I would give 10 stars if I could. Sam and his crew were exceptional from beginning to end. After a neighbor told us how fabulous he thought G.S. Custom Painting was, I asked for an estimate. Sam promptly provided an estimate and thoroughly discussed all elements of painting the entire interior of our house. He and his crew were always prompt, polite, and careful with my belongings. Sam checked in with me several times each day to ensure all work was to my satisfaction and to answer any questions he had. His crew went above and beyond to replace every blind, curtain rod, and piece of furniture just as it was when they began. Sam is a perfectionist and so darn nice, too! He has a great design eye even gave me great suggestions on accent walls and exposed beams. read more

The team at GS Custom Painting did an exceptional job painting my home. They painted both the interior and exterior. The finished product is absolutely beautiful and I am extremely pleased. Every time I drive up to my house now, I smile looking at how beautiful it is! The pricing for their work is quite reasonable and I would say that their pricing might be a little low. I was prepared to pay a lot more. The key to any paint job is the prep work, and this team went above and beyond my expectations. They power washed, scraped, patched, and repaired a lot before the actual paint went on. They even helped me with color selection and their recommendations were "spot on." Also, I want to note that the entire team was absolutely respectful of my property and just did such a great job all the way through the entire process, including thorough cleanup. I highly recommend GS Custom Painting. They will definitely get the job next time I have any painting needs. read more

Excellent quality and attention to detail. Clean, respectful crew and great communication throughout the job. Highly recommend!

Sam and his team did great job painting our house. We are very pleased with the results. He has painted other friend's houses recently and they were all very pleased. We were very impressed with the attention to detail. His crew is very talented. Sam takes pride in his work and it shows. They spend time up front on the prep: power washing, fixing rot or termite damage, etc. Our last paint job was done (by a different painting service) less than 5 years ago and should have been redone after only 2 years due to the last painter using inferior paint. Sam knew this and made sure we didn't have a similar experience. He uses only high-quality paint. He also primes as needed. Sam's prices are very reasonable. He also added painting our garage door and light fixtures after the fact for no additional charge. They also painted our front door, which was a lot of work, for an extremely reasonable price. I was going to do that myself and I'm sure it wouldn't have come out as nice. You don't run into many business people these days that try to please like Sam and his crew do. If you are getting painting bids and you don't call Sam, you are making a mistake. read more

I can't believe Sam hasn't received 5 star reviews from everyone. I will just reiterate what everyone else is saying... reliable, informative, communicative, reasonable, honest, detailed, the list could go on and on. Painted the exterior of our house, then hired him to do the interior. I highly recommend Sam and his team! read more

Sam is the best! He provides superior Quality and Customer service! I highly recommend GS Custom Painting!

I have used Sam and his team for years now. He did a bang up job on our interior condo 12 years ago and we used him again for the exterior of our house that's twice as big. Job took roughly two weeks, but was really stress free and well done. He kept us informed of any issues and his team did an excellent job on the prep part of it. He is flexible and couldn't have had a better experience. read more

Sam and his crew did an excellent job painting the exterior of my house. Original house is 60+ years old with added 2nd unit over garage and other additions. Has lots of wooden railings and outside stairs with 3 decks. They power washed, repaired stucco and wood as needed, and prepared all surfaces for painting. The job was completed in 7 days. The cost was extremely reasonable for the amount and quality of work. They performed way beyond my expectations. I highly recommend GS Custom Painting. read more

Sam and team did an excellent job on my mom's home making a much needed update transform the home. So much attention was paid to detail things they took care of that weren't necessarily part of the contract little fixes here and there were all addressed in addition to making sure all of the landscaping wasn't affected through the process. Thank you, Sam. I will definitely recommend you to my friends and have you back to do my house next. read more

I highly recommend G.S. Custom Painting. Years ago, I asked two friends whom they would recommend for home painting, and they both said Sam Kim. So, I asked Sam to paint the interior of my garage. In 2019, the garage door. In 2022, my home interior. Every time it's been low stress and great results. What makes G.S. Custom Painting 5-star? Sam takes the time to carefully estimate, and he answers question promptly. His team of painters is punctual, polite, detail oriented, hard-working, and they don't make a mess. Bottom line: When it's time for your home to be painted, I hope you're fortunate to have G.S. Custom Painting do the job. read more

My mother recommended GS Custom Painting based on the good reviews and I wasn't disappointed. I had a general idea of the color scheme and Sam was very helpful in offering options and suggesting what color to use where. My house exterior paint job was completed in the time specified in the estimate and looks great. All my neighbors have given me good comments on the results. I would highly recommend GS Custom painting. read more

We have been using Sam for ten years now. He painted the exterior of our home which is still holding up. We called him back to do our interior. He uses quality paint and easy to deal with. He will not nickel and dime you. He knows which type of paint to use for walls vs trims vs bath, ceiling. Some painters may quote lower but will use cheap quality paint or will use the same type for over your home. If you want a stress free experience, and work that will last, Sam's your guy. read more

Sam and his crew are exceptional. Sam's quote was clear and very competitive. His communication was consistent and he provided expert advice in paint selection and type. We are very happy with the results and he painted the interior of our home in Encinitas. Thanks Sam! read more

Sam and his team provided quality of service. They power washed and prepped the exterior for days ensuring that every little detail was ready for paint. The finished product is beautiful and I'm confident that it will last a long time based on the quality of prep and paint. I highly recommend them and have already shared Sam's number with neighbors and colleagues. People drive by and point at our house. I'm sure that they are doing that because it is so gorgeous! read more

