I came here to my friend's daughters soccer tournament. It was my first time. I was surprised how large the facility was and how many soccer games were going on at the same time. The grass on the fields was in relatively good condition given it's the summer season. The parking however is no fun. It's practically all dirt and very dusty as cars drive by. They charge to park as well. I did not see a brick and mortar restroom, but they did offer plenty of porta potties with washing stations around different locations on the different fields. read more

Here I am writing a review about soccer fields. Came here for State Cup. Was not thrilled about the $15 per day parking fee, but was informed in advance by our team manager. At least they let you pay once for the whole weekend so you can come back the next day without lining up to pay again. But, you still have to line up... expect to wait in your car trying to get in and also when trying to leave. Plan your time accordingly and review the field map ahead so you know where to go and where best to park. Dirt lots, dirt paths, expect for your shoes to get dirty. A water truck drives by regularly to spray so it's less dusty but then it gets more muddy. Basically, don't wear your new clean J's or come unprepared with sandals or slides! read more

The man there really needs to do a better job of offering more exits than they do. It's really a poor management job to make people wait 30 minutes to get out of a soccer game. It takes away from the experience altogether. read more

Review #732 Another one star soccer field. Well these weren't fields these were horse fields. No bathrooms just outhouses. Wind like the Sahara desert. Oh and $12 to park. At least the young people working were nice and they let us go in and out. It took me 25 minutes to get to a coffee shop 7 minutes away--coffee worse than the worst coffee by the way. State cups is again being held their., these fields are atrocious for such a big and grand tournament. This could be a premium location. Grass is dead or torment as they say but it's always dormant/dead. No close by facilities /food I have to drive 15/ 20 minutes just to get to edge of Temecula. I was here for the first time to run the Temecula Half Marathon. The start and finish line for the race was on the grassy area inside the track. We were told that parking would be $12, but I was charged $12.48. I'm guessing that that little extra was for using a credit card. We were directed to park along the perimeter railing on the dirt track. If you can, don't come here in your nice non-off-road vehicle as the dirt roads were not smooth at all. Your car is going to leave here dirty. They had several groups of portapotties stationed all along the track which was adequate for the size of the race. Not much to say about the venue, other than it is very vast and can accommodate approximately a dozen or more simultaneous soccer matches! The turf appears to be well maintained in support of the sport, and provides a nice atmosphere for spectators to enjoy their child's performance. I was in attendance to watch my nephew compete in the ongoing tournament over the weekend. It was very thrilling, and I fully enjoyed the action. Looking forward to the next event. read more

This is the worst venue for soccer. It's in the middle of nowhere. The amenities are sparse, dirt roads, Porto potties, and not enough food vendors. The parking is atrocious with long lines to get in and out choked at a single access point. We saw players running down the highway in an attempt to reach their games. I wish SoCal soccer stopped using this venue. read more

Worst soccer fields ever. We spend a lot of time here for multiple soccer tournaments and I dread coming here. The parking lot is a dirt lot/mud lot if they water it down. Get ready for a your car to become covered in dust and mud, a car wash is a must after attending this place. The fields are crap, dead dry grass and dirt fields with holes and uneven ground. Terrible fields that are miles apart from each other, bring hiking boots to walk through the muddy tunnel and dirt trials. Lastly there are no restrooms... only disgusting dirty uncleaned port-a-potties with hand sanitizer that is always empty, or wash stations that are empty and surrounded by mud. They charge $15 for parking and not to mention the tournament fees, invest in a restroom! No wonder this place got pulled from the equestrian Olympics. This place is disgusting and does not invest in maintenance. Avoid this place if you can. read more

