It used to be where Drexel's football team did summer training. The park is free and open to all, but they also take reservations through the township office for the sheltered picnic area that apparently holds 200ppl. There are two of the old football playing fields in the park, still in use, but set up for soccer when I visited. The website says there are two ponds, though I only saw one obvious one with a nice long bridge across it, and a gazebo nearby. Again, the website says there is an open air amphitheater, though I was unable to find it. I did see the historic train "museum" area (Newtown Square Railroad Museum), which is a couple old cars at the front of the park, visible from route 3. Also very obvious near the parking lots are the bathrooms and the railroad-themed playground. Dogs are allowed on leash, and by the parking lot, there is a station with bags to pick up after them. This park has a lot going on in it, but no trails, which is what I look for in a park, to take a long walk. I appreciate it for what it is, offering the community places to rest, picnic, meander by the pond, and entertain kids at the playground and train museum. I wish they had funds to keep the train cars a little better preserved though. I give it a solid 3.5 stars (but had to round up).

It has multiple levels, platforms, tubes, benches, tables, toys, and water. The parking lot is gigantic and there are trails nearby for walks. Of course poop bags are also available on-site. As with all dog parks, but especially this one because it is so popular, you are going to encounter irresponsible owners and badly behaved dogs. I have seen owners glued to their phones, with headphones in, smoking cigarettes and completely ignoring the fact that their dog is either taking a sh!t or acting aggressively. I have seen folks arguing about whether an aggressive dog belongs in the park. And lastly, cars do get robbed. Don't leave valuables in your car! Pay attention and stay engaged, and hopefully you and your pup(s) will have a great time.

They have a smaller side for small dogs and the big dog space is hugeeee. Kinda wish the smaller side was just as interactive. There's a hose/ water fountain on both sides and plenty of balls. Either way, my 20-25lbs pups enjoyed both sides and were tired as heck after. The fellow dog owners were fairly friendly and were watching their pups. I'm sure there are a few who aren't as attentive but luckily I didn't run into those folks. This will be our dog park from here forward.

No walk can compare to running around on these off leash trails. It is a great place to take them in the summer because they can splash in the stream too. Best of all, after over a year of going to The Hollow at the least once a week, I still haven't met a dog nor person that hasn't been friendly. LOVE this place! When you get your exhausted but happy pups back home they will be comatose in their contentment.

There are still irresponsible dog owners and dogs that I don't believe have the temperament to be in a dog park. I also don't think the park itself is that great. It's just a fenced in area of mulch... no grass and only one enrichment toy (a plastic tunnel). I've also had an issue with the key fob not working, despite being told that it's active. It's OK. It's an OK park. Your experience will depend greatly on the weather (when it rains, it's a mess) and who happens to be inside when you get there. As with all dog parks, keep your wits about you.

I came here for a hike yesterday on the Yellow Trail and it was beautiful! This time of year…read moreeverything is green and the forest is full. The wildlife are out and about creating a great sound to complete the scene. The Yellow Trail is the longest in the park (about 7.5 out and back) and takes you through the woods and crosses the paved path a couple times. The trail has a few small hills in it that make the hike a little more interesting and fun. In some parts the trail is narrow and the trees are hanging over, but it is nothing unmanageable. The trails are marked throughout the park, but we did find that these markings could have been improved with more arrows when two trails intersected. The best method for making sure you stay on the right trail is to look at the color markings on the trees. However, the marked trees may be several yards down the path. Just keep walking until you see the marking and then turn around if you need to. I would definitely recommend checking out Ridley State Park for a hike, or even a picnic, as there were plenty of areas to do so. I would love to come back and see other areas of the park or even do the same hike again!

It's a nice park with lots of trails to explore and we did the 4-point-something mile white trail loop. We enjoyed it though the trails are busier than the ones we're used to. It's close to Philadelphia, which makes it attractive for hiking, but also more crowded. Is this park worth the two-plus hour drive for us? Well, yes, to get a passport stamp and explore someplace different. Would we come back? Probably not because we saw nothing remarkable and the trails were busy. But any state park with decent trails is worth four stars so four it is!

In 2006 Haverford Township sold the property to a developer with requirements that part of the land be kept for public recreation. These 5 miles of trails are the result, along with a rec center, dog park and athletic fields. On an unusually warm winter day Sheba and I went for a hike along the trails. We entered by the rec center, then followed the creek bed to the meadow & back. We passed a pollinator garden and some disc golf sites. It's a lovely hike any time of year. Trail markings are minimal, this would be the principal reason for a 4 star review. We could see the heavy autumn rains have taken a toll in a decent amount of trail erosion, leaving mazes of roots spread across the paths. As the property borders a busy highway we never quite got to the peaceful sounds of the deep woods. I highly recommend you have a photo of the trail map with you as it's not hard to get turned around. Wear good sturdy shoes, and a walking stick is not a bad idea. We swill definitely be back.

It's not worth making a trip for, but if you live in the area and pass by, it's perfect for a picnic on the grass, to jog on the path, or even let your dog run loose since there are trash cans and doggie bags provided and its pretty much enclosed. I also noticed a student came to eat his subway hoagie from across the street and he was from Villanova university... So, it's a peaceful break from the day... Not many people in the park either... Maybe one or two at a time. I'm gonna try that! And my dog really loves it here! We came for a quick visit twice in the past two days! I think it's a good park because its enclosed by a stone wall and there are interesting walkways paved around the edge plus two cute bridges, a few benches and healthy, well- maintained grass. There's also free parking alongside the park so its accessible. But it could use more trees and flowers. In the summer, there will be need for more shade. And maybe, it could use picnic tables and swings. I wouldn't even go out of my way to come here despite living less than 5 minutes away, but when I pass by and if I have time, I would definitely go back.
