    I. Love. This. School. We enrolled my 4 year old there in April. It's a few blocks away from…read morehome so it's convenient and we wanted her to be involved in some form of Dance. We enrolled her just in time for her to be a part of their summer production of The Wiz. The school is packed with beautiful faces from every walk of life and ages from 3 to 60... dancing and loving dance. All under the tutelage of Karisma Jay who we affectionately call "Ms. Karisma" (even the parents). She is the reincarnation of Angela Simms but only here in real life. She's tough but loving and nurturing... she instills a sense of discipline in even the smallest little ones and they love dance as a beautiful by product. The summer "dance concert" was this past Sunday at the time of this review and I am floored by how professional, bold, confident, improvisational and unafraid these young dancers were. We all expected some version of stage fright from someone... ANYONE??? NOT. ONE. STUDENT. They knew that if they stumbled or forgot or messed up.... the show must go on and to rely on their dance family. My daughter practiced endlessly - every night before we went to sleep she'd practice a little piece of the performance and tell me the names of the movements and everything. I am so ABUNDANTLY grateful for the presence of this school in my daughter's life. She has a little dance family in AbunDance that I pray she'll grow with and foster amazing friendships within. WORTH. EVERY. PENNY. (ok... enough with the staccato sentences.... I love this place. if you're near by and you love dance for yourself or your kids - GO HERE. I mean it.)

This dance school is like a high performance center for dance and musical theater. It strikes the…read morenecessary balance between focus and fun and provides a familial environment for students to explore their artistic strengths and weaknesses. There is also a purposeful focus on character-building and reflection that helps guide students toward a growth mindset. And if that isn't enough, the end-of-year performances are epic.

The quality of instruction varied depending on the teacher--some were average, while others were excellent. It was really a matter of who you got. One instructor, unfortunately, had a habit of cutting my lesson time short if she was running late due to previous students. On one occasion, she even tried to delay giving me a receipt after I paid in cash, claiming she was short on time. I insisted on getting it immediately, which she reluctantly did. I suspect she felt she could get away with this behavior because I came in solo, without a partner. Thankfully, she no longer works there, so that shouldn't be a concern for future students. My next instructor, however, was fantastic. He often gave me extra time and his teaching was clear and effective. I really felt I got my money's worth with him. Overall, I'd say the studio is a great choice for salsa lessons. Bachata can be hit or miss, depending on which instructors are on staff. Lately, it's also been a bit more difficult to book private lessons. That said, I came in with two left feet and left with the confidence to dance the basics. If you find a good instructor, take full advantage and book as many lessons as you can--they might not be there forever.
