I think all together there are about 4-5 doctors stationed here and i have probably seen most of them either myself or with one of my daughter in the 5 years i have been registered there.They are all very professional and happy to see you. To get an appointment at this doctors (after you have registered there) you have to call up in the morning are ask for a time to come,Unless you ask for a certain doctors they will put you with whoever is available. There is also a nurse clinic and the midwife has a clinic there on a Thursday.There is a baby clinic but am not sure when that it. There is a car park but most of the spaces are reserved for doctorsthere are however a few for patients.

Doctors are knowledgable and to the point and though there is not an inbuilt pharmacy there is one just down the road. This hospital has never changed name but quite recently has changed location quite a few times…read more Within the last month the hospital has moved to new premises just a few minutes away from there last hospital. As hospitals go its gorgeous - everything smells new and clean. Everything looks so modern and like theres a good chance it will work haha. The staff here are the staff from the other premises - all be it with new uniforms. The new building seems to have given everybody a bit of the feel good factor as it seems a happy place to be. Appointments always seem to be running to time as nobody ever seems fed up. There is a small chemist here and a big bonus to this local hospital is that it has a doctors surgery on site as well. Although newton seems a small place to have a hosptial such as it is now - it is very easy to get to as the local bus into st helens runs every ten to fifteen minutes.

This was the wrong one, and therefore I can't say much about the doctors. However, the staff that I saw were friendly, and the place was very clean and tidy. And there is also a pharmacy right next door which is very handy. I love the building as well. I think it may have been a church once. It's very ornate.

I went to the doctors today to pick up a prescription and, when I was waiting in a non-queue (i.e…read more by myself) and not getting any attention from the reception staff I was all like, "whaaat, totally going to Yelp about this when I get home" BUT then I realised that, obviously I'm at a doctors surgery and all my money is on the person the reception staff were discussing being more in need that me. So, I forgive and I move on. I've been going to this practice since starting university three years ago and it's never let me down. Yes, it's got germy seats and screaming children but, hello, it's a doctors surgery, those things are basically built in when these places open. I like the touch screen thing because it prevents you from shouting your name and date of birth at the receptionist for all to hear and, if you so wish, you can sneak in without anyone noticing. The nurses I've seen have always been friendly and accomodating if extra tests or appointments are needs; for example, I have been in to have my blood pressure taken and, upon mentioning a different ache or pain, she booked me an appointment with another nurse for 10 minutes later. Now that's what I call service. Local and, more often than not, friendly. All you need from a GP.

The Vallance Centre is purpose build for the needs of local people and it really shows. Whereas the Brunswick Health Centre felt rushed and under pressure, the Vallance site appears sleek and calm. You can sign up in a couple of days and most people won't have to give a full medical although they may take some blood and urine samples for their records. There is also a useful online booking service. The centre is modern and clean, but if you want a more family oriented practice I'd head to Surrey Lodge which has a more 'traditional feel'. Most people who live in the University/Ardwick area will find they are within the geographical zones for both. If you had a weight problem, you could burn a fair few pounds off walking to the Surgery from some of the less central halls of residence. I signed up to be a patient here in my first week of University, and have only had to visit once, and that was when I was taking care of a friend. From her account, the care taken by the staff and partners here was exemplary, and she enjoyed the experience as much as she could, considering her circumstances! From my point of view, sat in the waiting room, I thought that the venue was a fantastic choice for a Surgery. It does not feel overly 'surgical', and it definitely works in the favour of the partners, as there is not a pressured atmosphere when waiting for an appointment. You can book appointments online through their website, which is very handy when you are planning for an appointment in advance. Otherwise, the schedule can become very busy, and you may have to wait a while for an emergency appointment. The Centre also offers a wide range of different medical-related services, including Acupuncture. Hopefully, I wont have to visit the Vallance Centre much, although, if I do, at least I know where it is, and know that it is not like a small extension of God's Waiting Room. For a surgery, it is as good as it could be.
