Called and requested a AC tune up. Tune up was performed but tech came back stating two parts were going bad and quoted me a price of 1100 to fix. Came to fix my AC unit and said we needed a new part. We paid up front to order the part and the repair. The part was supposed to arrived 2 weeks ago! Have continued calling them to find out when they would be coming to replace the part and they can't tell us when the part will arrive. Can only speak to the receptionist they will not transfer us to the parts department. Have called and asked for a supervisor multiple times and always told they will call us back. 3 times this has happened with no call back. **New Installation Nightmare** Yesterday, GAC installed a new unit in my residence. Within hours, the unit was flooding my kitchen. I called the emergency number and they said they might be able to get someone out tomorrow. The repair person came hours late and said "well sorry there is nothing I can do. The unit has a broken pan and we have no idea when this could be repaired." They installed a FAULTY unit (repair person said they would have seen it during the install) and there is nobody from GAC that can assist at this time. So it's 90+ degrees and GAC said they might have someone call tomorrow. Great customer service after flooding my place and now having absolutely no air conditioning. This is my experience and your's might be different but this is how the company handles these situations. read more

Installed the light the wrong way, damaged the drywall, and refused to repair the damage. Does this light install look professionally done to you? No? Well, GAC does NOT stand behind a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. Although promised by multiple staff that someone would immediately be out to repair the damage, I was later told, the day of the scheduled repairs (after I had taken off work) that they don't do drywall repairs and it was basically my fault for having the work done on a 30 year old house. They eventually offered $150 refund after 8 phone calls to GAC. Not to mention they installed the light the wrong way and knocked over a bunch of my wife's lotions and perfume bottles and did NOT pick them back up. I have been a customer of GAC for 8 years now. Ever since we bought our house in Germantown we've used GAC. The last two times they have come out, the quality of work was exceptional but they raised their rates. This last time, they sent out two people to install outdoor lights. The work was great. The people were awesome. The charge? well it was way to high for around an hours work. So sadly even though they do good work, I will not be using GAC again. Quality is worth paying for, but when the cost way out weighs the value, then quality isn't worth paying extra. oh well... read more

We have been using this company for a long time. In the beginning everything seemed fine, prompt and courteous. But lately it has been, all about the money grab. I am not technically challenged, so when someone tells me something is leaking I want to see the leak, technician agreed to show me the leak via a "video" on his phone but when I went to see it in person there was no leak whatsoever yet tried and convince me to spend $4K on new coils. The point is another trip from GAC they requested $1100 for a fix that Germantown Heating and AC fixed this for $170. It is Unbelievable how this company continues this practice. It is nothing more than a money grab rather then focusing on customer retention. Additionally, the part I needed GAC needed to order and we needed to again schedule a time for them to come back out and they wheren't sure when that would be whereas Germantown carried the part. Finally, my unit was under warranty, GAC NEVER EVER notified me on this where Germantown got my serial number of my air handler and notified me of my 10 year extended warranty from the manufacturer. Moral of the story, shop around, Germantown has been stellar and prompt and efficient. read more

I thought GAC was a serious company, but they are not. I bought my Bryant furnace from them in 2016. Monday afternoon it failed with code 45. I called them within 30 minutes, they scheduled a repair visit for Tuesday. Tuesday morning they called me to cancel and reschedule for Wednesday. Wednesday somebody shows up to diagnose the system and decides it is the gas valve, which had to be ordered. Thursday they got one and somebody else showed up to replace it. The system did not work after replacing it, so they decided it is the controller board, but it was too late to check whether they had it. Friday 8.30 am I call them, they don't know if they have it, they will call me. Friday 4 pm I call them to find out what is going on. They have the board but they cannot send anybody until Monday. I asked to talk to a supervisor, and I was told the only person who could talk to me was gone, and they softened saying that maybe somebody will show up on Saturday. In summary: 1) They leave me hanging dry for a week during the worst cold spell of the winter. 2) Every time they send somebody, someone has to be at the house. Do they think I don't work? 3) The price mentioned by the technician was over $700 for something that is still in parts warranty. What does warranty mean? We'll see what they charge in the end. I have a service agreement with GAC. If you don't have one, I highly recommend it. They just did my heat maintenance on my furnace. Luis was great!! From his call ahead, asking if his truck was ok in my driveway to his detailed explanation of a couple minor issues on my furnace. He showed me pictures and explained the reading on the ignitor and flame sensor. I will see them again in the spring for my AC. Great to deal with pros!! read more

