This is not normal for me but I chose to have beer with my food instead of water because it was cheaper. But it is Germany so when in Rome, I guess. The food was excellent and service was helpful. It was lively but not crowded so I was seated immediately. I recognized a lot of familiar dishes on the menu. If you're looking for a Chinese restaurant for lunch in Dusseldorf, I can recommend DongWu.

I ordered the Food Nr. 7 for take away. 13,90 Euro. At home I tried to eat it. They were pieces of chicken, sauce, rice and vegetables. The rice was ok, the sauce was ok too. But I had to spit out almost all the vegetables again. It tasted like rotten meat. The chicken pieces were tasteless and sinewy. That was my first and last time there!

The only dish that was OK was Japchae which had a bunch of msg in it. The beef stew with glass noodle was also ok. But the rest.... The pancake missed cruchiness, too sour and salty. The kimchi soup was oversoured and inedible. The Yuk hoe missed flavor. The Korean fried chicken tasted like Chinese gu Lao rou and missed crunchiness and juiciness. The cold noodles was just spicy and vinegary sour.

An authentic Korean BBQ place located about 15 minutes drive from the Cologne Cathedral. The set…read moremenu consists of: three layered pork belly; sirloin; marinated beef; duck; shrimp; and squid. Bulgogi Haus offered four types of sauces when two is the norm, for varying combinations of flavors. The meats are grilled in front of you on charcoal, and the servers take care to replace the charcoal at least once so that you are not eating burnt pieces of meat. I really liked the concept of having the side dishes buffet-style. It's really a mood-killer when you run out of lettuce or salad in the middle of eating your meats then waiting for your server to refill your salads. The offerings included fried calamari, Korean-sushi, sticky and sweet potatoes, fish cakes, and kimchi. Bulgogi-Haus does not seem to use MSG, even in their yummy kimchi, and I was simply content after the meal without having to reach for extra glasses of water. Kudos for having a coat rack separate from the dining tables so that the coats don't smell like meat after, and kudos for the plum wine/aloe drinks on the house!
