So, I went in here with my husband to get the new God of War game. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by Antonio. He welcomed us and made us aware of all the sales going on that day and gave us a little rundown on where things were in the store. He checked on us and asked if we had any questions. Then when we checked out, he made sure the games were in good condition and fully explained the return policy. He was just so nice. It made me appreciate Game Stop. My Nintendo 2DS is getting dated, for my eyes that is. I need an upgrade so when I called about the Nintendo Switch Lite, they had them in stock. Only in the Coral Color. That was fine by me. I went into the store and was greeted by an employee named Berto who was very friendly in helping me find the system I wanted to buy. I paid for my system and he asked me if I wanted to renew my membership or buy any games along with it, I politely declined and he was content with that. Was maybe 6 minutes in the store and walked out. In the mean time I'm doing Gamefly for my games until I get a feel for what I like and then may come back to Gamestop to perhaps get a used copy of the game for my collection. I just spoke to Richard over at GameStop. He could not have been any nicer or a more knowledgeable person. I called three other GameStops prior and they didn't really seem to have the time of day for me. I explained to Richard that I would like to play video games with my father through some kind of Wi-Fi or Internet capability. He didn't speak to me like I was the R word. He was able to concisely breakdown exactly what I needed without making me feel like I was a goob. My 88 year old father who I want to play some type of Wi-Fi video games with at a different location. I mean, what could go wrong? I came in for a PS5 controller a week ago and was told I should get a warranty because they only had used ones and they don't test them. I got home and to my kids' dismay, the controller wouldn't stop drifting to the left and was unusable. I wasn't able to get back until this past weekend and the only PS5 controller was pink and $10 more (my daughter was happy about that). An employee named Pepe helped me swap it out and transferred the warranty to the pink controller. This is by far my favorite Gamestop. I've been coming here for years now. The employees that work the A.M. shift already know/recognize me as a regular. I always reserve big game titles and I only buy games that I plan on keeping. Paying in full keeps me from holding up the line when a certain title is released. When the game comes out. I go in. Show my receipt. They hand me my product and I'm out the door. I'm always here at 10 a.m. when it opens. In & out! One thing that does bother me. Are the little kids and teenagers that show up on launch day of a big title game with their parents trying to sell 10 or more games hoping to get enough to buy a new games. This is so annoying because they holds up and create LONG lines for DAYS lol For a true gamer that is unacceptable. They should have a separate line called "I can't afford a new game so I'm here with my mom/dad selling my old games so I can get a new game and hold up the line" lol I know some of you out there feel me on this. read more