The painting is finally finished in my new place. Wow. That;'s all I can say for Sam and his crew. Not only is Sam patient, helpful, polite, efficient and professional, the work done by his crew is absolutely top notch. It's hard to see what the colors really are but I posted a few photos. One of the difficulties (aside from me not being able to decide what colors I wanted) was the rounded corners on all the walls. No sharp angles that make it easy to paint. The finished work is beautiful, truly Architectural-Digest-perfect. I can recommend Sam wholeheartedly. read more

A good friend recommended Sam to me for interior painting. I had been wanting to get this done for over 5 years but was so stressed out about the potential disruption in our daily lives (and we have a territorial dog), that I waited and waited. I wish I would have hired Sam 5 years ago! He was amazing every step of the way. His communication is top notch- there was never any chance of a miscommunication because Sam was so clear and prepared about what part of the house would be covered each day. He even helped me select the perfect white trim color to go with the creamier white I had chosen for the walls, and directed me on the best sheen paint for which rooms and walls (I had no idea). Honestly his team were so quiet and respectful that I hardly knew they were here. They worked room by room so diligently. My dog wasn't even bothered by them once they were in the house! His price was extremely reasonable. I have been a homeowner for 15 years and have hired people for all kinds of jobs from a new pavers driveway to new fence to bathroom and kitchen remodels, and Sam and his team rank NUMBER 1 with their excellent service, value and quality of work! I love my new paint and appreciate it everyday. read more

We had Sam and his crew out to paint in our home last month. We had worked with him before and I knew when we had other areas to paint, I wanted to make sure I tried to get G.S. Especially with health concerns right now, I felt very at ease having this group working in my home because they are so professional and conscientious. My home is definitely upgraded once again. Hands down, Sam and his team are the best in the market to work with. They were professional in every way - great quality work, super attentive to detail (both in the prep work and in painting as well as post painting), on time and on schedule, accommodating when things came up for us that would otherwise have impacted their schedule, fair (surprisingly so even) pricing, and beyond what you could hope for in customer service (they were communicative, provided daily progress updates, and threw in some extra power washing because they noticed our back patio could use it). An extra personal touch on the customer experience front was that the crew (unbeknownst to me) saw me struggle to take apart some satellite equipment I needed to return and the very next morning, I found it in the backyard already disassembled for me - clearly they go above and way beyond! Have recommended them to others and will continue to do so! They are the best! read more

I have used G.S. Custom Painting many times over the last few years, for both interior and exterior jobs. Sam and his crew are professional, dependable and trustworthy. I called Sam to get a quote for our paint job after reading his positive reviews here on Yelp. He called me back quickly and we made an appointment so that he can take a look at the place and provide us with a free estimate. He was on time and very knowledgeable about painting. Our high ceilings and stairways without baseboards were no problem at all and he mentioned that the do this all the time. We also have some Spanish looking architecture on the inside with these round open doorways and rounded corners. His crew was on time and did a great job. The work is performed very clean and everything is done perfectly. His crew was also able to fix some of the drywall that was cut out for a surround system. Overall we are very happy with the outcome and Sam stuck with his original quote. We would definitely use him again in the future and highly recommend him and his crews! read more

A family member referred me to Sam at GS Custom Painting and I'm so glad! I will be using them exclusively for future projects. Not only was his bid less than half of some of the others I got, he was extremely responsive to me within 24 hours of me reaching out. He purchased the paint we needed per our HOA guidelines and had helpful recommendations about the texture and type needed to make the outdoor paint last through wear and tear. His team painted our garage doors and some detailed iron trim on our windows. They were SO careful and thorough to wire brush and paint the iron trim on the second story, since it couldn't be removed. The small and very affordable job gave our whole house a fresh little makeover. Sam was communicating with me throughout the process and was very professional and kind. Absolutely would recommend this company to anyone I know and will be calling them next time we need anything. read more

I can not begin to say enough good things about this group and Sam. Our house was a real mess and never been painted since it was built in 1987. the amount of stucco repair and damage to wood was extensive. G.S. Custom painting was an easy choice as they had already done an excellent job for a neighbor and they came in with a fair price that was much lower than the highest we received but included everything we needed that the other comparable bid did not. Plus, and most importantly..I trusted Sam and his word. That is the most important. over the course of our project, he was always a man of his word and also polite, timely, and courteous. When it was finished I was gobsmacked! They performed miracles. The house looks amazing. The stucco repairs were seamless they were so well done and the fascia painting on the wood was so beyond our expectations. Also, despite having an interior designer help with picking out colors ( they turned out to be awful), it was Sam who helped us pick the winning colors and our neighbors continue to give compliments on how well it looks. Go with G.S. Custom Painting if you are reading this, you will not regret it. read more

Sam and team did an outstanding job painting the exterior of our home. First time it's been painted since new in 1998 and it really needed it. We wanted to stick with the original colors but the brand and color were no longer available. Sam did an excellent job of finding/mixing the right match and got started. They finished exactly as planned, never missing an opportunity to keep us updated on what would be happening the next day. Very communicative and very clean AND professional. We had scheduled a complete front yard demo (our fault) directly after Sam and team were finished painting. Sam went the extra mile and put plastic draping around the entire front and sides of the house to keep the dust from affecting the new paint job. G.S. Custom Painting was, from start to finish, the easiest contractor we've ever had the pleasure of hiring. Highly, highly recommend Sam and team. read more
