I grew up in Zamboanga City where the price of seafood is dirt cheap. Now that I live in Manila, I still crave for shrimps, crabs, and even curacha or red kona crabs. However, it's impossible for me to indulge on seafood regularly because everything in the big city is expensive, most especially my favorite crustaceans.
One place I usually visit to satisfy my cravings for seafood is the Dampa along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard. I have my suki crab vendor who gives me the best price, plus free additional crab claws from time to time.
I have tried most of the palutuan establishments in the area and the price for their services do not vary that much. What it all comes down to in a palutuan is cooking skills. G Squared is my favorite place to have my freshly bought ingredients cooked into my favorite dishes. This restaurant really knows how to cook garlic butter crabs and shrimp tempura.
G Squared Palutuan is open everyday from 9:00am to 11:00pm. They also have a function room that can accommodate up to 50 persons. The room is free of charge for two hours if you book it for a party of 40 or more people. read more
