Beef Biltong supposed to be a South African delicacy with beef air dried instead of smoked to create that unique taste and texture... (and the addition seasoning of Peri Peri sure helps with the taste!) My friend at first was really skeptical... since the Beef Biltong in the fridge looks not too appetizing but after she start eating that, she could not stop!... Beef Biltong is something that you have to eat every single bites of it before you can stop, that is addictive! There are also bottles of condiments, sauces, seasonings that are all from South Africa... which is quite unique and you cannot find in a supermarket near you! The store is nicely maintained, the store owner is so so nice... asked me if I want a cookie... hey not going to say no... yes please!

It was with that search that I found there is limited supply of South African foods and basically no authentic restaurants available derived from that region. Btw, Moroccan and Ethiopian are not of that region. The same search of Peri Peri lead me to find South African specialties such as Boerwors(Farmer's Sausage) and Biltong(Cured Meat). While there might be a handful within the GTA and surrounding areas, this location is the closest and most convenient for me. This is not a large shop by any means as they do sales on their website but if you do come by, the friendly owner is there to greet you. Inside is a lightly African themed shop that consists mostly of Can, Dry, Package Goods. They are mostly unique as to your local Grocery Store probably will not stock the same items. Most noticeable was a Spillers Peri Peri Oil, the Freezer of Boerwors, Fridge of Biltongs, Mrs H. S. Ball's Chutneys, and a good selection of Candies and Chocolates. Florence Meats Peri Peri Biltong($6.50/100g) tasted like Jerky Beef except it's cut thin and against the grain with flakes of Peri Peri for flavour. As with any Jerky Beef it can get addiction as a snack and noted by a friend it tasted like Chinese Cured Meat.

When I confronted the cashier about it, he said the computer said 16.99 and it's the most updated price. If the computer said 1000 dollars, am I supposed to pay 1000 dollars? The agreed contract price is 15.99 and that should be that. Later the cashier went to the back (assuming to talk to the manager/owner), and he gave me back a loonie (technically it should have been 1.13, but whatever). This place chose to use metal utensils instead of single use ones. The knife he gave me was quite disgustingly dirty (see pic). The food itself was decent. And for the amount of food, the price is very reasonable. I got the Raven Platter. My friend's fish platter was also decent, but looking at the texture and color, we couldn't tell if it was cooked thoroughly or not. We chose to keep eating and hope for the best. I finished most of my food, but I couldn't really comfortably eat all of the food, not knowing whether the plate or anything else they used was really clean to begin with. I'll come back and edit the review should anything happen :/ We probably should have brought up the price discrepancy issue AFTER we got our food. Needless to say, not gonna come back. Quality: 6/10. Service: 3/10. Value: 7/10. Overall: 3.5/10 (Not an average).

Fine, we switch from dine-in to takeout. After we paid, they said we had to wait 20-25 mins because full chicken isn't cooked yet. They wanted us to switch to half chicken. At this point we gave up, asked for refund and left. Should have flagged to customer if something isn't readily available before they order and pay!

