Because it is right next to Wholefoods, I stumbled upon Gaia by accident when I first moved to winston-Salem 6 years ago and am am VERY happy that I did. As a serious, lifelong shopper of unique and beautiful things, I was amazed at what I found. A large and interesting shop filled to the brim with gorgeous, and I mean GORGEOUS, clothing, handbags, footwear, handcrafted jewelry, and accessories for women of all ages and walks of life. As a university professor, I have lived in many college towns in the US and frequently travel to our major cities and cities abroad but I have never seen such an artfully displayed and large selection of beautiful high end women's wear. All of the sales associates are lovely, helpful, and know the merchandise but Robbie -- the owner of the store who herself is an artist and a simply wonderful human being -- is what makes Gaia so special and unique. By any measure, Gaia is the very best boutique I've ever had the pleasure of shopping in. Although there are way too many to name in this review, Gaia carries special American and European lines such as Rundholtz Black Label, Griza, Skiff, Dress to Kill, Cynthia Ashby, Spirit House, CP Shades, Cut Loose, Comfy, Chalet, Fly London, and Wolky. Although i have not yet purchased one, my favorite item in Gaia is the hand picked group of stunning handmade bags made from antique Indian textiles.. The only problem with Gaia is that once you set foot into this exceptional women's boutique, you will find yourself back at the store everytime you make a grocery run to Wholefoods. I can't wait for Robbie to open her "home goods" shop, Blue Lotus, which will be a few doors down frrom Gaia after the new year. I have no doubt it too will carry exceptional and unique items that come from all around the globe. If you've not yet been there, I guarantee that anyone with discerning taste for high quality women's wear from head-to-toe will simply fall in love this extraordinary shop. read more
