Stopped by Game Guys recently and had a great experience! As soon as I walked into the TCG area, Jaelen greeted me and was super patient. I'm pretty new to the trading card world, and he took the time to explain things and answer all my questions without making me feel overwhelmed. Pricing-wise, it wasn't too bad for the items I was looking at. You might pay a slight premium compared to smaller or private sellers, but you have to balance it with the huge inventory, the nice storefront, and the fact that they have plenty of helpful staff on hand. Located at C502 in Alamemda Mall, this is a huge operation. Half the square footage is for in person events. It is clean and well maintained. There are long tables, nice chairs, and overhead digital boards/ monitors. The far side was set up for side events. Park at Burlington at alameda mall and walk through Burlington. It's to your right. We came for a birthday party. Huge gaming area. You totally get the area to yourself for the party. Lots of computers. There's an air hockey table too. So pretty much a lot of us didn't know how to log into any of the "free" games and the staff pretty much doesn't walk around to help or guide. You're kinda on your own. The bath this on the living room cafe next door. The door is not labeled. It's like the second door to the right in the back area. Really thought I found a shop that cared about the enthusiasts of collecting TCG stuff they told me they didn't do preorders for prismatic evolutions since so many people were having trouble getting them and surprise when I show up the morning of release and I find out the real reason was so the owner could make as much money as possible. I was expecting a mark up buying from a small local shop but the charge $130 for a $65 ETB is insane I would have spent another $100 there but not willing to pay some one that is no different than the scalpers online. The employees where wonderful and understanding people but the owner of this shop clearly only cares about profit again I understand and was expecting a mark up but twice the price for a set on release day is absurd and you should feel ashamed you are the same as a scalper making it difficult for the casual collector. read more

In regards to their console repair services, do yourself a favor and send it into the manufacturer for proper repairs. I took my PS5 here to have it fixed due to a white screen issue. The gentlemen I spoke to at the counter told me it would be a week. After a week I called and asked for an update. I was fed the same line that I gave them in regards to my problem. Basically telling me they haven't even looked into the issue yet. I gave them a couple more days and called back for an update and was fed the same line and they asked for a few more days to "look into it." I called today at the two week mark and was fed the same line and was told the issue was "unique" and they needed some more time. I could've sent my PS5 into Sony for $60 extra and gotten a new PS5 by now. If it's something you cannot fix, then be transparent about it. Don't tell your customers it'll be a week, when you have no idea when it'll be. Don't make your customers call up every few days to get updates for themselves. All honesty, it's piss poor communication. Especially when it's gone past the time frame you gave your customer. So, to the potential future customer looking to get their console repaired so you don't have to send it to the manufacturer...do yourself a favor, spend the extra money and have it sent in. That way it's done by professionals and if it's something that cannot be fixed, they will replace it with a new console. To GameGuys, work on your transparency and communication skills, not ONCE did I receive any updates. I had to call up there and ask for updates every time, even when I was told that I would receive updates. It's roughly $216 to have GameGuys fix your console(if they can) it would've cost me $290 to have it sent into Sony, with the promise of replacing my console with a new one if it couldn't be fixed. To the owner, I get it. I am one customer, leaving one bad review. This will not make your business go under, nor is that my intentions with this review. But, if I can save one potential customer of yours from using your business and wasting their time, then mission accomplished. I will pay my approx. $30'ish "assessment fee" and take my business to the real professionals. read more

Tried purchasing one piece deck cards with my friends , after charging my card twice for two separate orders and decks , manager and employees starting making up excuses on to why I could no longer purchase them & constantly switch up the narrative on why the card were no longer available, even after they had already charged me ! And I even called ahead to make sure these cards where available to buy . They were very rude and shady people and not helpful at all , didn't explain anything about getting my money back , called security to escort us out and lacked all communication on when I would get my $3k back ! read more

