Excellent views of Monterrey and plenty of hiking trails in this beautiful park! With an extra free day in Monterrey, I decided to take an Uber up to Chipinque. There is a fee to enter the park and permits are required for La M summit, however there are plenty of non-permit trail options to explore. I was dropped off near Hotel Chipinque and hiked to Meseta del Pinal and then took another trail across to the Park entrance gate where I was able to catch a ride back into Monterrey. The hike was about 7 miles and the view from Pinal was worth it. Important side note: It was easy to catch a ride up to Chipinque, but I couldn't get an Uber back down. I repeatedly requested a trip back to central Monterrey, but every driver canceled on me. I finally hitch a ride back down, but people were happy and willing to give me a ride.
Beautiful park in the mountains just outside Monterrey! Great trails for hiking, biking, or a scenic walk, with stunning views of the city and surrounding Sierra Madre. Well-maintained, peaceful, and perfect for nature lovers or a weekend escape. Note that getting an Uber can be tricky since the park is HUGE once you get to the main entrance and there is a lot more to drive to which Uber's may or may not be willing to take you to. We got a driver who we paid extra outside Uber to take us further into the park. read more

Parque Ecológico Chipinque is a must for hikers, nature lovers, and adventure enthusiasts visiting Monterrey/San Pedro Garza García. I dedicated a full day to exploring the park and ended up hiking roughly 14 miles roundtrip from the visitor center to El Pinal Viewpoint. It was the longest and hardest hike I've ever done on vacation (with roughly 2,500 feet of elevation gain), but it was so worth it! read more
This park provides a unique experience to explore the mountains and various hiking trails. The views from the lookouts are pretty spectacular; you're able to see Monterrey and surrounding mountains. The trails range from beginner to advanced, and you can opt for a short exursion or day-long hike. The short drive up to the entrance is windy and relaxing. Once you get on the trails, the sounds of the city are gone and all you're left with is nature. The trails are very clean and there are various lookouts. We hiked all the way to Praje del Piñal which provided one of the best views I've ever seen. There were also numerous animals along the trail including coati, lizards, a deer, birds, and eagles. read more

If you love hiking, this is for you! And even if you don't love hiking, there are very easy trails to take. If you refuse to put hiking shoes on, you can drive up. (Really, there's an option for everyone). Get away from the city and hike up the beautiful mountains to take in the panoramic views of Monterrey. This is a well-maintained park with so much to offer. I took an uber to the entrance, grabbed a map from the welcome center, and got some tips from the workers there. I did about a 1 hour hike up, which was made easier by the plenty of rest stops, and bathrooms available along the way. Somewhere in the park, there are these humongous cement slide! You know, the ones where you grab a piece of cardboard and slide the 50 m down. It was tons of fun. There were playgrounds, bike trails, and workout stations. I ran into plenty of [mostly harmless] wildlife along the way. Once you're high enough, the view is breathtaking! What a beautiful city. I didn't go all the way to the top, for lack of time. Also, it apparently gets very difficult and I would recommend having a buddy to go with. I was solo this time around. A must-do in Monterrey! read more

This park was nice and we did enjoy but we got on this trail and it was like 3 hours in the sun and we mostly saw huge bugs and a squirrel. Not so much wildlife and we were super hot. So don't be a wedgie and get caught unprepared - there is a place at the top where you can buy water so buy like a gallon of water for each person. Take an uber all the way to the top (meseta maybe??) and then buy water and then come down but bring sunscreen, a hat, an umbrella. OK carry on. read more

Beautiful park with spectacular view of the city. The hiking trail is on a more intermediate level and proper hiking shoes and lots of water is a must if you plan to hike to the top that is allowed by park rules. To actually reach the very top, they say you must be accompanied by a tour guide. Lots of rocks and some slippery surfaces. Also suggest going early in morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat. An alternative option is driving and you will run across several stops to take pics of the city view along w small area with playgrounds and picnic areas. You will see a lot of people getting professional photos taken here. read more
This is a MUST DO for Monterrey if you enjoy hiking. It's one of the easiest to get to/find, it's clean and there are trails throughout. You can choose to climb straight up the mountain by way of stairs, but my sister and I (on vacation for a week in Monterrey) chose to wind up the road with the cars. It was around 6am when we started (and when the park opens) so there were few cars and first light was around 6:30am so we enjoyed the breezy (though still slightly humid) morning. There is a nominal fee. After around 5 or 6 miles we reached the Meseta where a hotel sits. Throughout the climb there were a number of well-marked trails that we could have chosen to add on. All of the trails are marked for difficulty using the same system used for skiing (green circles for easy, blue squares for medium, and black diamond for difficult trails.) The park is very well-maintained, with minimal amounts of trash or other debris. At the top we chose the Pinal trail that turns into another trail (and is the longest loop, and also a black diamond). It was perhaps a 3-4 miles. We did not hike up to the famed "La Eme" but we saw the turn-off to do so. Along the trail, and at a number of the points where the road flattens out, there are playgrounds for children, outdoor exercise equipment, and even a butterfly garden. The museum at the beginning of the park has a nice gift shop and a great set of exhibits (mainly for children) that show pictures of the various forms of wildlife that you may see in Chipinque. read more