With the amount of money this facility is making for their soccer tournaments you would think they can provide the sheriffs department to direct traffic and provide alternate routes. Near head on collisions because you have these out of town people that have no idea how to drive on these roads. Everyone is coming in from highway 79, there is no light or stop sign there, it's a highway that is one lane! Already plenty of accidents and one fatality this past year. If anything they should be held liable and Im sure it takes that one person that will sue to either make changes or shut it down. Hopefully shut it down in my opinion. The fields and amenities are probably some of the worst in Southern California. I'll try to elaborate, but it's a combination of problems created by soccer clubs looking for lower-cost options to host their soccer tournaments and fields that cut costs in order to make the most out of a 2-day tournament. I am comparing some points with The Ranch due to their closeness. *Negatives* 1. Entering the parking lot is going to be either muddy or extremely dusty with bumpy, potholed roads. 2. Parking is $12 per day. More than "The Ranch". No VIP at Galway. 3. Once you pay, you get filtered into their "parking lot". This parking lot area gets filled up very quickly if your tournament is large. Be prepared to park outside of the main parking area that is going to be bumpy, dusty, and covered in higher dry grass. 4. Every time we come to these fields they make no effort in watering the road to keep the dust down like they do at The Ranch. 5. Part of the problem with this location is that they allow RV parking with the general parking which causes RVs to park side-on taking multiple spots. 6. Point number 5 would be solved if they had RV parking and if they had parking lot workers directing traffic, but see my cutting costs comment at the beginning of this review. Don't cut corners, The Ranch has people directing people where to park, Galway Downs should too to avoid people leaving large, but small enough gaps for other cars to not fit. 7. I keep mentioning dust because if you are here and there is any type of wind, be prepared for debris to fly all over the place, including into your eyes. 8. Now let's say little Johnny is hungry, well head on over to their food stands. You'll most likely have to wait in a very long line only to find out they ran out of pizza, chicken strips, or whatever other frozen food that is handpicked by non-gloved employees sweating over everything(Temecula gets hot people). It's not hard to send an employee to the middle of the long line to let people know they ran out of food. 9. Expect the food quality to be similar to a carnival or circus food. 10. Food prices are overpriced for the lack of health concerns, but if you didn't sneak any food in, then you're stuck with it. $5 for fries and $7 for chicken strips. No combos. 11. Once you leave for the day, watch out for the exit if you have a shorter vehicle because it will bottom out scraping some dirt hill part. You'll know what I'm talking about. 12. Bathrooms, expect dirty porta-potties as the day goes on. *Positives* 1. Most soccer fields have playable grass. The grass is very short but playable. 2. Once your 2-day tournament is over, you get to go home. You've been warned. Bring your own food and shade. Don't wear sandals if you like clean feet. Bring chapstick. Best of luck. Worst soccer venue. Please quit having games here, especially State Cup. The grass and ground are uneven. Not well kept. Tons of gopher holes everywhere, so be careful. For the money they must be getting from parking and venue fee, please paint the soccer lines. Inside line was darker than the actual soccer outer lines. Neither has been touched up for awhile. So many kids couldn't see the lines while playing. Messed up throw ins, etc. Pic shows the barely visible lines and the flag. At least paint it for State Cup! Porta potty's only. Water dispenser...but no water. Good they have trash cans at reasonable distances but no recycling anywhere. For all their events, they need to be more environmentally responsible. Maybe it makes too much work for them. The parking lot is all dirt and mud. Definitely don't wear nice shoes and don't wash your car before coming here. I left with a layer of dust all over the car. Parking is so horrendously far away and hard to get that you don't want to leave if you have another game. Bring your own food, snacks, drinks, shade, etc. Good luck if you have to come here. In addition to the wind gusts, every time a car leaves there's a fun dust shower that follows A decent bathroom would be nice as well. Son had a soccer tourney here this weekend. Our experience: Porta-potties were FULL OF CR@P - LITERALLY. They had no toilet paper, long lines, "hand-washing" stations were small-sized bottles of hand sanitizer scattered here and there, mostly empty. Half of the available porta-potties were closed and not available to use. Fields were rock hard with little grass. Parking was $10 - cash only - obviously a cash grab since the fields are in the middle of NOWHERE. Galway Downs is completely disgusting. read more

Restrooms are disgusting . All port-a-potty's, even the fancy looking ones are port-a-potties (the big white ones) hiding in a trailer. I hate that the league schedules games here. HORRIBLE set up for soccer tournaments!!!! ***The worst part is that it said no outside food or drink yet you only have ONE food truck with one register for thousand plus of people. Ridiculous! The wait was over a hour just to order food so your forced to have to hike back to vehicle, drive back in town to get food & then back to hike another 20+ mins to other field for next game. You pay $10 to park way out in muddy pasture which is a long walk to get to any field. It added a extra 20-25 mins walking fast (one way). Better have a off-road jogger stroller or wagon esp if you have two toddlers that don't want to walk miles that day. The only cool thing was the winter wonderland set up but can't order food till 4PM! read more

