Dollar steak!
Naz B.

I never thought I would give Dollar Tree 4 stars but honestly, you can find party and wrapping supplies here for way cheaper than Wegmans, AC Moore, Jo Ann's and even Target. Everything was clean and well organized. The staff knew the exact aisle when I asked them where some things were (if you are in the city and are looking for disposable 'champagne flutes', try here. Wegmans on East does not have them.). This will be my new first stop for party supplies whenever I host one next! As for the $1 steak ... I recommend passing on that (but they were actually sold out of it so who knows!).

Review Highlights - Dollar Tree

As far as what they sell: There are a lot of cleaning supplies here, which line most of the back wall so stop here for cheap stuff you use regularly like sprays, oxy clean, paper towels, etc.

Just reported they ignorant ssaes to corporate and then had to report corporate to corporate. I will not be harassed on my phone, in my face at the store, I will not have things thrown at me or questioned how I pay for their discounted items. So therefore I'm pressing charges on all of them and they should've kept that Family Dollar up there. Yea they cleaned up the store a bit but they need better training and professionalism. If not that store will get shot up.

This is a review for the terrible hiring practice for this company so no one else will go through…read morewhat I went through. I applied to the location(1004 Culver Rd Rochester NY) online and received a text from the District Manager a few days later. I spoke briefly and scheduled an interview with a recruiter a few days later. I was interviewed by a recruiter and was referred back to the District Manager whom shared that they were interested in me as a Candidate for the Store Manager position. I was then referred to the Regional Manager whom I had a phone conversation with and was informed by him that the District Manager would reach back out to me. After several days, the District Manager contacted me saying they were sending the hiring packet out and I needed to complete. Once completed I informed her and she asked me how much notice I required for the company I was working at (Dollar Tree Store Manager). I said 10 business days and she told me I would start June 10th. I was given a schedule and the training manager reached out to me to confirm schedule. I was also added to the group chats. I purchased uniforms and was ready to work that day when the District Manger called me at 6am telling me I wouldn't be able to go in to work because the background check wasn't done yet, but my salary would still begin and I just had to wait for the report. After several days I reached out about the background check and was given the number for the company First Advantage that runs them by the District Manager. I contacted the company several times over the course of a week and finally got an email with the report. I notified the District Manager and she asked to email the report to her since it wasn't in the system. After I sent the report to her, she said it was forwarded to Human Resources and I should hear back soon. That was 6/16/23. After reaching out and getting no response, I explained how I was not unemployed leaving my previous job for Dollar General and everything going on, I was told on 7/4/23 that the background didn't pass and I was ineligible. Wasn't told what or why it didn't pass interestingly since I was a Store Manager at Dollar Tree prior to giving notice for this position and passed the Backgrounds multiple times there. I was never compensated for any of the time I wasted even after the District Manager said my salary began 6/10. I do not recommend applying to work at Dollar General, read the reviews and it seems a common theme with an extreme lack of professionalism. Further research after all of this shows This company has settled multiple times over lawsuits with similar situations. These are illegal practices causing people to detrimentally rely on job positions only to string people along causing financial hardship. Trying to call HR is just being thrown in loops and I am now unemployed with having a decent job prior to applying to Dollar General due to their terrible hiring process.

It's a more organized offspring of a thrift store and a church Bazaar. Nothing fancy, but they're true to their slogan,"Good stuff cheap". And cheap it is. Sometimes I find things that are less expensive than at Dollar Tree, only 4 doors down in the same Plaza. That said, you can't always find what you're looking for, but you often find something that you want or need. Hence, kind of like a church Bazaar. It's either maddening as heck or fun, as you sift through the bargains and wend your way to the back of the store to see if that close-out on carpets is something that you like. It's one of those polarizing places. Either you love it or you don't. Ollie's sells many name brand things, from Men's, Women's, and Children's clothes, to accessories, Health and Beauty aids, lawn and garden supplies, art, crafts, pet and school supplies. They have a nice book department, and sell things like Bible covers, Sudoku, crossword puzzles and word searches, as well as books for toddlers to adults. Yes, Ollie's even sells food. Nothing perishable, but you can find anything from Pink Himalayan salt, to candy, and cereal, to your favorite junk food, like pork rinds and cheese balls. I've even found jars of marinated bell peppers, huge jars of minced garlic, and if you like flavored coffee, I've even seen flavored coffee syrups and creamer. True, Ollie's might not have it all, but they sure have a lot of Good Stuff Cheap.
