Dr. Annu Kaul's time with me demonstrated that she cared not only about my eyesight but about me in general . I especially enjoyed speaking with her about her volunteer trips to provide exams and glasses to those in the Philippines. She is fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi and has practiced in several different countries. She takes the time to ensure that her patients will have the best eyesight possible, even when it means repeatedly showing me options "A' and "B" until I can determine which is clearer. I only wish my insurance coverage allowed me to visit more often!

First of all, Bailey, who helped us find our frames and adjusted glasses (and basically did everything but the eye exam) was a fantastic, amazing salesperson and I wish she was my friend she's so fun. She was so helpful in finding proper frames for my face and was honest without looking to upsell me on more expensive frames. The eye exam was super thorough, which I appreciate (even though my eyes were tired by the end!) and I feel good about my eye health going forward. It turns out, my previous glasses had a prescription that was too strong!!! And I have needed reading glasses! Thank god for Vision by Design. They have a loyal customer for life!

I read one review about a person that had a bad visit and waited a long time and didn't see their doctor. I'm not sure what happened for them but in all of the years coming here I haven't had any experiences like that at all. Most times my appointments are on schedule and very efficient and quick. I am very satisfied with the Doctors and have no complaints at all with them. The place is bright and clean and they keep it that way and update the decor with the times. The desk staff have been here for many years as well so I think that is a good sign that this is a good business to work for. They also have a nice eye glass centre attached to their office. There is a parking lot out front and street parking around the corner if it fills up (which I have never experienced). I also suspect getting here by transit is easy as they are close to bus stops right in front on 82 Ave. I would recommend this place to anyone that asks me!

I went into Total Eyes because I needed an eye exam for a prospective employment situation. At…read morefirst glance, Total Eyes seems like just a retail store that sells designer eyewear but in the back there's a waiting room with eye-gouging machines, a comfy couch, and magazines. There's an optometrist's office there too. The gentleman that did my pre-exam (or whatever it's called) was professional and courteous. I do wish that he had told me sooner that he wasn't getting a proper reading from my pressure test. You know - the one where they shoot 1000 psi into your eye and your head goes back as if you're being punched in the face? After the fifth or sixth time he told me to stop blinking. I didn't realize I was doing it and he really should have let me know after the first blast. I recently had laser eye surgery and the optometrist at Total Eyes immediately wanted to know, for some reason, what my prescription was back in the day when I wore glasses. Offhand I didn't know but I could have brought that info in with me if they had asked for it when I made the appointment. I told them that I had recently undergone the surgery when I booked this exam. So all in all, they did two tests for me: the full exam and a Night Vision test. The charges were $90 and $50 respectively. They were $140 richer for doing these two tests but that didn't stop them from charging me an additional $15 for filling out the form for my prospective employer. $15 for signing his name and checking a few boxes. They couldn't fill out the form as a courtesy after all the money I had spent there? Another small gripe I had was that the staff don't sanitize the machines and equipment immediately after their use. After the Night Vision test, the doc just took all of the gear he had me wear and threw it right back into the bag. Same with the machinery - they didn't wipe it with a disinfectant after my tests were done. I'm not saying they don't clean their stuff - they might just have a policy of not doing it in front of the customers so as not to make them feel like lepers. Not a bad visit though. Three stars.
