We used Gaia Xtreme Tours to visit Matacanes and they did an exceptional job. The following is a review of their tour of Matacanes, which was an AMAZING, adventurous and challenging! Check the weather forecast to ensure you are going on what will be a hot day as the water is COLD and even on a hot day I imagine parts could be cold. BUT, if you are going on a cold day (as we did) don't give up - just bring/wear more protective clothing. Do bring gloves for rappelling (bike gloves are a great option and are available at Walmart.) Do bring/wear a camelback for water as they don't bring for you and it's great to have both of your hands free to hike/walk through the water (especially since after you are soaked, your shoes will be are slippery). Regular tennis shoes with tread work just fine - no need to buy special water shoes. Everything you bring should be entirely sealed as you swim a significant portion of the time. Overall, the adventure itself took 11 hours, the ride there 2ish hours and the ride back 1.5ish hours. Lunch (small bag of tuna and a piece of chocolate) was late so be sure to bring snacks if you need and/or eat a good breakfast. Dinner was a choice between beef tacos and hamburgers, though baked potatoes may also be available. read more
