Luckily when we got here it all made sense why we couldn't figure out what the menu was. When we went there was a burger stand, seafood stand, pizza stand, a cocktail bar, paletas, and donuts/coffee. When we walked in, only the burger, pizza, and bar staff handed us menus and explained. We ended up both going with the burger stand because they had tacos for me and my boyfriend chose the Mexa Burger. My tacos and guacamole were super good and had great presentation. My boyfriend was enjoying the Mexa burger until he started suffering from the heat of the jalapeños in it. Only complaint was that my boyfriend wished the burger was cooked more. The ambiance is so cool in there. The ceiling was lined with cute umbrellas and the seating was casual picnic tables. I loved the idea of the stands, I just I had a bigger appetite and wanted to drink that night so I could try it all. Our waiter was nice and the service was quick. If you order from different stands, you have to pay separately which is a little less streamlined, but like I said before it's a cool concept. Would definitely go again for drinks and try the seafood stand!

A server will take your entire order and bring it to you, but probably not all at once. Each place is working at its own pace depending what you order. Picnic table seating so you may end up sharing the bench with other people. They probably only have 12 tables so it can get tight. Street parking.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights here and thought it was a pretty decent spot. I liked that there…read morewas security at the front, they required key card access to enter the venue, and had 2 restaurants within a close proximity to choose from--seafood and one that had a bit of everything including breakfast to dinner. There was also a room service option too. We were greeted promptly and a bellman assisted with our luggage. We were quite a bit early (at least 3 hours before regular check in time). We almost put our luggage in storage, but they were able to accommodate us with a very early check in and complementary water to go with our room (Diamond Elite status). The rooms are extremely dated but are pretty comfortable--ours had a queen bed, desk and chair, lights, tv, drawers, attached bathroom and shower, ironing board, safe, and spots to hang our clothing. We also had an ice bucket and coffee machine with glassware. Unfortunately, no mini fridge. The only issue I had was with the semi-working ac since it wasn't the strongest and also seemed to work only half the time. If we would've opted for maid/cleaning service each day they would've replaced our waters (we found out from the front desk). We were on the top floor (6th), but noticed there was a lower level outdoor section we could access as an almost wrap around balcony. There was also a laundry area (complementary), basic gym--treadmill, stationary bike, free weights, elliptical--(open 24hrs) and a business office area. The breakfast was open from 6am-10am. They had coffee, tea, water, juice available. Along with a waffle station, cereal, fruit, oatmeal, a bread/pastry section, and some hot food items--rotating items daily (Mexican and US_Western type food like chilaquiles, bacon, sausage, eggs, etc). The food was ok, but they definitely were on top of it when it came to replenishing any empty items. The lobby area was nice, spacious, and homey with couches and a huge stained glass window on the top. The building has tons of historical value and was nice since we were located in the city center/downtown. It was fairly easy to catch a cab or uber from here and it was within walking distance of a ton of stuff. Great spot and pretty secure. Definitely worth a return visit!

The bathroom was tiny like cruise ship tiny. The room was clean but I just wouldn't choose this again. It was in the center of a neighborhood with lots of art graphics everywhere which was cool. And again the staff was extremely professional. Just aesthetically wasn't my cup of tea.

Highly recommended to come check out for an escape from the buzz from CDMX historical center!!…read moreDefinitely consider hanging out here if you are waiting for your table at the world renowned Azul (refer to my Azul review) Ambiance: Damn, the place was absolutely empty when we walked in. But it did not feel dead, right away we were at ease. The rooftop bar is classy yet relaxing and you could easily see the skies and the chaos on the ground floor. There were only 2 other couples there and we felt like we robbed this city if some square footage of privacy and tranquility. You forget you were just dashing to catch a light and almost got ran over by a motorcycle just 10min ago. Drinks: The drinks were approximately $10 USD for pretty high end crafted cocktails with pretty sophisticated garnishes. Having picked up making cocktails as my COVID hobby, I can truly appreciate the amount of work put in with such low prices. Service: Though they did not speak much English, we were able to communicate easily with the English menu. Our servers rotated and were very attentive and helped us with the Wi-Fi. Absolutely stellar experience!!!

So, this time around, I'm just going to list them: - The staff are wonderful: Attentive, courteous, and patient with your rotten Spanish. - The rooms are dark like tombs--for pete's sake put some real lights in there. - The rooftop bar has great drinks, good food, and a host of entitled guests who think nothing of monopolizing spaces at the pool while they disappear for two hours for lunch. - Breakfast is a treat--the buffet is delicious, but watch out for the brewed coffee. It's dreck. (Kudos to the server who made us Americanos one morning even though we didn't ask.) - You can't beat the location. Palacio de Belle Artes and the Zocolo are equidistant. There you have it.