A few weeks ago I requested service on my HVAC because my AC was sending out warm air. GAC was one of the first to respond to my request and provided one of the best rates. My technician was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable and very kind as he explained what was wrong how much the new part would be. He even found that the part is still under warranty by calling back to the office to double check! Not many people would do that! It saved me money but he got nothing out of it. I selected GAC because they are a recommended Bryant dealer. I replaced my 32 year old Bryant heat pump and furnace. I met with the representative, he told me I needed a new system, I made the appointment and they work was done the day after. The lead technician explained the air filtration system, went over the paperwork and the high tech thermostat. The men wore masks and foot covers while they worked. I'm sure you could get a cheaper system but I don't plan on ever buying another one so I went with a Bryant system. read more

Every step of the way from general help (Stephanie and Jessica - two thumbs up), estimator (Steven who asked pertinent questions the other companies that performed estimates didn't) and especially the installers (Iggy, Jonathan and their crew) were very polite, respectful of my time and generally an all-around class act. The GAC technician was solid and I appreciate him. What I didn't appreciate was waiting all afternoon for the service. A 5 hour window is a bit crazy, but I was incredibly frustrated and angry that I waited the 5 hours, then another hour just out of courtesy due to the bad weather and just when I gave up and finally left to walk my dog (in the dark and rain by this point), the technician calls to say he'll be 35 minutes or so. It's rude that the GAC office couldn't call me anytime between noon and 5:00 to give me a better time estimate or even by 5:00 to say that the technician was running an hour late but that I was still on the schedule. Absolute silence is offensive when they have my phone number and email and communicate with me about the appointment in days prior. Why couldn't someone have taken 2 minutes to call or email to update me. GAC replied that their office was supposed to be updating me throughout the day. It didn't happen. Instead, I was inconvenienced, to their benefit. After many years of paying their annual service contract, I'll be taking my business elsewhere read more

Our AC wasn't blowing cold air. After calling GAC they sent a technician for $150 diagnosis to arrive between on a Saturday between 12-5. Tech called after 5 and arrived at 5:30. After diagnosing a leak tech told me only options were leak detection for ~$300 followed by $4-6k repair or replace entire unit for ~$8k. So I asked why we can't recharge Freon, and he admits he could, and says he'd send me quote for all options and leaves. Then, crickets. On Wednesday, after i prompter GAC, they sent me quote, but only for leak detection. I asked for full quote and never heard back. That same afternoon another company came, recharged Freon and put in a leak sealer (which GAC never offered) and now AC is blowing cold (and yes, I know repair would be more permanent fix but GAC didn't give me all the options til I pushed). I bought a house in late June, and gave a month to get my house in order before moving in. I contacted GAC in early July to schedule a quote for a heavy up, outlet replacements, install a gas line for my gas stove, and a water line to my fridge. The Electrician came out on July 16 and the Plumber came out the following day. We locked in dates for the work to happen (July 24). ~$9,000 worth of work 7/23: Receive a call in the afternoon stating that I needed to call the gas company and turn off the gas. If I was unable to get them out with less than 24 hour notice, the work performed would be limited or not performed. (Luckily and even to the Plumber's surprise, I had the gas off first thing in the morning. 7/24: Electric and Plumbing work was performed. Plumbing needed to come back the next day for some final work. 7/25: Plumbing finished work. I contacted GAC to request the inspections (per the Plumber's request - he did state it would be handled once they receive all the paperwork, but this could expedite things.). "The only one who can schedule inspections" was available to assist with scheduling and was told would be available the next day. 7/26: Called back to schedule inspections, and was scheduled for 7/30 7/28: Did our big move into the new house! 7/30: Both inspections FAIL! Concerning the electric, according to the inspector, was surprised anyone at GAC would perform such work. Contacted GAC and scheduled a senior tech to come out the next day and fix it. Concerning the plumbing, the person at GAC submitted the wrong form and the inspector needed the long form, instead. 7/31: Electric rework was performed. Contacted GAC to reschedule inspections. "The only person who can schedule inspections is unavailable and will return your call." 8/1: @4:00pm (per cell phone log) I call GAC since no one returned my call. Was informed that gas was to remain off until inspections are complete. *Please note that per the Plumber, the gas cannot be turned on until we passed inspection. No gas meant that I did not have any hot water (cold showers), could not cook, and since they did something with the washer and dryer could not even wash clothes (and I just moved). I insisted I get an inspection on the books for next day. "The only one who can schedule it is out of the office and will return tomorrow." I then insisted to speak to someone in a Senior Leadership position. I was never given to anyone. The Customer Service rep was texting with someone and to try and solve it without doing what I wanted. I became so angry that I hung up the call. The Plumber called back 30 minutes later and then, and only then stated to just call the gas company and have them turn it back on. Attempted to call gas company but was closed for the day. 8/2: Call gas company to get gas turned back on and had a schedule date of 8/5 (11 days after work was performed!) Called back to GAC to schedule my inspections. Again, the only person who can schedule them is unavailable. 8/5: Gas is finally turned back on. Finally reach someone to schedule my gas inspection (don't know why they couldn't schedule my electric, as well) for 8/8. 8/8: No one shows up for inspection. (I then am able to take a 3-week vacation and NEVER heard a peep from GAC) 9/3: Call GAC since I still have not received any contact about both my inspections and demand someone in senior leadership. After a long, drawn out debate about being able to speak to someone, I was put in contact with Jen, a Sales Manger, and explain this whole timeline. I told her I did not want to blast them through reviews, but needed to get this resolved immediately. She was sympathetic, and was able to schedule my inspections for 9/6. 9/6: Electric passes but Plumbing failed again FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON! I call and speak to Jen and she told me she would be reaching out for clarification and calling me back later that day. 9/12: Still waiting on that call and final electric work to be scheduled...it has now been 50 days since they started. read more

