We wanted to show the kid Caddo lake so we drove from Dallas to do a tour with Captain Ron…read more Ron is a down home friendly guy who obviously loves people, his job, and Caddo lake. During the 90 minute boat tour, he was enthusiastic and passionate about the lake. He really seemed to enjoy sharing his immense knowledge the lake, both real and legend. I learned a lot and he made the tour very interesting. The day we went it was a bit chilly and overcast. It had just rained so the lake water was muddy, and therefore we did not see much wildlife, just a busy beaver and some blue herons. You can go during the summer when the water is clearer and see turtles and dragon flies. During the summer, the climate is much hotter and humid and there is little air flow on the lake, so be prepared to sweat. Cool and overcast actually was preferable IMO. The wife and I had toured the lake about a decade ago and we left from the northern part of the lake. Our opinion is that despite the fact that Captain Ron did a great job, the northern part of the lake is more interesting than the southern part where Captain Ron is now located.

Comfortable! Michael will take you out on the lake for 1 1/2 hours, giving you the history of the lake, and telling you about the biggest bald cypress forest in the world. It really is! Glenda and I enjoyed every second of the trip. The lake and trees are absolutely beautiful. The Spanish moss is one of Mother Nature's miracles! With all the rain, the lake is 2.5 feet over normal. Saw several docks under water. Never saw an alligator, but we looked! Michael has a picture of a 14 footer! Just imagine. A 250 ft freighter starts in Jefferson, Texas, and a couple of days later is on the coast in New Orleans! Yep. This used to happen! We definitely recommend Michael 's tour. You'll enjoy it!

But what made the experience was not the boat but the guide. Ron is a certified captain in the Coast Guard and extremely knowledgeable about the lake and the area. Everything is pretty brand new and nice and laid back. Great steaks and martinis in the restaurant. The cabins (2 houses with 4 cabins each) are contemporary ranch style I guess - big back porch with view of small river where you can fish if you want. Big queen beds, TV, coffee maker, etc. The sporting clays course is challenging and also has nice river views. First rate carts, nice gun shop. The place, once you get there, feels very private - only one minor road with little traffic passes by it. There's an astounding exotic game collection - buffalo, elk, bison, zebra, and too many types of deer to mention, even bald eagles - right outside your car window. 5 star service at every turn. I'll be a regular.

We were not giving options to hop on and hop off to look at any of the attractions as advertised on the website. We had to get off at a location not near the final stopping point because we needed a pit stop. The lady told us they would not be back to pick us up or that there was not another bus coming. This is not a way to conduct a business. We were not told they put us on City tour if that's what they did. So we were expecting to be able to do sightseeing at each of the stops we wanted to get on or off at. What is the use of advertising a Hop on Hop off tour if you're not going to allow the customer to hop on and hop off where they stop and get on the next bus. We ended up paying for other transportation to get back to our car because we are two miles away where she dropped us off. This is very disappointing. We haven't had good experience with most of the bus up on and Hop off tours over the years, but this one was bad because we couldn't get a hold of anybody to talk to them about anything.

Lived in Dallas for almost two years when my family decided to visit and wanted to do this Trolley…read moretour. I learned so much on this tour that I even took notes to remember later and go back to visit some places. There are many stops on this tour and you are able to get off and wander for long ad you like and then catch a ride with the next trolley to continue the route. I forgot the name of our tour guide but she was informative, friendly, funny and patient. She would make stops to let us quickly run out and take photos then jump back in. I would recommend this for people getting to know Dallas.
