It seems like with all the changes with Gamestop, the locations are becoming scarce.... the staff/employees have always been friendly and patient (especially dealing with my sometimes indecisive child). The rewards system has changed quite a bit and the free coupon is no longer allowed to be used on gift cards, which my son woukd use to fix his gaming habit, now he fixes his pokemon card habit. There are so many cards that they pop up under the couch in bed. Kidding, kidding, my son can't get enough and always on the lookout for a "shiny" - he did end up getting good cards from this location! I mean, GameStop overall is pretty bad at everything game related. However this location specifically at 8626 Jamacha Blvd Spring Valley, CA 91977 is without a doubt the worst GameStop I've ever set foot in. All GameStop's have overpriced stock, underpriced trade-in value, and they often have more plushies & t-shirts than actual video games unless you're looking to buy the last 10 years of madden nfl games consecutively. But on top of what you can expect at any location, this one also rarely answers their phone, when they do they can't even correctly search & identify inventory from their computer, and the customer service is severely lacking. Checking out with a single new game shouldn't take 15+ minutes with no other customers even in the store. And it wouldn't if they didn't insist on talking your ear off about their "deals", and asking you every other sentence if you'd like that game pre-owned, or what's your phone number, or would you like to give us more money to sign up for our useless rewards program. Regardless, I'll never be back to this location. From now on, I'll just order online rather than waste my time in person. But to GameStop management, I'd recommend you guys maybe trade-in these two for a couple of solid employees. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I specifically downloaded this app to make this awful review on this store and their management. I bought a brand new Xbox series S 1 TB from GameStop on October 27,2023. I payed $349.99 for this and purchased the one year warranty for $40. My total on receipt comes to $389.00 before tax. 6 months later on April 21st, 2024. My HDMI port broke. I play this console maybe once a week. I called this store to request it to be replaced under warranty. They informed me that, because my receipt does not show "warranty-$40" separately from the total price of the console, that it cannot be covered under warranty. I called corporate GameStop and complained and a corporate supervisor 3 way called me and the manager KEITH and informed Keith that clearly a mistake was made on their behalf and that it is up to managers discretion whether or not I would be allowed to replace my Xbox under warranty. Keith the manager at this location, denied the request. Now I have to buy a brand new Xbox AGAIN. I did my job as a customer to provide my phone number, name and email with $40 extra dollars for the warranty. I was also informed that Andrew (who was the Individual that sold me the console) no longer works there. I wonder why. Clearly he didn't do his job correctly or he pocketed my $40 I don't know. Awful customer service l. Terrible manager. I will never buy anything from this store again and I recommend you don't either. read more

The lack of customer service at this location blows me away. I've been to many GameStops. I'm a pro member and I've blown so much money at GameStop. This is the only location with the most careless employees. I've had multiple occasions with these employees. The one that just did it for me was last night when it was 10 minutes before closing and I wanted to buy $150 external hard drive. (I know it's kind of a d move to show up 10 minutes before closing). Anyways I showed up and the shutters were halfway close and the doors were shut but I could see someone behind the counter so I walked up to the door and when we made eye contact (some green haired girl) literally jumped down and hid behind the counter. So I usually like going to this gamestop because the location is very convenient and close by but the service has always been kind of lacking. So I show up to turn in a console and try to pay the rest of my bill toward a preorder I walk up theres no open sign blinking and I cant tell if they're open it is 1030 am I know the store opens at 10. I walk in and I see someone at the desk I'm like cool let's get this done with. I hear the dood say shiiiit and I'm like huh that's weird hows it going man doesn't say much back.. doesn't even great me as I walk into the store. k cool uh just want to trade a console please. Stares at me holds his hand out not saying anything not a yeah sure what console is it or sure or asking me anything about it now heres where I goofed up I didnt bring the correct parts for it for them to accept it you know like cables controller etc etc. So I was like aw my bad man can I just trade a game in that i brought and pay the difference for my bill? He goes shiiit again under his breath and I'm like uh ok so we get that awkward thing done I pay my bill and for some reason AFTER he takes my money and what not hes like hey you know your pro membership reward things gonna expire would you like to renew it? So that was the first time he actually kinda tried to help me or do some customer service or whatever i decline i dip here I am now writing this review. The first time going, i needed a headset for 30$ and the guy behind the counter said for 10$ more i can get a keypad also, i figured why not. He rang it up and the keypad was 40$. BEWARE OF MANDO!!!!! I go into this GameStop to trade some games and I am helped by a rude unethical employee that calls himself MANDO. I had 5 games to trade and he tells me I get $42 store credit. I ask for a breakdown of each game and he starts to give me attitude. He quickly blurts out the numbers and I realize it adds up to over $50. MANDO and I are arguing as the GameStop phone rings and his coworker answers "Thanks for calling GameStop where if you trade more than 3 games in you qualify for an additional 10-30 dollars. I go wait a minute, I am not getting any extra money. Mando says yes you got 20 dollars. Finally Mando admits he charged me 5 dollars per game for scratches (there were no scratches). I say Wow man that is a little harsh. I have never been charged any fees for scratches at GameStop and I have been going for 10 years. He says if I don't like it I can go somewhere else. He insists all Game stops will charge me same fees. I ask for my games back and leave. I go to GameStop on Broadway and Magnolia to trade my games in. They give me 56 dollars for my games plus the additional 20 dollars from their promotion. Overall, I got $36 more dollars from not dealing with MANDO the Con Artist. I will not be going back to this GameStop because of Mando. He should not be working in any kind of customer service position. read more

This weekend my son bought a audio cord and a playstation remote charger. The cashier was very helpful he even told me I need to start turning In my old games so that I can get credit that way I can save on whatever I purchase next time. Got home and everything worked. Customer service here is not so great. Went in on black friday after the crowd was all gone. It was just my friend and I there and there were about 4 people working there. These people were standing around talking to each other, not being helpful. I asked them if they had a specific item and the guy at the register said "yea, I saw some over there" and just pointed in the air. I looked over in the area he pointed to and all around the tiny store and did not see any of the item I was looking for. He did not show me where he thought the item was or help me and neither did the other employees that were busy standing around talking to each other. First off, let me say that the staff are so nice here! They are always asking me if I need any help and informing me of the upcoming games. Also they don't hide the deals they run because they want to sell me games a good prices. Gamestop is a great place to still physically browse games and choose from a great selection of new and used merchandise. This place does well with helping customers as well. My only concern is the lack of attention to detail when selling used or trade-in games. They come dirty sometimes and may or may not work. I think it is good to find small gems in their $20 and under boxes, but it is sometimes at the cost of having to return for replacement disks. read more

The store was a bit dead maybe because this location isn't very well known. I actually didn't find out about this place until this weekend. Like others said, the customer service here is horrible, specifically with one employee. There were two employees working when I went in to get Pokemon Sun and Moon today. I spoke to a young lady first and she was helpful in getting what I wanted. While ringing me up, she did her spiel about signing up for a Gamestop rewards card and I told her I wasn't interested. That's when another employee, an older man, chimed in... "What, you don't like free?" "No, I just want these games today." Female employee, "Would you be interested in pre-ordering (some Mario game)?" "No thank you, I just want pokemon today." Male employee, "so do you only play pokemon?" "Yes", I answered. This wasn't entirely true but I didn't want the conversation to continue. "If you like pokemon so much, why didn't you pre-order it?"
