Another one? Well there seems to be plenty of GameStop's in the Rochester area and this one is really no exception to the rule. I'll begin to sound redundant if I start rambling on about GameStop's odd practices so I'll limit this review to the store itself. This will include it's layout, game stock, and most importantly, customer service. I'll begin by going against what I just stated and talk about location. If you're a Gates resident, chances are this is the GameStop that you visit since distance wise, it's the nearest. As with most GameStop's, this one is located in a strip mall of sorts that is next to a generic Chinese take out place and what used to be a Bank of America. It isn't that hard to miss if you're coming down Howard Road or even if you are coming from Chili Ave. In either way, you'll want to keep moving your head both directions to ensure you don't drive on by and miss it. Once you manage to find a parking spot, you will usually see that there is a display box outside of the store showing off games you can take inside to purchase which I will point out is a very BAD move. There is usually one employee in the store at that time so any individual can just waltz up to the stand and swipe the case without anyone noticing. I don't see this at any other of the GameStop's around me so I hope that they are ceasing this practice soon so the case thieves don't get the upper hand. Venturing on inside, you have your standard Xbox 360 and Xbox One games that are situated at the front of the store and the PlayStation 3 & 4 media being sorted a the back of the store all color coded for usual convenience. What I like more about this GameStop is that they carry plenty of obscure Wii and PlayStation 3 titles that I can't really find at other locations. The price is debatable but because price is the same for all GameStop's, I won't really factor that into this review. Anyways, I can't say the same for the Xbox titles because I don't own one but from what I've seen, there's some decent titles worth picking up for under five dollars which I recommend jumping on now before they get sold out by others. They do have a small PC Section which contains still brand new games from a few years ago that I assume haven't been sold because the price was still a bit high. However, this is one of the only stores I've seen these type of PC titles dating back to 2010 so It'll be well worth the visit whenever I return. At the moment, the PSP collection is phasing out but most of their PSP titles are all in generic cases so unless you're into just the game, it's buy two get two free, quite a deal that I hope the Wii will get eventually. Speaking about Nintendo, their 3DS titles are solid at the moment but I wish that more came with their original cases rather then the plastic boxes but if it's a rare one, I would buy it anyway if the price is decent. The same can be said for the DS one's which actually have no boxes at all! You can find the cheap ones by the counter when you walk in but the more quality and expensive titles are in the locked glass case by the 3DS titles. Pricey? You got it, but worth it to some depending on the game title. Overall, decent layout and easy to browse but what it all comes down to is customer service. How does it fare? Surprisingly, all of the employees I have encountered here have been polite, courteous and resourceful even when I ask the stupidest questions. None of them have ever pressured me into pre-ordering anything but they still do ask the warranties which I will add you may consider because I did get a near DESTROYED copy of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z at the Ridgemont location which I didn't get the warranty on but it was six dollars, not much lost there. Back to the main point, outstanding service all around at this location...very hard to come by. As shown by what I have written, this is one of my favorite GameStop's to visit next to the one located at Eastview. I highly encourage those who live on the west side of Rochester to stop by at this branch if you are looking for that rare or desirable title, chances are they have it! read more
