Now that my vehicles are nearing the end fo their warranties, I have started using them too. They are honest to the end - even where it may cost them (like sending you to a dealer for something that may be under warranty instead of legitimately doing the work that you asked them to do). They are FRIENDLY, they're FAIR and quite honestly, I have never been to an Auto service shop here OR in new Zealand (where I'm from) that I feel more comfortable with and would trust more than these guys. And appreciate that I DO know about cars, engines, transmissions, fuel, and electrical systems. If you're not going to them, you just MAY be being ripped off! SERIOUSLY!!

There's a stigma out there that many mechanics will take advantage of customers who aren't overly…read moreknowledgeable about vehicles and what is required to fix them. Sergey and Lana and their team at Astra are the opposite of this. Genuine people with the knowledge and expertise for a quality repair. Astra was first a recommendation from my roommate after I had a bad oil leak and wasn't sure where to start with finding a quote. After reaching out to two other shops as well as Astra, they were the only ones to reply promptly and turn a quote around for me within a couple of days. They had quoted me on the oil leak but also provided a full diagnostic of other issues they saw. I appreciated that the shop also took the time to take a look at my vehicle, they specially in German-made cars, which mine is most certainly not in this category at this point. Before starting any repairs, Sergey walked me through the quote and let me know what was critical to fix now and what could wait, but that I should keep an eye on. At no point did I feel like he was trying to push anything. He was honest and straightforward. Once repairs started, if anything extra needed doing, he always called first to check in that it was ok to proceed. In the end, he fixed a pretty major leak for me. It's been two months and no further issues. Lastly, last month someone scraped my car while I was parked down on 17th Ave one Saturday night. I brought it in to Sergey who photographed it and referred me over to a nearby autobody shop. When I picked up my vehicle there, the shop owner noted: "Oh right! This was a referral from Sergey over at Astra. He's one of the most honest people I've ever dealt with." Based on my first hand experience with Astra Automotive and the plug from an industry peer, this is a solid 5 star mechanic.

Shortly after I left the car to the shop Jay called me with a good news you have left on your car about 2 years so is not a time to replace them. Honestly I was shocked by Jay's honesty and I ask him to check the brake fluid or some leaks somewhere and he replaced the fluid and charge me labour for one hour. So far so good the car is ok now and I want to thank to Jay and Andreea for their nice job.
