This canyon is a FANTASTIC place to bike. We rented road bikes from EcoBikes right outside the entrance, which opens at 7am (and where you can also rent mountain bikes). Though there are guards at the entrance, you can arrive before and still enter without issue. BEWARE the road has very little shade so start early, bring plenty of water, and (especially if you're not biking) try to be finished complete by 11am. The mountains on either side of the road are breathtaking and the striations along the ridges, beautiful. There are small stores, communities, and farms alongside the road which we did not enter, but looked inviting. The path ends after 18 KM (11.4 miles) at a dam that one can climb, but we did not. Fun side note, the Tuesday we biked there we saw the Nuevo Leon Cycling Team practicing! We spent about 4.5 hours completing 100 KM of cycling (it's VERY flat, and the miles fly by.). read more