I first came to this store about 4 months ago on a fluke because I was visiting Sally's next door. I was with my son and he wanted to stop in and ask a question. When we walked in we were greeted right away and my son began to barrage with questions. They patiently answered each one and so I knew when I was ready to spend money, I would come there . Fast forward to last week. I went in and spoke to Cory asked a million more questions. After leaving that game stop I felt elated and listened to. I felt like someone understood my need to protect my son from bad content, but also guidance to choose good games. I totally adore the service and energy of game stop bayfaire. Unlike the other reviews that my fellow Yelpers had left for this Gamestop location, I don't really have anything to exchange when it comes to their trading policy. Nor do I even buy a gaming console system. Not even a damn video game I can buy either since my budget is so limited. Although I honestly wish I had an existing Nintendo DS since I saw Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth being in a locked up display case. Damn. I really wish I had a DS. I would've bought that game in a heartbeat since I've been meaning to play Persona Q for a while now. Anyways. I came here with two friends so I can buy myself a pre-paid card for League of Legends. And yes, I play that sh*tty game. I was primarily focused on finding a $50 LoL RP card but I guess they didn't have it in stock or it just doesn't exist at this location. Ended up buying two $25 LoL RP cards instead. They had $10 cards, but I wasn't interested in them unless I was broke af and desperately needed that pre-paid card. Pfft. Before I headed to the line, I was browsing around the store a bit. There was a LOT of Funko Pops at this location. I don't have the slightest interest in Funko Pops at all, but they were right on display when you walked into the store. There was even more Funko Pops near the apparel section. If you're an avid collector of Funko Pops, then swing right by at this particular Gamestop! Otherwise, look somewhere else that peaks your interest when you're in the store. Annnd, that's what I did. I moved along from looking at the various Funko Pops and made my way throughout the store. There were a bunch of mixed plushies on a rack but it looked extremely messy. From Minecraft, to Pokemon plushies. I'm very disappointed that they didn't have a Froakie plushie. I would had also buy that in a heartbeat. This location isn't even huge, so don't expect a large store with a wide ass variety of products. I haven't been to the "biggest" Gamestop ever yet. So I'm just going to casually assume that most locations are in a tight setting. Besides Persona Q capturing my attention, I also saw a Deadpool T-Shirt that looked really nice. But the shirts they were selling at this store were fucking expensive. Almost ~$20 for one tee. Hot damn. I can get cheaper character tees at Walmart for a better price.. I didn't buy one, of course. But I kinda wished I had more money to get that shirt. I love me some Deadpool. Mmm mmm mm. Store was meh. I can come here again whenever I'm able to just so I can buy pre-paid cards only. I gave it an extra star (3 in total, originally 2.5) because my friend was very happy that he was able to play DS games again. The last time i came here,The first thing came to mind is disgust and disappointed on what I've seen so far. Once again they didn't take to heart that they should have removed any apparel merchandises! I won't ever go to this, or any other GameStop again. Their absurd policies make the entire experience genuinely unpleasant so I'll spend my money elsewhere, and will not renew my rewards subscription. When trading in games if you don't buy anything (or don't buy enough) then you MUST get the balance on a gift card instead of simply putting it on your existing profile/account. If you're like me and don't carry around a GameStop gift card everywhere you go, you end up with a pile of them. Ridiculous. Just put the credit in the system instead of creating unnecessary waste with plastic gift cards that'll just end up in a landfill. That's irresponsible business, plain and simple. And while we're on the subject of trading in, if you end up with a game that's new and still in the shrink wrap, like the one I got at a garage sale but wasn't interested in, they won't touch it. Very annoying. Another problem was asking for a game recommendation, because they clearly have no idea what they're talking about. I was asked what games I like, so I rattled off a few titles, and was careful to mention what I don't like, and sure enough the game they recommended was terrible. So, my husband went behind my back and bought our son an Xbox for his birthday. My son had discovered a game that he talked non-stop about. He had the app for the iPad, but he wanted to be able to play the real thing. After my husband confessed to the purchase, I, of course, had to buy the game. I headed over to Game Stop after finding that Target does not have this popular game. I immediately spotted the game on the shelf, but noticed that it is what is called a downloadable game. It basically means you pay the money and receive a code to download the game from the Xbox. This seems convenient, but it was the only game I was buying. I wouldn't have anything to wrap. I grabbed a box off the shelf anyway in hopes that I could convince them to let me buy it or have it. I just wanted something to wrap. The line was a bit slow even though there were only 3 people ahead of me and 2 cashiers. The two guys in front of me noticed my purchased and let me go ahead of them; I didn't even ask, I guess they weren't in a hurry. When it was my turn I inquired about the box and the guy went to check a stack of empty boxes. When he mentioned that he was checking to see if they had another for the shelf, I pointed out that they still had another 4 already on the shelves. He was instantly happy to give me the box as well. This store had friendly, helpful staff and friendly customers. I'll be happy to shop here in the future for my son. read more

I was very surprised that they didn't have this location, but then again it makes sense. This place is no bueno. I do respect the fact that the workers are VERY knowledgeable about everything video games. That's awesome if you have lots of questions, need help finding the right game, what's compatible with what system, etc. What really grinds my gears is the fact that they constantly try to up-sell you with lame crap. They have this whole speech memorized so when you want to make a purchase, you're doomed! In my head I'm like, 'Dude, shut up about subscriptions and game reservations. I boycotted GameStop for several years after the Deus Ex controversy when they opened new games and removed a competitor's coupon and did not disclose it. I thought I'd give them another chance and my boycott is now renewed. My last purchase the cashier added accident insurance to my game without asking me. After declining politely the obligatory preorder and accessory upsell (which I get I've been a cashier) he stated very matter-of-factly "That's $68.99 with insurance." So sleazy. read more

