When I visit this store, it's like I'm in middle school again, and it's a Friday night, and I get to pick out a movie or two to stay up late and watch. It's TOTALLY a nostalgia thing. Most of the stock is in VHS (which is amazing in and of itself, especially in this day and age) but there are some DVDs too. This is my most favourite place in Rochester to rent those old, hard-to-find titles (some of which never even came out on DVD!) And the display setup they've got going there makes any film/media geek drool. It's not every day you get to see a LaserDisc player up close and personal. The owner is a great, personable guy and really interesting to talk to. The place wouldn't be what it is without him. If you want to relive the past and step into a time warp, check Hyatt's out, and rent a video or two while you're there. Someday places like this will all be gone...and yeah, I love netflix as much as the next person, but there is just something about the video rental store experience that you can't duplicate in watching a streaming video. We go here once every couple of months, at least, and whenever we can't find one of those old obscure movies we remember watching when we were young but can't find anywhere. When you can't even find it ONLINE...Hyatt's usually has it.

I give it a 4 because they always had a good selection (not that I would know), and were always friendly. I would stop in here with my gf on the way to or from the awesome drive in movies. Don't get me wrong they have just about everything crystal you will ever need. They also have books, tarot cards, candles, incense, accessories and more. While I was looking around they were setting up for I believe tarot readings and etc. Staff is friendly and helpful. When you want to check out where do you go up front or the smaller area? This is minor but it's something that might have to be made more apparent. This is a great location as it's larger and they can do a lot with it. They also have classes and events check the website. They have a wide selection and they update their social media frequently with new items. If they don't have something, they can either get it or tell you where you can find it. The one time we had a problem with an item, they immediately made it right with a smile and without any hesitation. We try to visit at least twice a month. It's about a 30 minute ride each way for us, but absolutely worth the trip. On the rare trip that we don't buy anything, we still have a fun time. If you're a retro gamer, this will become quickly one of your favorite stores.

When I asked if they had one, he told me "This is a movie store"' I told him I know, and that's why I was asking if they had one. He had no idea what I was asking, I guess. He started getting rude after that. "This is a movie store. Do you want a movie?" I told him no, I was just looking for a resurfacing machine and he said "Well this is a movie store." Rick's Recycled Books is the best book store in the city of Rochester. Yes, I know, there's Barnes…read more& Noble in Pittsford, and if you're looking for a Starbucks latte or kid's toys that's a nice place to go too. But if you're looking for an incredible selection of books stacked floor to ceiling. amazing science fiction paperbacks or mysteries, walls of fiction classic or modern, books on history, self-help, the occult, you name it, this has always been my go-to spot. It's wonderful, it's affordable, you can lose yourself for hours there. A real ornament to the city of Rochester. There is one sad thing about it, however. Recently Rick, the founder and owner, passed away from pancreatic cancer. His son Richard has taken it over, but Richard also is facing spinal surgery and will have to close the shop for at least two months if he can't find a replacement to watch the bookstore while he's recovering, or cover the bills.
