Heads up! They close at 8pm during the week! The hours are not updated! I drove down here which was over an hour away from Fort Meade to pick up an order that no other store closer to me had. I really wanted this item but how horrible to arrive to the store only to find out it was closed. My confirmation email and their phone recording message states they're open until 9:00 p.m. I later found out as if it wasn't obvious, the message was not updated so I had to drive back home. Over a 3-hour drive and did not receive my order. The next day I called customer service to explain what had happened and the first response I received was I could go back to pick it up. Are you kidding me? I already know that but seeing how I already spent three hours of my time the night prior trying to pick it up, that does not suffice me. After my customer service representative spoke with the store on the phone who agreed to hold the item for me until I could come pick it up, I still was not satisfied. How was this helping me? I had to suggest it being shipped to me. I then realized my customer service representative wasn't too bright. When they got back from hold speaking with the store they informed me that the store cannot personally ship it. So I had to ask my representative if they could ship it from their warehouse or wherever. The representative finally looked and saw there wete no more available. They were completely sold out as well. Now I had no choice but to go down to the store to pick up my item. Why all this hassle over an item? This was the only original I could find after searching the internet for 2 weeks. I let my customer service representative know this was still not okay and I wanted to be compensated for my time and gas. They had to speak with their manager who agreed to give me a $10 gift card towards my purchase. Since I had no other option to purchase an original anywhere else, I decided to go ahead and make the drive back down to pick up the item. We did learn since it was sold out everywhere else the price had decreased again and my item would end up being pretty much free. Experiencing rush hour traffic this time, convincing my son to drive, and using my EZ pass, we finally arrived again at the mall to pick up the item. I'm able to walk into the store this time because they are open and notice they do have a good selection of Harry Potter items that I couldn't help looking at but had to put down because they were a little expensive. Very unique but a little expensive no less. I go to the counter to pick up my order and when the cashier retrieves it and puts it on the table I am in shock and disbelief! The item I ordered was not what was pictured on line as the original but a version I could have purchased anywhere else. I could not believe it! Of course there was nothing that they could do, although she did confirm this you was the same as my order number. I did show her the picture online of the item and how it did not match the picture I had but of course there was nothing else she could do. Wow! I took the item and my son and I roamed around the mall to await the traffic. When we finally left it was raining and of course that meant even more traffic for our drive back home. This was a catastrophic experience. Yes it definitely could be worse but is that what we want to tell ourselves as consumers when we purchase an item we've searched for and already had difficulty obtaining? No! read more

What a debacle it was coming here. I was searching for a set of books for my one niece as a gift and I figured that this would be a good place to start. The store is interesting in the aspect that it is divided into two section with stairs. A lot of confusion could go on with that. I went to the fiction section because that is where I figured the book series would be. However, it was not. My next venture was to go to the Young Adult section to search. I just wasn't finding it. I made my way to the register to find someone to help. Because I didn't see anyone on the floor that looked like they worked there. When I told them what I was looking for, and I was specific here with it being a series, they proceeded to take me to the section to a single book. I was like, yeah, great. I had to act like I was appreciative that they brought me to a single book and not the series. When I asked about the series again I was finally told they didn't have the complete series. They basically wasted both of our time by taking a journey to a section that didn't have what I wanted. I can see why so many of these are closing up shop. read more

Bought a book for my mom and then 30 minutes later I surprised her. She told me she already had the book at home and said that I should go return it. We went back and the worker asked me for a receipt but they never gave it to me he threw it away so I told them. They said the best they could do is give me a gift card but I don't shop there a lot and I was just looking for that book. I just took the gift card and got 4 dollars off I guess for taxes but it would have been better if it went to my account. 5/24/21 Books A Million. A name I don't see to offten. Still I liked looking at the books that caught my eye. One such book is by Mark Greaney and it is the first Gray Man book. It looks interesting. The last time I heard of the gray man, it was in Robert Parker's Spenser novels. This wouldn't be the same gray man, but you never know. I came across this book while looking for more Assassin's Creed novels. I haven't found it yet. Might have to ask for assistance. I see a section of signed copy books. One of them is Megan Rapinoe. I had no idea who she was, but I got the idea she played Football/Soccer. My suspicion was confirmed reading about her. I also wasn't surprised to learn she came out about her sexuality. The year is 2021 and who you are attracted to should be what defines you. Judge by ones actions, not by their sexuality. Anyhow, that's my thought on it. I might have to read her book though. Love reading books, but if I stay here, I will be here a long time. Gotta move on. read more