I so have always wanted to be able to give them 2 stars simply because their staff is knowledgeable about games, which they are, but I just can't do it. The issues with this "shop" are too corrupting of the experience of just trying to buy a game that it overshadows any good that could come from this place. I will provide anecdotal experience, as simple examples. First of all, this particular brick & mortar Gamestop (used to be EB Games, in the mall-proper, and when they were, they were the BEST for miles in any direction) is so tiny that they carry almost no PC games in stock, except customer sell-backs and the occasional viral game/MMO, like World of Warcraft or Guild Wars. Second, the shop is very poorly organized. There's really not much to add...it's just...a mess, organization-wise. Now, the fun story. I was an avid World of Warcraft player and always liked to pre-order the expansions. However, when it came time to pre-order one of them, I didn't have the opportunity (money was tight...lots of bills and my income wasn't great at the time). Two weeks before the midnight store openings, I called corporate and verified this particular store would not only be open at midnight, but that I could actually, and I verified with the regional manager of Gamestop, buy TWO copies of the game, or one Collector's Edition and one regular copy, at the midnight sale, should there be any left by the time I got in the door. I went to the store at 3pm to verify with the store manager this same fact, and was told "just get here really early to be near the front so that you can get them, since they didn't ship us a lot of spares. I just went through the pre-orders and the shipment, and we'll have about 50 regular and 5 collector's editions to purchase at the event, all the rest are our pre-orders, though we'll be getting another shipment tomorrow." Yes, I'm specific about these numbers since I raised hell that night over the issue. I went to the store 5 minutes after they closed... Yes, I stood in line, in the cold, from about 9pm all the way to midnight. I was the third person in line. When midnight hit, some person claiming to be the manager, openly stated that only those with pre-orders would be let in the door for the first hour. WTF?! Direct contradiction to corporate, and their manager. I raised a stink about how they were handling the opening, as did the others who were evidently given the same info. We were let in, but then told we could only buy one normal copy...no seconds, and no CE's. I reported them to corporate, who apologized in advance as it was his understanding that their employees violated the rules of the midnight sale and held the non pre-orders for their friends. HUGE no-no and I have refused to deal with this store ever again. Needless to say, I got up early the next morning, went to the target at the same mall, right across the parking lot, and picked up TWO CE's of their more than 50 sitting on the shelf, and they had a whole pallet of standard editions. In my opinion, this particular Gamestop needs to be shut down and have their stock and their 1 or 2 GOOD employees merged into the one over at Southland... I can't say much about their prices, as they are the same, chain-wide... However, they are about where the rest of the industry is, if on the slightly higher end of that spectrum for chain electronic game outlets. read more

This review is specific to the very friendly and professional staff at GameStop that was working there this evening. My wife and I visited and I think there were 4 people working the store. The line looked long. But, they moved it along quickly. Each interaction that I noticed between the Staff and customers was so very friendly and positive. With us, they were very friendly and helpful. If they didn't have an answer, they reached out to a colleague that did. I've never been a fan of gamestop, but I decided to give them one more try. I've been looking for a Nintendo 3ds xl and they had boxes out with prices on them. Sweet. I grabbed the galaxy color and stood in a long line for at least twenty minutes with one person working. Finally it's my turn and I get up to the check out and he says oh we're all sold out of these. I pointed out that the box is on their shelf and he said well that's just showing that we sell them. So I said well you obviously aren't selling them if you don't have any in stock and I just stood in a very long line to hear you're sorry. Super crappy customer service. read more

I really don't expect a lot from video game stores. The occasional comment about a game, information on when new releases come out & the ability to tell me whether something is in stock are really my only major requirements. I don't even necessarily expect them to have register skills, as long as they can get through the numbers eventually. Unfortunately, this particular game stop doesn't even seem to be able to manage to meet those low standards. I can't even explain why I still go in there. Every time, I walk out disgusted. EVERY TIME! This most recent visit I went in looking for a copy of Sims 3. There was no one in the store except for their one singular employee standing behind the counter. I asked him if they had any copies in and he lectured me about how I should have preordered and now I'd have to buy the collectors edition for more all because I was too stupid to come in ahead of time and buy in advanced. This was all before I had said anything more than "Do you have any copies of Sims 3?". The last time, it was a different employee telling me how the game I was asking for was crap. The time before that they told me they had an item in stock and had me wait over a half hour before realizing that their back room was such a mess that there was no way they could find it. (This was after taking my money btw). As I left the store this time, I could imagine my little personal Sim with the unhappy bubble over her head. I managed to score a copy of the game 100 feet away at Target for a cheaper price and flew a middle finger at the gamestop as I drove out of the parking lot. Lets hope this time I learn my lesson. Ok........ So I went to this place a few weeks ago to buy my son 5 games for his XBOX ONE .. When I got home I noticed that three out of 5 of the games have been opened.. I felt that if I'm buying new games then they should come sealed.. I talked to a guy at another GameStop and he said that those games should of came sealed.. I took the games back for a refund and the guy behind the counter looked at the games as if I was the one who opened them... After a few minutes he told me that they didn't have a lot of cash on hand to give me a refund and told me I'd have to go to the other GameStop in San Leandro for a refund because it would take him 20 minutes to open the safe... I told him I'd wait and out of nowhere he all of a sudden had enough cash on hand.... I will never go to another GameStop again... EVER!!! I bought a Xbox 360 bundle and was offered a GameStop Membership card..the employee was very courteous in explaining the benefits of it, without being pushy, but, I declined to buy it. A couple days later I went back for something else and there was quite a lot of people inside. One of the employees took care of what I need it to get and offered the card again. And once again, without being pushy he explain the benefits and options of it. But, this time I did purchase the membership card. They were both (Peter and Alex) very professionals, knowledgeable and took their time in Listening what the Customer (me) need it and provided help without looking at me like a -pest-. (Some businesses do look at their customers like that). The store was neat, clean and in order. So I'm sure I will be coming back here again! read more
