They almost have a monopoly in Santa fe area. The "lady" and i use that term loosely that runs the place is mean, nasty and vicious. She is almost never there, even during business hours. I tried several time to go there to pay a bill as i was unsure of the amount due and couldn't use the dropbox. Each time there was a message that said gone to the bank, or post office or lunch etc... After 3 tries on different days i called the phone number of the gate. The manager answered already annoyed. I told her i have tried to come by several times but no one is ever there. She snappily responded she had things to attend to and was at Arlan's Market? Not sure what that has to do with anything but ok.... She then said something to the fact that the sign on the door said she was gone and i should come back. I replied yes, it says you went to the bank and would be back in a few minutes (not Arlans Market). She then gruffly said.... well i will be back at 12:00 noon if you want to wait. I then responded, "Ma'am, it is already 12:15pm". She said, "I'll be there soon", and hung up. My wife and i waited. She pulled up in a car with the words, "Sassy" written largely on the back window. My wife looked at me and said, "oh boy, you are in trouble". The manager went inside and motioned for me to come in. I got out of my vehicle and got to the door when she burst out, almost hitting me in the head with the door and began to point at the sign saying "YOU SEE THIS". I responded, " I am a customer how dare you talk to me this way". That really got her going. I responded with, "just let me pay my bill and i will see the owners about your behavior". I left. The Haak's who own the winery own these storage units. I went there and asked to see one of the owners. I waiting and Mrs. Haak came out. She immediately, loudly said, "Oh, so you are the irate customer". I was shocked. I tried calmly talking to her and she did listen. At the end, she said the manager deals with a lot of "idiots" and has to talk to them this way. Again, i was shocked. She alluded to my education level, and said most people who are customers there are very unintelligent. I responded," that may be but don't they still deserve respect." These people are crooks. In the 6 years we stored our belongings there, they continuously stopped taking our automatic payments out then sent us letters 3 months later telling us our stuff was up for auction. They claimed our card was declined, but the more you talk to these trashy people, the truth eventually comes out and the owner says "I forgot, okay. I forgot to take your money out." That person is incredibly rude and must have an awful, good for nothing life to treat others that way. Sucks for them, though. We knew they would do this again and already got all of the stuff we want out of there when we were caught up on 9 months worth of no payments taken out by them, plus their bull late fees. We have been using this storage facility for almost a year. I was leary at first because of the bad reviews but the price and location worked for us. We have had no problems. Early on the lady in the office was a bit grouchy but not overly rude. Lately a young girl has been in there and she is very sweet. My assessment is communicate well, be nice and don't give them any crap and you shouldn't have a problem. read more
