Something lets go, there's the sound of rushing water, and the whole downstairs fills up with steam. It was so thick I couldn't even see a foot in front of me in the basement as my plumber, Darren Powers, talked me through on the phone how to shut the furnace down, and which valve to turn to get the water to stop. Man! What a mess.... Darren was such a help to me. Though he had been up since early that morning working a job when I reached him at around 7:00 pm, he came over as soon as he could around 9:00 pm and worked on stabilizing things until about 10:30 pm so nothing else would happen. Because it was Saturday, he wasn't able to come back until Monday after gathering all the parts and equipment needed to fix the furnace and burst pipe line. I've known Darren for years, and he's helped me on many occasions. Each time, he came as soon as he could, did great work, and cleaned up the resulting mess after. I've trusted him numerous times to come in to do his work even when I wasn't home. And he's always been more than fair with not only his prices, but also his time. The appointment was made for "between 3-4 PM". Scott arrive at about 4:10. Not a big deal but it led to a very hurried appointment which was fine as I had another shortly afterward. Scott looked at the tub and quickly (30 seconds) determined that the faucet couldn't be replaced without tearing into the base to get at the plumbing. Fine. He doesn't sell small filters so that for the kitchen sink so that was nixed. He spent maybe a minute or two looking at the filter system, determined that the filer was fine and told me what size to replace it with when the time comes. We discussed the cost of a well pump replacement for maybe another two minutes. He was here at our home for MAYBE 10 minutes and other than taking quick looks at the three items mentioned, no work was performed and no parts asked for or delivered. Our bill? $100. We found that to be an outrageous amount considering the above and time involved. I answered Scott's email bill expressing that I would pay promptly but that I thought the cost was way out of line for the "service" provided. I also enclosed a note with my check expressing my displeasure with his charge. His only response was to cash my check. Never again will I call on Thursty Water Systems of Wolfeboro

Since I was going to have some plumbing work done, I went for the shower/tub mixing value replacement and a new water heater too. I was in communication with Jenine and scheduled the work.
