Cool hunting/fishing cabin in the middle of nowhere. Really spacious inside. Somewhat nerve wracking if you're checking in later in the night. It's located about 30 miles/ 30 minutes from west entrance of Yellowstone

Our room was spacious, spotless, and had everything we needed ... a full kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator, pots, pans, dishes, and silverware. The beds were really comfortable too. The Super 8 in Livingston, 54 miles from the north entrance at Gardiner, offered a room for $114. And those are the cheap end. I kept looking and found Lure Me Inn in Ennis, Mont. Sure, it's 70 miles from Yellowstone (an hour north on a highway with a 70-mile-an-hour speed limit). It's a beautiful drive that takes you past Quake Lake, formed in 1959 when a magnitude 7.5 earthquake dumped 80 million tons of rock into the Madison River and formed the lake. The Madison is a renowned fly-fishing stream for rainbow trout. The rate for a cabin with one bed was $75. I believe the cabins with two beds went for $89. The open room includes the bed, a dining table, a two-burner stove, refrigerator and microwave. Dishes, utensils and pots and pans were also supplied. There was also wireless Internet and DISH network television. The separate bathroom included a combination tub and shower. There was also a sitting bench and plenty of towels. Owners Melissa and Tom Rogers were friendly and clearly enjoy hosting people. They were a delight.

There wasn't room for anything else. The kitchen seemed to be well stocked until we wanted coffee. They furnished the a 12-cup coffee pot, but all we could find was 3 little bags of coffee that make 9 ounces each. If you don't wash the dishes you use, you get charged. I couldn't help but wonder who had previously washed my coffee cup. I ended up washing it before and after use.

The vibe here is definitely small town-it's run by the same folks who have been there for many years. I ordered the biscuits and gravy breakfast special and was truly disappointed. The flavor was bland and the gravy was watery-not worth the $20 price tag. My dining partner had an omelet that looked like it had every ingredient in the kitchen thrown together. It was huge! He seemed to be pleased with it. The ambience was cozy-especially when we had a morning snow in late June-all the patrons kept walking to the window to take videos (including me!) Grant it the pancake is gigantic still not worth the price. It who'd of been a nice courtesy to tell us before we ordered them that one pancake could feed 3. Our bill ended up being $134 for 4 adults and 2 kids for food that can't t compare to a Waffle House. On the positive side the cinnamon roll and coffee were great. Definitely a one time experience due to the cost. Highway robbery.

The room is spacious and would be great with some investment in new furniture, some needed updates, and a very deep clean. It has a great location with a lovely view of the lake. But... It was unclear where the office was located. There wasn't an office sign. Clutter stacked around the doors including an old beat up piano - maybe a remodel project is going on? We watched and killed flying insects coming into the room from a crack under the door. We left the spider that was there to hopefully catch the ones we missed. Mattresses were low grade and old. The beds and pillows were sprayed with some kind of strong chemical scent/deodorizer - the entire room smelled what we guessed was Odo-ban. my daughter with Asthma was unable to sleep in the bed and had to sleep on the futon under our jackets. There was no extra bedding for the futon. Bedroom furniture was very old particle board that was water warped, chipped, and abraded on the edges. Stove was filthy - the drip pans were rusted and full of burned on food. Appeared like they hadn't been cleaned or replaced in years. The refrigerator was old and the racks inside were rusted. The dishes were stored under the sink beneath the drain trap, which feels very unhygenic. $15 fee if you left any dirty dishes. We were really looking forward to spending the day enjoying the beautiful view but instead we are leaving as quickly as we can. We are looking forward to getting to our next hotel to shower and finally rest comfortably.

Tongue in groove furniture, the best mattress one can buy, high quality appliances, heavy weight eating utensils, quiet, sound proof walls, great customer service. The difference between a five star hotel and, say, a three star, is in the details. This place certainly reminded me of my infrequent stays in a five star. No corporate, bland, everything in neutral colors here, instead, the decorations were done with skill, professionalism and passion. Great little touches like, not just a pull out couch, but a pull out ottoman. (don't try and move that thing, it is heavy!) Cute, but not overly cutesy, rustic outdoor themed touches. Clean, clean, clean. Two giganto TVs. Plenty of pillows and extra bedding. Open the cabinets and you will find a useful slew of small kitchen appliances and an outdoor lantern. And there are a couple of super nice grills for your use! This really feels more like some wealthy family's In-law apartment instead of a hotel. The only little issue, and it is small, is that a big truck will have a hard time fitting into the small parking lot and small spaces. We had a handicap placard but there were no handicap spaces near our apartment. First world problem. And here is a hint. If you want to get to the cute little grocery store across the street, there is an alleyway that goes through the Super 8 parking lot. We went on the off-season and paid a fraction of what the place is worth. Go us. However, when the prices rise to summer prices, I promise that you will still get your money's worth at this place.

But not did I learn how to cast a fly (and land a Trout!), but my visit to Madison Valley Ranch ended up being one of the best trips I've ever taken. From the moment you walk in the door, the ranch rolls out the red carpet. After being welcomed with a cold draft beer and tour of the property, we settled into our very comfortable guest rooms to unwind before dinner. Whether you plan to fly fish or not, the entire ranch is designed to make you feel at ease, and at home -- from the incredible back porch views to the outrageously good dishes served up at every meal. Manu and her team take customer service to a new level, from equipping you for an incredible day on the river to selecting the perfect bottle of Cabernet to pair with your dinner. I simply can't say enough about Madison Valley Ranch -- whether you're an experienced fisherman or just learning to cast a fly, it's hard to imagine a better place in America to put your rod into the river.
