This is the people and place that watches over my well being…read more Been with them for a lot of years now. Friendly Surgery , Staff and Doctors. Appointments are usually within the week . I have always been able to see a Doctor if I have rung in early in the morning . Appointments ok sometimes there may be a 20 minutes wait after your appointment time, but thats reasonable. Balanced with the times I have got into my appointment early. The usual light music playing in the waiting room and a fish tank to sit and watch the fish swimming if you need to clam yourself. Please try and do what they ask on a missed appointments poster and if you cant get to an appointment ..... ring in and rearrange. so it isnt wasting time. and an appointment slot
This is a small surgery situated just outside the main shopping area. Most of the doctors I used to…read moreknow have now retired but the 'new wave' of GP's seem to be pleasant and competent. Their seems to be 3 or 4 regular doctors and a couple that they replace at regular intervals. Whether they are on placements or not I don't know but they all take the time to listen and you don't feel as though you are being pushed out of the door. Dr's Savage and Brown are, in my opinion, the best doctors at this practice, with also the nicest 'bedside manner'. Dr Brown has treated me for a long term issue and he always takes the time to explain in plain English exactly what is going on and I cannot recommend him highly enough! I have only marked this surgery down as in my opinion, it is sometimes let down by the attitude of the receptionists who seem, on occasion, to think that THEY are the doctors and they may snoop and ask probing questions. I would also say that a couple of them have a lack of discretion as when I went down to enquire as to the results of a test, the receptionist announced it without even attempting to lower her voice, to a packed waiting room. Appointments are good and I can 99% of the time be seen within a week. Emergency appointments are sometimes available and you can always access a telephone consultation on request. All in all an excellent practice with fabulous doctors, just try to ignore the receptionists!

I think all together there are about 4-5 doctors stationed here and i have probably seen most of them either myself or with one of my daughter in the 5 years i have been registered there. They are all very professional and happy to see you. To get an appointment at this doctors (after you have registered there) you have to call up in the morning are ask for a time to come,Unless you ask for a certain doctors they will put you with whoever is available. There is also a nurse clinic and the midwife has a clinic there on a Thursday. There is a baby clinic but am not sure when that it. There is a car park but most of the spaces are reserved for doctorsthere are however a few for patients.

First of all, parking; there is none…read more The surgery is situated on a very busy road next to Hearts Gym, on a corner. if you're luck you will get a parking space on Cooks road, around the corner. If not, you could always go to the Siansuburys car park across the road and pay 60p. Blink and you will miss the entrance as its a single door not very well marked. There is a small, shabby entrance hall and reception and the usual receptionists; fairly friendly, but definately 'gatekeepers' to the GPs. There is a practice nurse aialable several times a week and separate appointments are available to see her; she can deal with minor injuries, ongoing monitoring, and family planning. The GP's are frequently locums- None of my family who are registered with this GP have ever met him! So it can be difficult if you're a frequent user and want some continuity of care. The other main gripe I have is the appointment system; to get an appointment you have to ring on the day at 8am for an appointment the same day; if you cant get through befor 8.15am then dont bother trying, all the appointments will be gone, and no, you can't book an advance appointment for the following day, you have to ring back the following morning at 8am! If you can get through If you do manage to get through, you may be offered very little choice of what time of day your appointment is, making it very hard for people who work or have a life!
A well run, friendly practice which makes visiting the doctor a more pleasant experience…read more The Range Medical Centre is conveniently located on Withington Road, and is easy to access from Chorlton, Hulme or Whalley Range via bus. The reception and admin staff are polite and courteous, making efforts to accommodate your appointment and work around your schedule, often calling you back if a more convenient slot becomes available. They are very professional and maintain patient confidentiality, and speak about patients respectfully when talking to each other (which I have seen reception staff fail to do in so many other practices). The waiting rooms are clean and comfortable, displaying useful information and calling you to the surgery rooms via a large screen. There is even an electronic check-in desk where you can sign in for your appointment when the reception desk is very busy. All of the doctors and practice nurses I have seen have been professional and caring, and I would recommend this surgery to anyone living in the catchment area.
This has been my family doctors for over twenty years. Countless antibiotics, lotions and potions…read morehave been prescribed here curing innumerable contemporaneously dire but none to fatal conditions. I've had stitches out, needles in and knees knocked and ears probed. All the doctors have been brilliant over the years: patient, sympathetic and approachable. A recent holiday to Kenya prompted a visit to the nurse who is just lovely. She discussed the vaccinations I required and provided all that she could free at the surgery informing me of the location and procedures of the school of medicine that I was required to visit for my final few. She has a wonderful attitude treating patients as individuals and moreover like equals, even friends, chatting and discussing problems rather than lecturing in a condescending manner. My most recent visit I required a doctor's note and was charged £10 for the service which was a bit of a shock; I have never had a note before and was not aware you had to pay! While the medical staff are second to none, the reception staff are quite disagreeable. i find them rude and actually rather awkward. They are abrupt on the telephone, indifferent when you arrive and ignorant when you leave, which is rather unpleasant when you're not well! On a couple of occasions the receptionists have disclosed incorrect information to me regarding my condition; one Friday some months ago I was told that the doctor wished to see me about my liver following blood tests, as it was bank holiday weekend I had to wait until Tuesday to see the doctor, a very worrying wait, only to find out my liver and I were both perfectly healthy!

The practice at Pembroke Place is housed in an old building that used to be the Old Royal Infirmary and is now a Grade II listed building. Not much of the building is used as the surgery, so you don't really get to see much of it, but apparently there is a chapel with a window depicting Florence Nightingale when she visited in the 1800s. The surgery itself is clean and quiet and gets a fair share of characters walking through the doors as it is one of only a few city centre-based practices. Staff are polite and efficient and I've never waited longer than 20 minutes to be seen.
