Always have great films playing that you won't find at the regular cinemas. Small but cozy! The cafe in the front is also a plus!

Grand old cinema showing independent films year round. Comfortable seats, chill atmosphere. Perfect setting for art house movies.

Love this theatre - especially the VIP section. No kids (age restriction 19+) and comfy leather…read morerecliners. The wait staff only takes orders at your seat until the movie starts then you need to order from the bar. The food was ok. Popcorn was yummy Beer, wine, and cocktails available The only thing that would have made it better is if the recliners go further back and the ability to order from your seat during the movie (like they do at AMC theatres in the USA).

I visited this location for the Sept 3 for their $3 tickets for any seat. So I went in for the…read moreSpider Man movie and booked DBOX seats. The location was lively at the 10pm seating. When you walk in there's an automated kiosk on the left and you can take escalator, elevator or stairs. Extremely accessible. You are welcomed by the food options and the washroom is on the right with plenty of stalls. On the right was where you can go to the auditoriums and my room was 1. One mistake I made was I booked the seat 23 and 24 which was on the opposite side. The seats didn't incline but you can adjust the intensity. I would say the DBOX programming was okay but not amazing, my mother criticized how some moments the chair randomly shook. It was my first time experiencing DBOX. I was sort of expecting it similar to my experience at Universal/Adventure island muffets show. Sadly it was quite muted for an experience. Having tried the regular theatre, the 4dx and the dbox, I would say dbox prevents you from snoozing for sure. Still a fan of the Netflix and Disney plus. But certainly another way to enjoy yourself and be amused.

Last weekend, I decided to end my four-month movie-watching drought. I had been meaning to see…read moreCrazy Rich Asians. Thankfully, it was still playing at this theatre at Conestoga Mall. I headed over for a matinee. It's funny that I have known about this theatre for ages, but had never visited it before. There is plenty of parking. It helps that the theatre is at a mall. It does not connect directly to a mall entrance. You need to leave the theatre and go into the mall instead. It's a decent theatre. There aren't a ton of auditoriums, but it works for me. It's cozy. There is a ton of leg room and it's roomy. The only annoyance was with two women who came late into the show and decided to hold a conversation throughout the movie. Ugh! The movie was great. The screen was pristine and the sound was perfect. I didn't hit the concession stand. I had just had lunch, so I was good. (360)

I want to believe that this is the best movie theatre around, but really, I'm not feeling it. Galaxy Cinemas at Conestoga Mall was the first big box multiplex to come to the City of Waterloo. I remember when it was first built I was so excited. I remember lining up for blockbuster movies in the cold. And I remember that despite the inconvenience it was fun to hang out with the others in line. The thing is, time after time when I came here I would be disappointed. Prices are high and there are better amenities elsewhere. However, I am not really interested in making a big trip to go see a movie, so I keep coming back... I want to believe that this theatre can do better, and I hope I am right... I guess only time will tell!
