This is how many of the autumn blooms Amherst has every fall. Add the uncountable loads of other flower and plants in spring and it's a Mecca for garden buffs. Calling a place a Mecca is cliche, old hat, probably overused on Yelp. But the metaphor absolutely fits this greenhouse. First they have five full acres under roof. Secondly, it will take a pilgrimage to get there, for it's way out in the rural plains south of Lima. Just go to the middle of nowhere, take a left to bum F Egypt, head towards the boondocks of the sticks, and you'll be halfway there. It is off the narrow Allen county road of Amherst in-between State route 196 and 117. In fact the biggest neg is the traffic jam on the undeveloped street that occurs in the spring when the highly popular greenhouse attracts gardeners from all over the state. Turning in its gravel lane showcases a lovely maintained house beside a sparkling pond and manicured flower patches. Towering above are the greenhouses that seems to go on endlessly. Here a abundant choices grow under what could be miles of sprinklers, and miles of piping with plotted plants hanging down. The selection is a eye-popping plane of annuals, perennials, and veggies. Shrubs, bushes, trees, and a few rustic wooden garden decor round out their Jupiter size enclosures. They are open seasonally: April until late spring/ summer. Then they open up again in the fall selling the previously mentioned mums with pumpkins, squashes, and gourds. Daily hours are limited: 9-5 Monday through Friday; 9-12 Saturday. A family biz, Amherst has an interesting origin story. In 2002, the family started a 10 X 20 greenhouse to grow flowers themselves. They ended up growing too many so they put a sign up by the driveway. Soon all the extra flowers were gone. In response to the demand they put up a larger greenhouse and sold 700 Chrysanthemums that fall. From then the business grew exponentially. It is an experience if you dig plants and are in the area.

We just moved into the area. We went because we are completly redoing our backyard. Zack helped…read moreus and was great! We spent over $600.00 and still have much more to buy. Zack and his female manager help us and knew that we were buying items that would not be planted right away. Infact they set up to have a guy named Tony contact us about installing our plants. Zack many times told us that the plants we buy come with a two year warrranty. Tony did not call us for three weeks! Buy then we had found someone else. I bought 4 arborvities(sp)? One of them looked different than the others when it came time to plant. We decided to have the guy that was installing them not put that one in and we took it back down to them. Well you really find out alot about a business in how they conduct themselves after the sale! The person female said she was the manager. Did not want to take the tree back. She kept stating that we had to plant it within 48 hours for the warranty to be good. I got on the phone with her and had a heated conversation. She kept saying this was all in the warranty brochure we gave you when you purchased! Duh, never gave us any info only receipt! She finally agreed to exchange the tree. Then tells us that the warranty only covers the plants you buy for two years, however, here is the CATCH, they will replace the plant once! So if your plant dies within a month. Then they give you a new one, and it dies again a month later, your done! Not much of a two year warranty. Time specific warranty usually means that you are made whole for the specified period of time. I also asked on that day that the owner calls me when he got back in. Of course never heard anything, so I spent $2500 at another business! Hope it was worth the intial sale to lose my business forever.

After leaving a very positive review last year it pains me to update this, but based on my…read moreexperience with Bob's over the past few months, I will no longer consider shopping with Bob's and I certainly don't want to encourage others to shop with Bob's given my experience regardless of how well things started. I ordered a significant amount of furniture for my home, my daughter's home, and my wife's office last year. And, as I stated before, I found the sales people helpful and the deliveries positive. But, WOW...Bob's service department is a complete mess. I had a very simple issue with my touch lights not working on a headboard I called about in January. First, they made me wait two weeks for a tech to come out and confirm what I already knew...the control box on the back has gone bad. Then I waited several more weeks before calling to find out when they were going to come out and fix it only to find out the part was delayed. They said they would cancel that order and order it again with a rush and have it within a week and after another two weeks of not hearing from them, I called again only to be told it wouldn't be in until May. Then they decided they would just bring an entire new headboard out, which just seemed silly given I only needed the box on the back, but I agreed and scheduled for today...another two weeks from that call. I was given a 3 hour window, then a message saying they would be an hour later than the window, and then called at the end of the hour later to hear it would still be even longer, which at this point would not work do to evening engagements. At one point, I tried to call and a person answered on their customer service line and proceeded to laugh for several moments before hanging up on me. When I finally did talk with a supervisor, my only resolution was canceling today's headboard and per my strong request, simply have the part shipped to me and I would fix it myself. Of course, no timeframe offered for when the part would get here and at this point I really don't expect it to arrive at all. Bottom line...no matter how helpful the sales staff is and the initial deliveries are, if I can't trust that any issues that come up with my guaranteed merchandise will be taken care of promptly and appropriately, I simply will not do business with them and I would encourage everyone else to think of the long game when making these significant purchases as well. Bob's really didn't back anything up from the initial assurances and guarantees made to me and now I'm simply terrified if anything more significant goes wrong with anything I've purchased from them.
