A solid GameStop! This location always has a ton of current games and merch from trending fandoms. There's also been a few times I've come in finding the unexpected, such as the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Collection I snagged yesterday; they sold out so quickly on release and it's been awhile on any reprint news that I thought I'd have to wait another year or so before I could get it! On top of the staff keeping a good stock, they've always been swift and coordinated on release days despite all of the chaos. I've been to a number of Day 1 pick ups here and am never there for long. I recently talked to the store lead Matthew and it seems that there is new management at this location and I'm so happy to say that he has assured me that something like this would never happen again. He has told me that he regularly uses my review with his staff of what to avoid when running the store. I personally believe that the rim is an amazing location and that this GameStop now lives up to the prestige and service that GameStop has always given me as a child. Definitely understand that tension is high with the Switch 2 traffic, but Jay was out of line with his commentary. We waited in line for about 15 minutes for the couple in front of us to finish their exchange- when we were next, we asked if they had any Switch 2's in stock and Jay said "Did you not just see what i've been doing for the last 15 minutes? Yeah.. we have one" There's no way we could've known if anything needed to be done on the backend prior to him selling it to us right after the couple returned it. Went in to buy a video game. Found a pre-owned copy of Red Dead Redemption for 29.99 for PS4. which seemed fine (the same product is currently selling for the same or less online). I went to check out and the guy scanned it for 49.99 and tried to charge me. Then when I pointed it out, he doubled down and said it was their mistake, it cost $49.99 and refused to honor the price as marked. All this after pitching me on a warranty etc. Bad business, I would suggest shopping somewhere with more honest staff/pricing, and I will not be patronizing this place at any point in the future. read more

I've only been to this GameStop, and just a handful of times, as it's close to home, and pretty much in the Rim Shopping Center. Despite the reviews about bad customer service and such, I have not experienced this yet. All the interactions I've had from buying something, to selling games for in-store credit, have been extremely friendly and positive. Would and will definitely come back and use this GameStop as my usual GameStop. read more

Came in asked for a product. The employee told me we don't have it. Asked him if he could check if any nearby stores have it. He said no he won't check and no GameStop stores have it. Hope this is one of the stores that is closing. Called another store who said they had the item, called back to this location, asked to speak with the manager and the same guy I spoke with said he was the manager. When I told him that he didn't even bother to check, just told me no store had it, he lied and told me that he said the store I went to had it. The store I went to off Blanco road was very nice and told me there were a lot of problems with the rudeness of the employees at the store at La Cantera. It's a shame, most GameStop have good customer service. read more

I placed a preorder for a Boba Fett funko pop. Called about every other day when it was released to see if it came in yet(had been released for about a week now). I was in the area yesterday and no one was picking up the phone(that's a red flag), so I stopped in and asked Robert. He said "they're not in yet." So I left. I got a call about 30minutes after I drove back home saying my order was now ready for pick up. In other words, it was there, but Robert didn't want to look in the boxes that they got already. Fast forward to today, I go in to pick up my order and Robert hands me the only remaining damaged one. I didn't even take it, I took a refund and decided to write this post to have others avoid preordering at this GameStop. I'm not a fan of bad customer service and wont be shipping to this GameStop anymore. read more

Visited this GameStop. It is at a convenient location by 281. Store was clean and has a mixture of new and old games for the PS4. If they don't have the game they can order it. I liked that there are a lot of popular stores around it so you have other places to shop while you are in the area. read more

Always great service here. Have worked with Thomas and Chelsea - they are awesome- very patient with the kiddos when trying to divvy up their saved monies and trade- ins for games of their hearts' desire. Thank you for interacting with them in a responsible, business- like manner for their ages (11 and 9). Have not reviewed a game stop on yelp, but I'm so impressed- if more businesses understood that this is what customer service is about- they would understand how we can be so loyal to a business. read more

My son went to buy a Game and because of Covid-19 the store wasn't taking cash. He came back into store and I went to pay for him, the manager informed me of a program they had where we could save money and in the long run make money on our $15 membership. Not a big deal but here is where she went beyond. I was not planning on going in and didn't have my mask, since I was in store I had my T-shirt pulled above my face. We were waiting and she generously offered me a brand new face mask. These things are worth gold and it was very kind of her to offer me to help protect me and the rest of public during these changing times. This is a great game stop every time I go in the employees are always willing to help and they will help you make the right choice even if it doesn't make them a huge sale. I enjoy going in and buying games that I want. They always carry the new games and do big midnight game releases, which are always fun to attend. If you need to go to a GameStop then I recommend this one it's not the biggest one in town but the people there make it the nicest. They include payment plans for games, and they always have good deals. read more

All I can say is that the staff in this store is AWSOME! I am 37 year old mother of 3 and also a former retail manager(15 years). They made me feel comfy shoppin which sometimes can be weird for women in a video game store. They helped my son pick out age appropiate games and informed me about sale and promotions that was going on in the store at the time. Just simply great service! read more
