the store cannot personally ship it. So I had to ask my representative if they could ship it from their warehouse or wherever. The representative finally looked and saw there wete no more available. They were completely sold out as well. Now I had no choice but to go down to the store to pick up my item. Why all this hassle over an item? This was the only original I could find after searching the internet for 2 weeks. I let my customer service representative know this was still not okay and I wanted to be compensated for my time and gas. They had to speak with their manager who agreed to give me a $10 gift card towards my purchase. Since I had no other option to purchase an original anywhere else, I decided to go ahead and make the drive back down to pick up the item. We did learn since it was sold out everywhere else the price had decreased again and my item would end up being pretty much free. Experiencing rush hour traffic this time, convincing my son to drive, and using my EZ pass, we finally arrived again at the mall to pick up the item. I'm able to walk into the store this time because they are open and notice they do have a good selection of Harry Potter items that I couldn't help looking at but had to put down because they were a little expensive. Very unique but a little expensive no less. I go to the counter to pick up my order and when the cashier retrieves it and puts it on the table I am in shock and disbelief! The item I ordered was not what was pictured on line as the original but a version I could have purchased anywhere else. I could not believe it! Of course there was nothing that they could do, although she did confirm this you was the same as my order number. I did show her the picture online of the item and how it did not match the picture I had but of course there was nothing else she could do. Wow! I took the item and my son and I roamed around the mall to await the traffic. When we finally left it was raining and of course that meant even more traffic for our drive back home. This was a catastrophic experience. Yes it definitely could be worse but is that what we want to tell ourselves as consumers when we purchase an item we've searched for and already had difficulty obtaining? No!

The store is interesting in the aspect that it is divided into two section with stairs. A lot of confusion could go on with that. I went to the fiction section because that is where I figured the book series would be. However, it was not. My next venture was to go to the Young Adult section to search. I just wasn't finding it. I made my way to the register to find someone to help. Because I didn't see anyone on the floor that looked like they worked there. When I told them what I was looking for, and I was specific here with it being a series, they proceeded to take me to the section to a single book. I was like, yeah, great. I had to act like I was appreciative that they brought me to a single book and not the series. When I asked about the series again I was finally told they didn't have the complete series. They basically wasted both of our time by taking a journey to a section that didn't have what I wanted. I can see why so many of these are closing up shop.
