I ordered the Good Morning Breakfast Bap which is a square sausage, egg and bacon in a bap and I have to say it's the best I've ever had. Perfect. Wouldn't change a single thing about it. The chai could have been better, a bit thicker for my taste but still nice. The staff were wonderful and let us sit in before they had fully opened to get out of the cold. The interior is very modern and trendy, and the fairy lights add a lovely touch. Very pleased with this place yet again!

I've yet to find a better place in Falkirk to enjoy a beer outdoors and I'm going to miss it now that Autumn is starting to make itself more and more obvious. Eventually, we headed inside one lunchtime to try the food. Inside, Johnston's does just as good a job. It;s light and airy, there's plenty of seating (including some upstairs above the bar). We got comfy at a table and chose from their lunch menu. I ordered the fish and chips while my partner went for the steak pie. The fish and chips was enormous. I had thought, since this was the lunch menu, that it would be a slightly more moderate portion. Not that I'm complaining because it was also delicious. My partner loved his steak pie too. They run a loyalty card (although it's new and I'm not sure the system totally works as it eventually will). They offer cocktails and seem proud of their wine list, but they also offer good coffee and cake, as well as their own home made tablet. They cater to groups and parties and they run offers throughout the week, like two main meals for £7.99 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. So far, as far as I can tell, Johnston's is doing everything right.

It's located right in the heart of town just across from the shopping center. Parking was pretty easy in the lot across the street. We happened to walk in at the right time. There were only a few other guest already inside. But once we were seated, minutes later the place started to trickle with people coming in and ended up full. There was a good amount of us which two tables were already situated together. The restaurant itself isn't that big. Two side, main is where the counter and kitchen is with a smaller dining area. The other is mainly dining. The counter was where all the fresh pastries were on full display. Let me say, they all looked amazing and some were ordered to try before we even had our meal. Dessert first obviously. Menu wise, there was a mixture of everything. Started off with a pot of tea and an ice tea. Asked for a slice of lemon which they didn't have. Odd as it's a restaurant. Anyways, main was the Antonio which is your traditional breakfast with a few other items added. Fried eggs, smoked bacon, sausage links, haggis, black pudding, sautéed mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, hash brown, halloumi and served with toast and butter. It was quite good. Toast was pretty massive for the two slices. Everything was quite tasty and flavorful. Th service was quite nice. Staff were all pretty friendly which is a plus. Dessert was amazing especially their raspberries blondie. Overall we enjoyed our meal.

On both occasions I have been totally overwhelmed by the incredible cakes and by just how lovely everything is. Last time I was there I got a dirty chai latte - apparently it has both tea and coffee in it, it sounds weird, but it's good and it comes with glitter on top. In the past I've chosen from their tea menu which is extensive and full of interesting flavours. I also chose the soup of the day which came with some lovely crusty bread. Then, having done my duty and eaten some real food, I wandered downstairs to take in the cake selection. I opted for a slice of the white chocolate and pistachio cake, a four-tierd monster of confectionary. It was delicious but very sweet and I'm afraid I couldn't manage it all - fortunately the folk at Tea Jenny's were very happy to package it up for me and the remainder made a lovely treat later that day. I don't think I could go here too often, but I definitely recommend a visit for a special occasion or a treat. It's not quite like any other cafe I've visited.

Thankfully they've opened up a second place, right next door, called Wee Jenny's....Wee Jenny's also has an ice cream parlour which I'm looking forward to trying when it isn't winter... The staff were very friendly and showed us to our table. I ordered a chai and a chicken, bacon and brie panini. We had to wait a little but this may have felt worse thanks to not having breakfast, but considering how many people were there, it wasn't too bad. The chai was nice, it had glittery, simmering sprinkles on top which fascinated me for a while. It wasn't The Best chai ever, but yummy none the less. The Panini again was nice, a little on the plain side, and I would have liked to have been offered side alternatives, however the salad Looked lovely :) The cakes however...my goodness I am going back to sample their cakes. The have a victoria sponge and cheesecake daily, then three different scrumptious looking cakes each day. Rainbow cake, Malteser cake and some sort of caramel twix looking cake mmmm! If you find yourself in Falkirk it's a lovely little independent cafe which you really should try.

Although having now visited, I'm still unclear whether they consider their espresso or the rum they put in their cocktails to be the more righteous. Either way, I considered these signs to be good ones. It's not a huge bar, but its got plenty of seating, it's comfy and it's got a definite aesthetic it's aiming for. It's pretty cool and I felt right at home. We visited on a Friday night and it was surprisingly quiet but they were doing their best t entertain the ~15 or so customers with an unobnoxious DJ set to go with their pizzas and cocktails. The volume wasn't so high you couldn't sit and chat and the DJ was mostly playing 90s Britpop and kept abandoning his post to come and chat with people. Seemed like a friendly guy who just wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time. Anyway, we ordered a couple of pizzas. I chose the Breakfast at Eisenberg's that came with ham, mushrooms and pepperoni. My partner went for the Margarita with added ham. Turns out that 9" and 12" pizzas are two-for-one when you sit in, but they do also do 16" pizzas and they offer delivery. We ordered two pizzas and two pints and only paid £20. The pizzas bases were thin and crisp and the toppings were good. Only downside? I could probably have eaten an extra half pizza. Maybe I was just hungrier than I thought that day but it made me think of North Star as a better place for lunch than for dinner (although I'll definitely come back for cocktails).
