Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared some amazing stories that brought the town's haunted history to life. The Jefferson Hotel was especially eerie--upstairs had that classic heavy, chilling air you hear about in ghost tales. I had five teens and a 10-year-old with me, and they all loved it! The only downside was the Texas humidity, but even that couldn't dampen the experience. I'd absolutely come back and do it again. Highly recommend!

When contacted they said they would refund my money. This never happened. Good business practice to to stand behind the promise. If going Do Not purchase tickets in advance! Just show up and pay. You will not lose your money like I did. This was very disappointing and I am sorry they had the emergency but...if I had not been told I would receive a refund this would be a whole different matter.

During the 90 minute boat tour, he was enthusiastic and passionate about the lake. He really seemed to enjoy sharing his immense knowledge the lake, both real and legend. I learned a lot and he made the tour very interesting. The day we went it was a bit chilly and overcast. It had just rained so the lake water was muddy, and therefore we did not see much wildlife, just a busy beaver and some blue herons. You can go during the summer when the water is clearer and see turtles and dragon flies. During the summer, the climate is much hotter and humid and there is little air flow on the lake, so be prepared to sweat. Cool and overcast actually was preferable IMO. The wife and I had toured the lake about a decade ago and we left from the northern part of the lake. Our opinion is that despite the fact that Captain Ron did a great job, the northern part of the lake is more interesting than the southern part where Captain Ron is now located.

I recently used the services of Rich McFarland, owner of Caddo Lake Bayou Tours to get out on Caddo…read moreLake for some photography. He was very courteous and easy to deal with, I live in Houston and our photo club wanted to come up to Caddo to see the cypress trees. Rich was very accommodating and made booking the trip easy. We met him about a half hour before sunrise and headed out in his pontoon boat. He positioned us in several spots to catch sunrise and as the sun got higher we toured a lot of the canals that snake through the cypress groves. Once back on shore we had the day to ourselves until about 4:30 in the afternoon when we went back out to take more photos and catch the sunset. In all we did 2 sunrise tours and 1 sunset which was more than enough to get some great pictures. I was a bit worried about being on a pontoon boat as to whether it would be stable for photography but it was perfect. There were 6 of us so 3 on each side of the boat and Rich maneuvered the boat so we could all get a chance for photos. I know there are a lot of lake guides on Caddo and I'm sure the are all good but I can highly recommend Rich based on our 3 tours this fall with him.

They will open their door an hour before the tour. if you come in early you will have the opportunity to tour the railroad museum. The tour starts exactly at 9pm and will last approximately 90minutes. Before the tour starts they will offer you emf devices. It's up to you of you wanna take it not. The tour guides are history nerds, they research the facts and make sure that everything is accurate. This is a really great tour!

I found this house on Yelp's things to do search...it was slim pickins for sure. I rounded up four other coworkers to go as well. We couldn't take pics inside so I just have the exterior. It's been a few months so I don't totally recall the history but I think that the original owner was the only lawyer in town. His wife would fly to Neiman Marcus in Dallas twice a year to shop. The photos of the shoes that are on yelp from the business owner are just a small snapshot of all the shoes. There were so many that were cute by today's standards. I loved looking at the shoes. The house was made so that all rooms were an octagon, I think I recall the reasoning was because you get the most light that way. But again...I could be butchering this story. The house had many rooms and a lot of detail. The family donated it to the city as a museum and left a lot of the decor and just took stuff that was sentimental. I think a nephew still lives in town. The house and the grounds definitely needed TLC and preservation. But that costs money and I don't think they're raking in the dough. When we got to work the next day I told one of the dudes that lives in Texarkana that we went there and he knew all about it and mentioned the wife flying to Dallas for shopping lol. So...long story short...if you're in the area and looking for something to do I think this is a great choice. It's cute and informational and supports the community.

He knows where the spots are to take AMAZING photos and he can tell you the incredible and interesting history of this weird place. We got close up views of the amazing Spanish moss draped Bald Cypress groves and watched the egrets, herons and osprey along the way. We came from Dallas to the Caddo Lake area for a weekend excursion. The website was clear, and a…read moreboat tour for 2 adults and 1 dog was easy to book (done via phone). Upon arrival at the place, Mike greeted us outside. To our surprise, we got a completely private tour, which we especially appreciated in the setting of COVID. We walked back to the dock and boarded the platoon boat. Mike's boat was spacious and very comfortable with cushioned swivel chairs at the front so that we could get the best view of the scenery. Mike was patient and friendly. Because he is a local, he was able to tell us a lot of cool information about the history and the endemic wildlife in the area. He took us through the most scenic parts of the river, and we had a blast. Mike provides one of the few dog-friendly boat tours that I could find in the area, and I am so glad we chose him. It was a lot of fun and I would highly recommend it to anyone!
