I figured I'd call a local tailor to see if they did same day alterations to save me time of trying to find one back in the SF Area. I called a couple tailors late on a Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and most shops were already closed. Luckily for me, Tailoring by Fernando was still open, and in the area I was staying. I gave them a call an a woman answered, she sounded extremely busy but she said if I could get there before 6 pm (it was already 5:15 pm), then she would take a look at the dress and see if she could get it done the same day. We arrived to the shop around 5:50 pm, she looked at the garment and said she could have it hemmed by 7. I put the dress on and she marked it up, I pre-paid the cost via Venmo (cash only place), and I was on my way. She noted she'd text/call me when it was ready. I got a little nervous when I didn't hear from her around 6:50 PM but just around 7:00 she sent me a message that the dress would be ready by 8:00 PM. The work was great and she also steamed the dress for me. I felt the price ($65) was reasonable for the alterations to this evening gown, which was a rush request. I had my dress altered and steamed within a couple of hours! This definitely saved me time, money, and stress!

She immediately put me at ease by explaining that the dress wasn't as problematic as I thought and that the design was meant to drape a certain way. At the same time, she validated my concerns about the fit, managed my expectations beautifully, and presented thoughtful options -- including a couple that didn't even require her services. Ultimately, she suggested adding a discreet clasp to provide support and concealment without compromising the cut or flow of the dress. She completed it in under five minutes, using a transparent clasp and perfectly color-matched thread. The craftsmanship was seamless. She charged me a very nominal fee, and when I tried to tip her, she insisted it was too much and even handed a few dollars back. Talk about integrity -- fair, honest, and truly old-school. I absolutely loved the experience and will most definitely be back.
