The employees here are VERY knowledgeable. I was low on cash last Christmas, but wanted to get my 5 year-old a Wii. I traded in my play station. I feel the manager was sympathetic of my situation. He helped me find a few games that are popular with children one that was educational but fun, one that was more just for fun, and Mario Kart for us both to play. Hey can a dad get anything Nintendo without Mario? Hehe he set me up with two controllers and explained the system to me. Other stores may have a crazy high selection, and even slightly lower prices (though I shopped around and the prices aren't that different,) but the service is spectacular!

Between Vintage Stock and Gamer's HQ, I would find no reason to shop here. If you've hit those two stores and had no success finding what you're looking for, I'd say proceed with caution here, and make sure you check out pricecharting online before you buy anything so you don't end up overspending. Also, I get that it's a used video game store, but frankly it kind of had a weird smell... I would definitely check the other gaming stores in the area before coming here, and even then, I'd buy online before coming back to this store. Definitely a last resort for me.

The part owner was very friendly and took time to explain how he cleaned each used record before he put them up for sale at his shop. It paid off in the quality of the play back of this record. The moment I walk threw the door, incense hit my nose and I was completely taken back in time where music and the feel of the times of record players and dancing and hanging out with family overwhelmed me. They had original recordings of all of the historic artist from Roberta Flack to the Beatles. The Grateful Dead, Elvis, Carlos Santana the list goes on. I even spoke with the guy who worked the shop who gave me a history of the place and where I can actually purchase a record player. Seeing all of this brought me back to the sound of vinyl music that is missing today and I'm seriously considering purchasing a record player and being able to collect some of the albums that I grew up listening to. If you are a flower child or an 80s child or even a 60s civil rights or hippie child, this is the store for you. Some memories are worth keeping forever and this is one of those places that captures those memories. If you're ever into collecting priceless recordings of your favorite artist this is the way to go!!

Having grown up in Lawrence when you had Kief's and…read moredoing record hunting the first time around I found it rather soul soothing to go into a place again and thumb through a thousand records again. Some are new, some are used. Place is packed with records from one end to the other and you have to navigate in/around the people there which is how it was done in the old days. I remember finding 'The Information Society' in downtown Lawrence as a teen, was funny to me in that I was picking up They Might Be Giants first release, and the Big Science release from Laurie Anderson. Things I did in the late 1980s once before. I hate feeling like some old person saying 'back in my day' but there is a sense of contentment to flip through a huge selection of sounds, seeing things and deciding if based just on the cover if it's worth spending your hard earned money on. Something playing over head selected by someone who works there, finding something new, it was a shared experience that I think we miss now with everything algorithmic and solo. The only downside being that it's hard to balance a solid selection in a physical location, I'm sure compared to 'online' but there's nothing quite like flipping through records and finding something you were looking for. Solid pricing for a retail location in downtown, you're not going to buy 11 records for a penny like Columbia house but you won't be disappointed with the selection and the hunt.

Also a good selection of 45s which you don't always see around the area. If you live in KC and are looking for records, make a day trip to Lawrence and the Love Garden.