I'm entitling this review "Our 7-and-a-half-day saga in the midst of a horrific Arctic blast here in central Maryland". We "inherited" GAC Services as the HVAC vendor of the house when we purchased it in September 2020. And we figured they must know our systems since the house is still less than 10 years old. On Tuesday overnight, the heating unit for our main floor and lower floor stopped working. We called GAC at 9 am on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. They sent someone out to look at it that afternoon and charged us $114 for the "service" call. Unfortunately, they didn't have the "inducer" part which they said was needed, had to order it and told us it would take "a couple of days". Estimated charge $1,300. We called on Friday afternoon for an update. Magically, the part had come in that morning, but no one called us to tell us that the part was in or contacted us to get "scheduled". We had to call them for that update during which they committed to coming out on Saturday afternoon to install it. We called around noon on Saturday to get a time range estimate. They said they couldn't give us one. We called back around 2:30 pm to ask for an update and they said we were "next on the list", but again, they couldn't give us a time range. Keep in mind that it is 27 degrees outside on Saturday afternoon, which was the high temperature for the day. Finally, at 4:30 pm on Saturday, the technician shows up. He says the issue was "misdiagnosed". Now he thinks it is the control circuit board and...of course...wait for it...he doesn't have one in the vehicle. When he got ready to leave I asked questions about next steps. He looked at me angrily and said, "why are you staring at me?" I told him that I thought he might understand we weren't happy, and we were trying to get answers when he wasn't giving us any information other than "Call the office on Monday". Notice the "quotes" around service in the first paragraph. That was because of the incompetence during the diagnosis originally that caused us to endure four days (at that point) without heat. So, on top of an inaccurate diagnosis, poor follow-up after the part arrives, we get a technician with "an attitude". And still no heat. Monday update. We called at 8 am when the office opened. Service manager was apologetic, but "the parts person" wasn't in the office. Several more calls later by us to them, we were "assured" the part was on order and would be in on Tuesday, the following day. Technician arrives Tuesday at around 11:30 am and installs the control circuit board which doesn't fix the problem. He reinstalls our original control circuit board and runs some more tests... and determines it's a bad gas valve that's not opening when it should. Technician said this could have been figured out earlier if other technicians had run all the tests they should have run. So, ANOTHER new part to order and they will be back on Wednesday to install it. Finally, we had to be one of the last appointments on Wednesday, as they show up at 4:30 pm. They replace the bad valve. We have HEAT! The charge for the original work was to be around $1300 (plus the $114 paid for the first misdiagnosis). We told them we'd be calling the office when they wanted to charge over $1900 for the bad valve to be replaced. In the final analysis, we got them to reduce the bill to $1172. Still way too high. If I could give MINUS stars, I would! read more

GAC installed an EV charging port which is great no complaints about the workmanship BUT their billing dept is not responding to my emails and phone calls They completed the job in April but they have not processed the financing portion which is bad for their business ( I imagine!) after more than 2 months of not getting paid!! All because they have not completed their paperwork with the finance company. GAC Services is giving bad advice and trying to sell you on new products. I had trouble and I told them I think my condenser fan motor was failing. They replaced the capacitor with a 5x markup on the part. One week later, with temps hitting the low 90s, the fan completely failed. The service tech said fans were hard to get at this time and even indicated it may be quicker to get a new system. They ordered a fan and when I followed up - pure silence on when a fan would come. Temps hitting near 95, I searched online and ordered a fan which arrived in two days. As an engineer, it was easy to replace (I don't recommend most do this, you need to discharge the capacitor to prevent shock), took 1 hour to replace and cost me $300 for the fan. My guess is that they were waiting for me to break down and buy a new system. Run from GAC Services. They will try to scam you. read more