We've been coming here for quite some time for games and I'm questioning wtf for?! The roads aren't paved, weeds up to my knee caps, portable toilets, and no ADA standards. I was in a wheelchair and knee scooter for a few months and wasn't able to access the fields securely to watch my own child's game. Did not see one handicap spot. I'm now walking upright, but fear every time I walk from the "parking lot" to the field that I'm going to re-break my ankle from stepping into a dirt hole since I'm Still limping. It appears the owners are greedy; collecting $12 per vehicle. I have to wash my vehicle EVERY TIME we leave this place. I'm hoping they show some initiative to better accommodate this facility in parking because this venue has weekly events. I would not return if not for the games. read more

Came here for State cup, horrible experience. Cal South And Galway Downs should be ashamed of themselves. Parking was horrible, parking attendants dont want to be there so they could careless of anyone's issue. We had to hike a mile each way to get to our fields. Injured players had to limp back since they really didn't have any cars running. The staff forgot to charge most of the carts so they just were sitting there unused. If you are coming here for tournaments prepare for a long, dusty hike and staff that dont give a crap. read more

For soccer events, we've had poor experiences at these fields. Both for regular season games and tournaments. Parking fees are standard at $10 for touneys. But the amenities are not provided. Parking is unbelievably remote and the dust is extreme. There are no trash cans to be found. Now, the restroom situation... toilets, water, soap? Where are the bathrooms? There was ONE portable trailer restroom, that was destroyed by over use, near the south end. And a single broken down portapotty at the far north fields. So, let's call that 10 bathroom stalls. For over 80 expected teams on 11 fields. One portapotty is estimated to serve only TEN PEOPLE! 10 bathroom stalls, would maybe serve then 100 people. Um, I'm not a rocket scientist, but hosting a tournament of 80 teams is slightly more than 100 people. Like NO ONE thought bathrooms would be needed? Galway needs to take lessons from SoCal Sports Complex on how to host soccer events... read more

Came here for a soccer tournament. I have to say the only good thing about this place is that it had good fields to play soccer on... short grass with no weeds, holes, or lumps. As far as the positives that's about it. Parking was $10 per day, which is common but pricey, especially since the parking lot is a dirt lot and it's quite a long way from the fields. The first day we were there, there was so much dirt gettig kicked up by all of the cars driving by and staff going back and forth on their golf carts. The second day, the dirt lot was muddy. They don't even let you park where you want, they make you park farther out even though there's parking closer to the fields. They want you to go a certain way to exit but don't even put signs up saying which way to go. There were barely any trash cans out so I was carrying my trash with me from field to field. There were no restrooms, only porta potties. But they were few and far between. There were no wash stations set up outside porta potties either. And they didn't event bother to empty out the porta potties between days so by the second morning they were filled to the top with human waste, it was so disgusting. Oh, and they had the fields mislabeled. If this facility wants to charge as much as they do, they need to get their act together. read more

We've been to a bunch of soccer tournaments throughout Southern California, and the one hosted at Galway Downs is near the bottom of my list. - Parking is $10. Not ideal, but I'd be happy to suck it up if there was a paved lot, good signage, and it didn't take forever to get from the lots to the fields. Instead, you get dirt lots. In dry weather (isn't it always dry in Temecula?) be prepared to walk through lots of dust to get to the fields. In September 2016, the Business Manager posted on Yelp, "we are planning on bringing in some road base to lay down on the parking lot, which should cut down on dust." It's 16 months later and that hasn't happened. - On our second day they allowed us to park within the horse track for games on the track's infield. Too bad they told one of the other parents that such parking was for vendors only. Good idea, but poor execution - educating your staff on such things would be helpful. - The signage for where the games were to be played (field numbers) was a bit tough to find. It would help if they could post the field locations in the parking lot and online as other soccer complexes do. - The fields themselves were far from ideal. I don't expect, lush grass in January, but the fields were super hard and slick with low cut grass that appeared to be dormant making play more like indoor or artificial turf. Balls that would normally stay within the field would travel for an extra 20 yards. - There is effectively only one way to enter and exit as everyone is coming in from Temecula Parkway to Los Caballos. Traffic wasn't terrible entering on either day (not nearly as bad as the tournaments held at the San Diego Polo Fields in Del Mar), but exiting took forever. They could really use some traffic control folks to help get cars out and onto Temecula Parkway. read more