Awesome book shop. It's size and comportment and compactness can easily give snobby Barnes and Noble (although it's a neat shop too) a run for book-buyers' money! Store was tidy when we went in first thing on a Sunday morning. The selection, like all BAM locations, is exceptional. I found the academic planner I wanted--I always got to BAM for my planners because their selection is extensive. The cashier was friendly and we bonded over Harry Potter's birthday. Books. Tech. Toys. More. At least, that's what the signage states. Plenty of books, toys and other media but seriously lacking in any tech products. With that said, there is ample variety of merchandise/products for this store. Ample space. Quiet compared to other areas in Potomac Mills. Usually clean & organized. Unfortunately, there is no overlaying key/guide/map for the store. Staff members are usually friendly, willing to assist, and knowledgeable of their inventory. This store is close to a mall entrance so you can get in and out conveniently. Unlike their competition, there isn't much seating if any or any cafe/coffee offerings/espresso services, despite earlier reviews of this place. It's a pretty big bookstore, located inside the mall at Potomac Mills. Like most chain bookstores, prices for books and magazines, are pretty high. I just look at the discount stuff when I go. Mind you, I'm not a mall person, so I'm rarely there. It's got a nice layout, upper level and lower. It's got a nice, chill ambience. Employees that I personally encounter, are not especially friendly. Still, it's a nice quiet getaway in the mall. read more

I hate this place so much that I'm never going back. Customer service? There's none. Their return policy is ludicrous! I received a duplicate gift and needed to return it. I had 2 weeks from the time of purchase but because it was a gift I didn't realize that until they told me at the store when I was 10 days past. Most places give you 30 days with a receipt. (I had a receipt and admittedly the deadline was printed there.) They did give me store credit--though I was told that I was lucky they were doing so. Note to BAM: you are lucky you have customers, not that customers are lucky to have you. I love bookstores and truly miss the Borders that was here in Woodbridge. I am hoping that BAM will improve their customer service but until they do, I recommend using Amazon instead. read more

Love this place. Great for peace from the insane mall to stop and read with a cup of coffee. Always a stop for me when I visit Potomac.

Love, love, love this place, they recently moved and expanded their store, it's huge they have a huge selection of magazines, gifts, religious gifts/books they have the top best sellers right now in the front. This place is awesome! It's clean and very well organized I was asked almost immediately when I walked in if I needed help finding anything. They had newer trends such as adult coloring books and mommy erotica (for those who read that stuff) and I really like the best sellers upfront. This is my favorite place to hit at that mall. I miss book stores in mall so I make sure to give this place my business when I go there. Let's keep them in business. read more

When I first arrived I needed assistance. The one lady I saw there was all over the place, but when I asked for her assistance she didn't seem to want to help me. I was told to wait for some other guy, who took about ten minutes to arrive. He immediately began to ring up a few people, that came after me. Then he assisted some man find a book. Although, he came after me too. I purchased several books but was told they didn't have the main one I was looking for. Furthermore the guy told me they had it online, but I'd be changed more if they had to order it online for me. It seemed that he was just trying to get rid of me, instead of helping me. I went home and order the book. The Marine Corps Survival Guide, and Everything You Need To Know to Live Through Marine Corps Boot Camp. A few days later I received notice that the order was being shipped. The problem was, the book they were shipping me was "Alice in Wonderland" and they were charging me almost twice as much. I immediately sent an email to the BAM Customer service, advising them of the situation. A few days later I received an email from BAM asking me to rate how well their customer service department handle the problem. Needless to say I tried to report that I wasn't happy. Of course I found out I couldn't send the negative into. Once I pressed the button to advise them I was extremely unhappy, I found out the system was made so my negative info could not be sent. Clever idea. Ask for a review, but ensure only the positive info can be sent. Once I get this book problem resolved, I don't believe there is any way this worthless company can ever get me back in their good graces..... read more

They had up, for weeks, a standing sign advertising a story time for children the first Saturday of every month. I made a note of today's advertised story time almost a month ago, because it was a book from a series my son particularly enjoys, and we showed up right on time. To find out that the staff knew absolutely NOTHING about it, despite the fact that the sign was still there in the store. To the credit of the first saleswoman I asked about it, she said, "We COULD do a story time," and went back to get the children's specialist. Unfortunately, they then decided that due to lack of seating space or benches or whatever, they could not in fact do it after all. My son was really disappointed, and so was I - we found other things to do, granted, but it leaves a bad taste in one's mouth when a store advertises something and doesn't even try (except for the one saleswoman) to live up to it, and when the staff doesn't even have a clue what they have been advertising on a large sign prominently placed by a front window.