It's located in a plaza with a bunch of box stores, as part of SmartCentres Etobicoke. My first two visits were Yelp experiences, which allowed me to sample a bunch of yummy food: - Spicy, garlicky kale caesar salad with lemon herb chicken - PERi chicken rainbow bowl - PERi mac - Naughty nata - Strawberry lemonade I loved everything that I ate. It's nice to shake things up. I either get chicken with a couple of sides or chicken wings. The caesar salad had a nice garlicky, spicy kick to it. Kale is generally tough and boring, but it was the opposite experience and was enjoyable to eat. The rainbow bowl was also awesome. I'd let to get it again and hope that the place has avocados. It ran out of them, but I got a grilled pineapple instead. So good! I love mac and cheese. The PERi mac has different spin on it. It's less cheesy than your traditional mac and cheese. It was offered as a side, but I'd love it as a main course. It's the crunchy topping that makes this mac perfect. I recently returned to get some more naughty natas (Portuguese egg tarts). This place makes yummy natas. I got a couple. The woman at the counter asked if I wanted them warmed up. I declined because I'd likely eat them on my way home. Well, she only had warmed-up ones. I said yes to them. They didn't have a chance. I devoured them well before I got home. Each nata has the best flaky exterior. The creamy custard was divine with a touch of sweetness. Delicious! My fountain drink experience was different. I paid for my drink during my first visit, to wash my food down. I went to get a drink from the fancy fountain machine. I first selected Fanta sugar-free grape. I got to hit the button once before all Fanta flavours were unavailable (all selections were greyed out). What horrible timing! I had dispensed more ice in my drink that I had expected, so I ended up getting more refills. My first drink was a mix of Fanta grape and Coke Zero lime. It was different... haha! I do like the Coke Zero line here. The flavours are excellent. My next refill was Coke Zero raspberry. Delicious! Before I left this restaurant, I did one final refill of Coke Zero cream soda. I love this machine and Coke Zero flavours that didn't shut down on me. I've paid with both credit and debit cards. I've never done cash because I rarely have some on me. You have the option to tip. The downside is the design of this plaza. If you are visiting businesses in this 427-North Queen Street corner, driving in is easy. Exiting is a nightmare. You basically have one lane to exit, where you are converging with another lane with customers who have shopped at larger box stores, such as Marshalls and PetSmart. After my first visit, I was trying to leave this plaza on a Saturday afternoon. It took me twenty minutes to finally drive away and get on with my day. On my recent visit last Saturday, I looked both ways before making a left turn. Out of nowhere, a car on my right was going way too fast. I slammed on my brakes. He apologized. It was odd and scary. Maybe I'll turn right next time and try a different, safer way to exit. Perhaps there will be stops signs or a speed limit sign posted the next time I'm here. (172)

I couldn't let the opportunity pass. The dining space? Bright, clean, inviting. Modern but casual. Off to a genuinely good start. And then... things went south. I ordered the peri-peri chicken with two sides. The wait was excruciating. Not just long--confusing. Every single person who ordered after me was eating while I sat there wondering if my ticket got lost in another country. When the chicken finally arrived, I was stunned--and not in a good way. Easily the smallest leg/thigh combo I've ever seen. Yes, I'm used to USA-sized, GMO-filled chickens, but I've eaten plenty overseas. This wasn't "European portioning." This was kiddie-sized. Flavor? Underwhelming. Forgettable. Nothing that made me pause, nothing that lingered. For a place built on peri-peri heat and personality, this was shockingly flat. I can get chicken with more punch at my local Grocery & Go. The mac and cheese had decent texture--the breadcrumbs did their job--but flavor-wise? Completely bland. Zero soul. The fries? Although well seasoned, we're like warm. Overhyped things rarely deliver, and Nando's sadly fits the bill. Massive disappointment is the phrase that keeps coming to mind

These restaurant is vibrantly decorated with bright colors and has a lot of dine in options. I think this is a great place to come with little kids, because of them being able to accommodate small children needing high chairs. The service can be a little slow, especially if you are there on a busy day, but the servers are very kind! Now on to the food, for my lunch I had ordered a 1/2 chicken (Extra Hot) with Rice and Hearty Coleslaw. I was anticipating for this to be really spicy considering I ordered Extra Hot, but unfortunately this lacked the heat I wanted. Yes the sauces at Nandos are great, but you need a lot of it to be able to really get that flavor. The chicken is very juicy and has that charcoal grill flavor you'll love. Overall was a great place to dine in and would come again! 7/10 recommend!

This time I went to a Yelp Elite Event. I hadn't been back since then and was pleasantly surprised to see that the restaurant had been renovated and now has bright and cheerful decor. In addition to the complimentary meal that we received, we ordered the PERi-PERi Chicken Bowl. We were shocked when we saw that it came with three very small pieces of chicken. What was even more shocking was how dry and overcooked the chicken was. It was almost like having chicken jerky. For $16, we expected a bit more. The rice was flavourful, but it could not make up for the chicken we got.