It's a lot different than the last time we came but still no fun. All the lots are used now with field numbers so you know where to park but they wouldn't let us park closer to field 14 even though there was so much open parking - because the crew was parking people on the far side. There's also more deluxe trailer restrooms than last time but they were all pretty rank. The parking lot is so pitted I don't know how some people got their low profile cars 1/2 mile down these roads that are graded like the moon. Field 1 was good though for one game; we parked 10 feet from where we sat under a little tree because it was brutally hot. The restaurant that used to offer some respite with AC and a cold beer is no longer open to the public. There's nothing here but $2 sodas from the food truck or and Italian ice in the sun and wind. The left turn coming off Temecula Pkwy seems pretty dangerous. It's always backed up, people taking chances in a big rush to go park because the 15 was so backed up. We saw a pretty bad accident. Can't believe there's not a light. I'm still cleaning the dirt off everything from our long weekend here. $10 to park is about what I'd expect but they've got to put some money back into the facilities. This review is for the soccer field only. I haven't been to the winery or restaurant. First of all this is our "home"field, we have to pay $8 to park on our home field? Maybe that wouldn't matter if the parking were nice, but it's just a dirt lot with no real easy access to the soccer field. We needed handicapped parking and were told there was no designated handicapped parking. We found our own spot. The fields are not clearly numbered so there were tons of people wandering around trying to find their team. There are 4 portable potties set up behind field 22. Its in a far corner of the field. If you have to go to the bathroom prepare to hike thru muddy uneven grass. Probably the worst thing about this field is the millions of tiny jumping spiders that bombard you. We couldn't even enjoy the game because we were too busy swatting these pesky insects off our legs and feet! Creepy! Bring your own shade. They only have one area lined with trees at the far end behind the field. This is not an ideal venue for soccer matches. Do not recommend. read more

I don't enjoy having to pay $10 to park and get my car dirty, requiring a compete outside and inside cleaning after. No accommodations for disabled parking. They make you park far from everything and tell you that they will send a cart. After 20 min they send a cart with seating for one when clearly I was asking for a ride for all my guests and not just myself. Furthermore they force you park where they tell you. This meant that several cars where getting stuck because they force you to park in 12 inches of soft dirt. Very poor planning and likely illegal not to have accommodations for disabled individuals. read more

I was a little scared off by some of the reviews but it wasn't that bad. Just went to Galway Downs for a soccer tournament. It has a great setting with horses all around. To get to the field is a long walk(bring comfortable shoes) but doable. Grandparents might not like this location because of all the walking. Allow at least 30 minutes to walk to the farthest fields. There are shuttles they run on golf carts which sometimes takes a while to catch. Your wagon won't fit on the shuttle. The porta potties were not good so bring hand sanitizer for sure. There are a couple of fancy portable bathrooms in trailers that are available even though they didn't have soap or paper towels but they did have a bottle of hand sanitizer and running water to rinse off. On Saturday morning it was very cold at 7:30a but it warmed up to 75 and sunny not much wind. On Sunday it was very windy and dust kicked up. Bring sunglasses and stakes for your EZ Ups even though I don't recommend bringing anything heavy because of the long walk. Our wagon came in really handy for chairs, food etc. Bring plenty of bottled water. There isn't a fountain to fill up water bottles. Everyone brought outside food. There were no signs or people walking around saying no outside food was allowed like someone said in an old review. Parking was $10 per day but you can leave and come back without being charged again just save your stub. Parking in the pasture was a little bumpy for sure but it wasn't raining so there wasn't any mud but I could see it getting muddy and miserable if it was raining. The vendors did take credit cards but bring cash for the parking. No ATM's. Also, make sure you bring an umbrella for shade there is not natural shade accept for some very small trees which didn't provide much shade. Bring a big hat and sunscreen. It would've been nice if they had a few officials at the front to provide hospitality to help guide people to the fields or answer any questions. Your pretty much on your own. Just imagine your going to the beach for the day. Bring everything you would for the beach and you'll enjoy it. Just hope it doesn't rain. read more
