Did I need to store my things in a concrete bunker? Maybe. Do I feel safer knowing belongings are 8…read morefeet above the ground behind walls of solid concrete? Yup! Maybe I'll shelter here during the next hurricane. All kidding aside, this building will be standing long after I'm gone. Modern facility with photos hidden throughout showing the renovation from an old brewery. Super unique spot for storage with great lighting. Feels like I'm walking through a part of Galveston history.

Moved in several years ago. Saw a bunch of bad reviews back then, but I try things out before I…read morebelieve others. While the building is built well and no storm is going to take the place down. The units are high enough to not have water issues, too. When there are people there and they sit in a office ... they are management people. What they do I have no clue. Unlike the majority of other storage units they DO NOT use contracts. Yea, buddy you are on your own. There is something to be said for the use of contracts. This place states that the owner does frequent checks on other storage units in the area which could include Houston, Dallas, Cut n Shoot and ten buck two. The find the highest and raise your rates. Supposedly, this happens ever half year, but a friend of mine who rents here had her rent go up after the first five months. He was not exactly jumping with joy. So, let's look at some other aspects. Each floor has lots of units. Every row and every column has street names. That is a unique idea...however, if you don't have a map as what direction (north/south/east/west) it is not worth a hill of beans. If you own a compass you might try that or just right yourself a set of directions: Up the elevator, floor 2, get off, walk until you see a unit and turn Left, walk until you see a intersection, turn right, and then, continue: Right, Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Left, Right. the third locker on my left side is the one. Did you get that? Practice- you will eventually get that. One year went by and .... I received my Happy First Year Renter's note- Do Not Pass Go until you pay an extra $45 bringing my grand total not including $175. That made me feel like I was part of the family and now, poorer than I was when I first rented... for the reasonable amount of $99. I was not given a cleaner floor to walk on, the same dust was floating on the floor and the bathroom still did not have any toilet tissue. So, I went two months and received a notice that the alarm for the unilt had gone up in price. Had do alarms go up in price? They are not new, no one monitors them, they do not make a sound. Hmm. It doubled in price. Now we are in the middle of year two- in that large office I have seen a total of ..... 9 different people! I think the climate is so cool in there it was time to have a party but invite pary goers on different days. The 7th person ran off with the alley cat or that was the rumour. The 8th person said that the old owner was too old to own. What a flipping place. Not finished.... there are other older buildings in Galvatraz to consider. Consider them until I return to put the cherry on top.