SCAM ARTISTS AND CONS!!!! Called ahead of time and they said I could buy 6 cases in full of cards!!! They said come in, i DROVE an hour, bought 2 cases, then before the 3rd, they said one case per person, we had 3 individual people. I tried, then it was, "you can't buy til tomorrow, or get someone to buy it for you" Then it was "oh we only wanted to sell these cards to the tournament players only". Then the excuse was "you need seperate gamer guy accounts to purchase", we offered to make accounts and they said no. They made it up as time went on. WE PAID 4000$ in merch and they STOLE it and took it to the back. We Filed a THEFT POLICE REPORT. A fat black lady, the Mexican little manager "Ruben Jr.", and a fat white guy with glasses are the loser employees who pulled all this scamming and excuses with no justification! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE FOR REPAIRS!!! I had a malfunctioning L3 button on my left analog stick on my ps4; I wasn't able to run properly in most games. I dropped off the controller and did not hear back from them until I called 2 weeks later. I picked up the controller, and when I got home I realized the left analog was limp and useless. I dropped it back off... I took my kids to the arcade ($45) and I picked the controller up on the way out; The guy at the front said the tech changed the mother board, which should corrected the problem. I got home I and still had my original problem, so I took it back to Game Guys again. I spoke to the tech, and he just said there was nothing he could do... The controller obviously was beyond repair. I said ok, I'll come and get my refund. He then tells me that they'll only issue a partial refund because of the parts they used. (Mind you, they give a 90 day warranty on their work). I told him I wasn't ok with paying for an incomplete job. The tech (maybe the owner) then goes on to tell me that I'm lucky to get anything back, because he "don't play games". What kind of unprofessional mess is that? I picked it up from the front door clerk a few days later, and saw that they went through with stealing my money. I decided to drop the controller off to UBREAKIFIX yesterday to get a second opinion. The tech just called me back to say that the motherboard was not replaced, and if it was the replacement wasn't a new one. Game Guys seems to have only replaced the left analog, and while doing so damaged the motherboard to a point which is beyond reasonable repair as it would be cheaper to just buy another ps4 controller. These dudes basically totaled out my remote. I will be receiving pictures of the problem, free of charge, from UBREAKIFIX. If anyone suggests that I'm lying about anything I've said, I'll post the picture along with my Game Guys receipt here. GO ELSEWHERE IF YOU WANT PROMPT AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE. read more

Well fixing your hdmi port was a breeze for these guys they told me i would have to wait a couple of days only for me getting a call from them a couple of hours later telling me they were done with my playstation. I was a bit nervous because it happened so quick i got home connected my ps4 to my monitor and it worked perfectly! Not the cheapest but worth it and my hdmi port the teeth were all messed up and my screen would look like a glitch. read more

My PlayStation 4 had recently went out because of my HDMI port. I called plenty of places that could fix it quickly, but we're expensive. There were places that we cheap, but took a week to fix it. This place was able to do it for cheap, in an hour, and when I was waiting they let me and my son play in their arcade and watch shows. The problem was fixed in literally less than an hour and the technician working on my PlayStation was calling and texting me with every update that he was doing. From opening the system, to cleaning it, replacing the HDMI port, to testing it. Once it was ready they tested it for me and everything worked fine! I'd highly recommend it for anyone who needs a tech repair and I'm definitely taking my PS4 back for any other maintenance! read more

GameGuys is a small arcade but I personally enjoy it for what it is. For a set door charge I am able to play ParaParaParadise 2, all my Steam games with their upstairs pretty much dedicated to computers, and as much DDR as I would like. These are pretty much the only reason I come to GameGuys but that's my preference for games. Their DDR machine is set up with a large display and a extensive list of songs past just official game playlists. I think this is fantastic. Mary, perhaps the most well known face of GameGuys​, is a doll and I am glad to see her everytime I come by. read more

Came here because of the collections they have. Looked at a few funkos and they had the prices already on them. Then afterwards once they started scanning them, the prices were apparently incorrect and told me that I had to pay a different price and wouldn't honor the sticker price. Won't shop here anymore. This is specifically for the store front. This was recommended to me as a game store and I would say less than 5% of the store is anything to do with games from any eta. Then they have a bunch of clone controllers that look legit. Then I saw a ps5 behind the counter and I asked. They said it's for sale $800 "cash only" scalpers I have no respect for that. read more

I was recommended this place by another LAN cafe, and after going here I assumed it was some next level marketing tactic to get me to appreciate the other place even more. We came here for the PC gaming section. The PCs were NOT up to par, despite what their website says. We tried to play Apex Legends (a very optimized game, no problem) and the computers struggled to run it. I don't know why they would spend money on 144hz monitors if the computers can't hit those marks. We gave up and decided to play another game (Dota 2) to find it wasn't installed??? So we swapped computers and it wasn't installed there. Neither was Overwatch, HotS, and more (despite it saying it was on their roster of games) We gave up again and made our way down the wobbly stairs to the arcade. I am a big guy, but I am not big enough to make the stairs wobble. The arcade was fun for about 10 minutes. A lot of the machines were old and worn out. The buttons had labels rubbed off so you had to guess and figure it out for the first minute or so. They had machines that were nice but it was because they were some weird unrecognizable rhythm game on a touch screen, so nobody played it. We found a room that was playing LEGO Rockband (lol) so we played that for a bit. It was so dark so I went to turn on the light and the thing shocked me!! What!! We left almost immediately afterwards. Also, when I called to ask a question prior to coming, the lady on the phone was giving me an attitude in response to such a simple innocent question. read more

