Newfoundland has a very low selection of good retro game shops, or retro games shops in general. There's a few nearby my house within a 5 minutes drive, but they typically don't have what i'm looking for, or charge somewhere within the ballpark of 40 bucks for madden '99 on the 64.
GameXchange is probably the one you should check first. The prices beat out anything else in the city, and they are very knowledgeable when it comes to retro tech/gaming stuff. Some stuff is a bit steep, but when you factor in tax, and the general high markup of video games everywhere, it makes sense if they are to stay in business.
Very wide selection, they practically have everything you could want. Bought a couple of 360 games a few years back and some DS games recently, and im planning on getting some more stuff soon. They test everything second-hand in-house right the in-front of you, so you are basically guaranteed for the product to work as advertised. This is also very helpful, because buying off ebay, kajiji, hell even marketplace, there's a good chance whatever your buying could be broken, damaged, or just not work entirely, so its convenient and super reliable to have a good place to just walk in, and walk out.
They beat out Entertainment center and Adey's, or any other place ive been to in town by a landslide in practically every category.
Only downside is that I live up in the east end so its a 45-30 minute drive depending on traffic, but that's not really a problem with the store.
Tons of friendly staff, good prices, (we're talking for retro game) they test whatever you're buying, they got basically every system you could possibly want, and much much more.
Friends have told me they offer decent prices for trade-ins, haven't done it myself so I'll let you explore for yourself. Anyways, I'd Highly recommend. Check them out before anywhere else. read more
