Even the kids section is fantastic and my son really loved our visit. They do a variety of special events and the staff are just super nice. I was horrified to hear the staff berating a woman who had her mask down in the store. The ignorant staffer asked if she had a virology degree and insisted that a cloth mask was mandatory even though the woman had put it back up. Even Fauci at this point has said cloth masks don't stop the spread of this virus. It's disturbing that staff can be belligerent to customers as mandates are about to be dropped literally tomorrow. Never will I shop here again.

The University of Guelph has an absolutely fantastic certified organic urban farm that you can…read morevolunteer at, learn from, or visit to purchase fantastic, affordable, local organic produce from during their fall Farmer's Market (Thursdays from 12:30 - 4:30 through the end of October and cash only; check their website to confirm.) I toured the farm with a small group after a conference at Guelph University. We got to try a bunch of the produce that was growing - including phenomenal cherry tomatoes, and the best carrot I've ever eaten in my life. The farm teaches students and community members, supplies food to the community and to local chefs, and helps the university by composting all their waste and providing a lot of the vegetables used in university dining halls. They grow a ton of specialty and interesting fruits and veggies - litchi tomatoes, lemongrass, bitter melon, tons of leafy greens, asparagus, and more. They're a model of sustainable, community based agriculture. Word on the street is that the University is trying to pave over a huge portion of the farm for a new research center. The E-bar was the location for my networking reception during an event this past weekend…read more I can't comment much on the actual food they may provide, but from what was offered in the reception, I enjoyed the food very much. They had a large selection of cheese varieties available ranging from camembert to blue cheese, as well as assorted veggies with dipping sauce, grilled flatbread, and homemade panko-crusted meatballs. The event space was large and overall decent, although the seating could've been arranged better, as the booths were quite tight considering our party. The acoustics were also quite loud, and voices were bouncing off the walls like crazy, which made conversations quite difficult. Other than that, the bar did a very good job accompanying us, and my group was satisfied with the night overall.

I finally went over to the bar and asked for a menu. I was matter-of-factly told that there was no table service on Fridays. We weren't quite sure why - seeing as the waiter to patron ratio was approximately 1:4. We thought we'd just cut our losses - and were getting up to leave - when the waitress later popped by with a menu - saying, "I thought you were waiting for people..." Wow - really?? This review was written from a lovely bar just down the street which does in fact provide table service on Friday night.

RATING FOR OUTDOOR SCULPTURE GARDEN…read more We were in Guelph for hubby's work assignment; and as a good Yelper/budget tourist, I had to scope out interesting and free spots to explore in the city. It was a holiday weekend so the museum itself was closed; but the outdoor sculpture garden is always open, even on holidays and weekends. The Donald Forster Sculpture Park takes up 2 1/2 acres, and is the "largest sculpture park at a public gallery in Canada, featuring 39 works by prominent Canadian and international artists" - website. There are many trees to shade you from the sun, but only a few places to sit if you want to rest. I adore outdoor sculpture gardens because they combine art and beautiful landscaping. The sculptures were easy to locate since they were in the museum's perimeter. I was happy that I able to find all of them without much effort; and since they were positioned close together, I could take my time admiring each piece.