Xbox systems needed updating, a few arcade games didnt work, but what irritated me the most was that we (my friend and I) paid 30$ to play from 6pm-12am...but after a few hours the owner said they were going to close 3 hours early because there was hardly anyone there?!?...even though this issue was not a concern to us, the kicked us and the other customers out and CLOSED...Wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. Lemme start off by saying: this place is legit! I bought a Groupon for this for kicks just to see what it was all about. When we first got to the place we were a little concerned due to the area and the parking spaces being limited, but we went in anyways. The games are closed off into another much larger room, so when you walk in, that also seems a little sketch. Once we got through the doors for the games however, that's when we were amazed. The concept is really neat and we had a blast. It's byob, so alcohol is allowed. Most of the games work, there are a few that don't so that was where I took off 2 stars on this review. The place is legit. Every game you could possibly want to play is here. The people were friendly and it's a really chill atmosphere. They have have classic games and computers up stairs but you need your own steam account to use them. They have the BEST ddr machine and they have the whole guitar hero setup. If you have a special edition console of any kind DON'T bring it here. My boyfriend and I both bought Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask New Nintendo 3DS XLs and I broke my top LED screen and dropped it off with them before they moved locations because the person I talked to said they could fix it. The guys who I gave it to (who turned out to be shady guys who stole money from the store, which is really not the owners' faults) didn't even tell me they were moving locations. I waited about a month, calling and calling and leaving message after message because I just wanted my 3DS back, fixed or not. FINALLY I got ahold of the girl owner, Mary, who in turn got me in touch with the guy owner, Ruben (I believe was his name). He was a super nice guy who worked with me and seemed to do whatever he could to fix my DS. In the end, though, he told me he tried to fix it, but couldn't because it turned out that my top screen was a limited edition top screen that only came with the Majora's Mask 3DS's, and it would be way cheaper to buy another one if I ever got the chance. So I went to their new location by the freeway at the time Google said they were open (which apparently was wrong because the door was locked when I got there, and maybe it was because they had JUST changed locations, I don't know), the girl came out and just handed my DS to me (no "So sorry about this" or any words period) and went right back inside. I finally got it back, UNREPAIRED, but I was happy to get my DS back. I did end up buying another Majora's Mask 3DS soon afterwards. We didn't really harbor any ill will towards Game Guys after that, we would have still gone to the store if we needed any other repairs done. A while after that my boyfriend tried to sell his very close to brand new Majora's Mask 3DS XL on their Facebook page, but it turned out that the girl owner, Mary, told someone that he had had it repaired locally and that it wasn't new and that he was lying, and blocked both of us from the Facebook page. It made me pretty mad because we have 3 Majora's Mask 3DS XLs now, and of my two one is legit broken and the other is refurbished. My boyfriends, however, really was pretty much brand new and was only taken out of the box to see it turn on. It really peeved me to see the girl owner tell someone that when we told them before that we had BOTH bought Majora's Mask 3DS's. I'm sure that the repairs for older systems and activities that they do there are pretty nice, and I really hoped to be apart of at least a few, but that experience, even though I know it really wasn't the owners' fault left a very bad impression :/ If you have a special edition console of any kind, I recommend doing as much research as you can before dropping it off anywhere to try and get it repaired. read more

Okay...so I found this business via a Google search. Game Guys ad states "PS4 Repairs Only $99.00 - Same Day Services - 90 Day Warranty"..I called the contact number in the ad (832) 413-2349. A young lady answered the phone and said yes we do repair PS4 gaming consoles. I drove from Tomball to the Hobby Airport area and when the young lady saw me in person... she started shooting from the hip. First, she said the repair would be $125.00 for a PS4 console repair without troubleshooting the unit. I showed her the ad online and she started hesitating. No help whatsoever! Then she said the repair would take about 3 days. If a drop off the console today..it would be ready by next Wednesday.. more than 3 days..Ma'am I thought I needed a new HDMI port. I went to Game Stop, and discovered I only needed a new HDMI cord - $17.99. For this business I guess your complexion is our connection and the color of your skin is your sin. The business rep acted like she did not want to help me. By the way, I am an educator. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from this fraud business - false advertising.