I contracted with the GAC salesman, Matthew Adcock, to install a Bryant 5T heat pump and 5T air handler with a wifi capable Thermostat/Controller. What was installed was a 4T heat pump with a 4T air handler and the wrong Thermostat/Controller. I have no complaints about the work done by the technicians. However, GAC has not offered to correct this problem. They merely sent me a discounted invoice via a non returnable email address. I am not pleased with the outcome. When it's very hot outside there is still as much as a 5 degree differential between the thermostat and the upstairs bedrooms. I attribute this to a 25% lower CFM than expected combined with a 25% lower cooling capacity than expected. read more

They totally rip you off. They charged us $1200 to change a doorbell transformer (that we bought) and replace 2 light fixtures...one of which was a small pendant light. They were supposed to change 3 of them but one didn't get changed because after they took the old one down, they realized the new one was missing a part. They still charged us for it though of course...even though a good electrician would take responsibility for not checking the new fixture before agreeing to use it and taking down the original fixture. I'm not an electrician...how in the world was I supposed to know??? We also asked if they would change 3 light bulbs we couldn't reach (our family room has really tall ceilings.) He said it would cost $800 dollars. We said no way...forget it. Never using them again and will let everyone in my neighborhood know, including the people who recommended them to us, how awful our experience was. read more

We requested replacement of two outdoor faucets, and an inspection. They found we had a leaking toilet fill valve and water line. Our in house shut off valves were old and not up to code. And our washing machine water connections and drain box was degrading. Every thing was replaced including replumbing an outside faucet due to an unexpected surprise. I brought an AC unit from GAC and it has proven to be the WORST investment of my life. The unit was poorly installed, and I needed a tech to come out 3 times because the cool air was not functioning well. Shortly thereafter, I was informed that there was a leak in my ac unit, and that I needed to add refrigerant coolant to the unit, which turned out to be an astronomical expense. The unit is still under warranty and I have another appointment tomorrow with them. Surprise the ac is not blowing cool air once again. My stomach is already in knots about hearing that I may need to add more refrigerant coolant. I am hoping since this ac unit is still under warranty that GAC replace this defective device, to ensure customer satisification. I will update this review after the tech visit tomorrow. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Contracted with this company for a new dual zone HVAC system. Everything went well until the morning after the install when I discovered that the basement floor around the HVAC system was covered in water. We called the company to report the issue, they told us to turn it off and that they'd send someone out to inspect it, which they did two days later. Turns out the condensation pan has a large crack in it and needs to be replaced. Parts would need to be ordered. No time estimate was provided. Over the next week, we heard nothing and our calls were not being returned. Here we are eleven days later, and still have no idea when the issue will be resolved. I'm starting to wonder whether we have been scammed and I intend to file a claim with the Home Improvement Commission today. We paid this company $25,000 for a dual zone HVAC system and they gave us a lemon product that we can't even use, and then don't have the decency to address the issue. I would highly recommend steering clear of this company. Poor quality products and awful customer service. read more

Was a GAC service contract member. Called during the summer when our air conditioner stopped working. Paid the fee for the service call (which I was told could not be applied to any services performed). Technician diagnosed the problem as a failed capacitor and relay and quoted me $862 to replace them. After he left I looked up the part numbers, ordered genuine Carrier replacements for $12, and replaced them myself in 15 minutes. Absolute robbery. read more

Dec 9 GAC Installed two heat pumps at my house for the price of $27,000. Dec 10 at 11:15am I phoned GAC (Betty answered) to report the main unit was not working and asked for help. Dec 10 at 3:25 pm I called GAC (Shannon answered) to repeat the complain and added that my 88 years old husband suffers from pulmonary fibrosis and that a cold temperature is not good for his condition. Dec 10 at 5:02 I left a message at Chris Murray's cell (the seller from GAC) repeating the above mentioned. Dec11 at 3:20 Lisa from GAC called to inquire about the problem that I repeated in detail. GAC came to replaced a new AC system at our home today. Few years back, they replaced a system for us because we have 2 level systems, so this was the 2nd sets. We are very happy with their performance. At GAC, from the girls who picked up the phone to the sale gentleman Fritz, money man Lyle, most of all my husband and I wanted to acknowledge GAC's installer crew - Kameron, Christian and Sean, they were very polite, highly professional, and extremely hard working young men, worth mentioning is that, when they arrived, they prepared and covered the floors and staircases nicely, they wore masks, and they worked methodically and very organized.
