It's a well lit and beautiful shop with everything neatly arranged in clearly marked categories, so it was easy to find what you were looking for. A good range of maps, guide books and books on Scotland; novels, biographies, a great children's section too and much more besides. Best of all, the lady at the counter was extremely nice. It seems that they also stock some music from unsigned bands, which is a great thing to do. It's near Queen Street which is ideal and there are some cracking boxed sets behind the counter. Including what I am assuming is a rare live Bouncing Souls DVD, which I might go back for since I regret leaving it. The book shop, split over 2 levels is really quite extensive for such a quirky place, with popular fiction, non fiction (including lots of local reading material), a childrens' room and an interesting travel section in the coffee shop area. The coffee shop is by far the best in Perthshire that I have found, boasting a small but delicious menu of homemade cakes (try their granola bars) and soup. In 2002 Aberfeldy became Scotland's 1st 'fair trade' town and this is reflected in the list of coffee that is available. Seating is available outside on the terrace in the warmer months and the wood buner glows in the coffee shop when it's chilly. The gallery showcases well-respected artists and is usually of a contemporary nature. Plenty of parking nearby, clearly signposted, helpful, friendly staff and above all a very relaxing place to sit with a newspaper in one hand and a latte in the other.