So on a recent trip to Mexico City-I was told before I left and even by the employees at our hotel…read moreand just about every Uber driver we had that their were certain things a 1st time visitor to Mexico City had to do-it was normal things like visit the Capital-visit the Basilica-they said you had the visit the museum of anthropology and of course had to visit Chapultepec Park-but one thing a few of them said that I wasn't sure how to take seriously was I had to go see Luche Libre, preferably on a Friday night while in Mexico City.We arrived on a Thursday so in order to make Luche Libre the next night,it was going to take some quick planning. After some research I found out the biggest and most popular Luche Libre event is held at Arena Mexico which was conveniently located less than a 1/2 a mile from my hotel-for sure walking distance in the pleasant Roma Norte neighborhood we were staying in. So I found out they held Luche Libre 3x a week at this arena-on Sundays-Tuesdays and Fridays....Sundays and Tuesdays are the cheapest nights to go and are more focused on family oriented nights and most likely a bit less popular wrestlers.Friday nights event is the biggest of the week, most expensive, most popular and they usually have the higher quality matches of the week. A great example is really good seats on a Friday nights-say within 10 rows of the ring will cost you 1000 pesos($55.00) where as on a Sunday or a Tuesday night that same seat will cost you 1/3 of the cost so like 350 pesos($20.00).Being the bargain hunter that I am,that was a hard sell for me but the wifey wanted to go on the most popular night so we ended up going on a Friday night. Once we arrived at the arena-it was chaos but in that great way-there was so much going on-so many bars and restaurants in the area were jumping and had lots of people and lots of live music-their were vendors setup everywhere with many of them selling Luche Libre merchandise including the masks, which I almost bought but decided to skip this time. Their are a ton of scalpers on the streets trying to sell tickets but being that this was my 1st time and having no idea what a ticket is even supposed to look like,I decided to just go thru traditional means and buy a ticket at the ticket booth they have setup at the Arena. Tickets for this particular event ranged from 1000 pesos($55.00) for tickets near ringside to as cheap as 200 pesos($12.00) which are seats at the top of the arena, which in retrospect I think would've been fine but there is something about experiencing an event like this pretty close to ringside if given the opportunity-so we did that. It's hard to explain unless you experience it just how popular Luche Libre is in Mexico City without experiencing it firsthand-it's such a wild event-people get so into it,the crowd is so enthusiastic with lots of chants and moans and groans depending on what's happening in the matches-it's pretty wild. Beers are pretty cheap-I was able to have a Mexico City style michelada, which is unique in that it doesn't feature tomato juice like a regular michelada and it only cost 160 pesos($9.00) and it features 2 tall cans poured into your glass,I felt like it was a pretty good value. The arena itself I wouldnt say is modern but I would say it's comfortable-the chairs are a bit antiquated and maybe a bit too close to the person next to you but it kinda makes the events feel like your experiencing something special together like a community if that makes sense-personal space is not a thing in Mexico City I learned on this trip. There are plenty of bathrooms at the venue but they do that thing where they try to sell you tissue paper before you go in,especially for the ladies but it's not needed, the wifey says that night there was plenty already in the bathrooms available for free. Getting out of the event wasn't as hectic as I expected because people leave early as I've learned that Luche Libre is mostly just a starting point of the evening for patrons in Mexico City, especially tourists, usually the 1st stop before hitting up the local bar scene or restaurants in the area. In closing if you ever find yourself visiting Mexico City,I would 100% recommend attending one of these Luche Libre events as it's such a fun and unique event and one I won't forget about anytime soon. PS-the mask thing is real-I'd say 10% of the fans in there were wearing Luche Libre masks in the crowd while the fights were going on-it was hilarious. PSS-one last fun fact-the snack vendors sell some really good snacks and very inexpensive but the one that caught me off guard was how many people were eating doctored up versions of Maruchan Cup of Noodles in the crowd-they add hot sauce and chili powder and lime and they looked pretty good--something you rarely see at sporting events in America.

The number of dancers, performers and musicians was impressive, and the show was about 1 hour and 45 minutes without an intermission. But let me tell you something, this is one tourist trap that you MUST go to. This may or may not be one of my favorite things that we did in CDMX. I bought the tickets on Ticketmaster 2 weeks beforehand and we were able to sit in the first row on the third level for only $15. Here are some of my favorite parts of the act: - I love that there is not only an emphasis on dancers but also on Mexican music and song as well. - I loved the variety of dances that were performed. Each one was so different from the rest and reading about it later on, I learned that the original founder of the group placed an emphasis on displaying different regional Mexican dances. - The mariachi band was probably one of the best I have ever seen. Each musician was incredibly talented in not only their own instrument but also in their voices as well. The harpist especially played each notes so clearly and it was beautiful to listen to. - I love how coordinated the dancers were and the way that the utilize the stage was something that I really appreciate. They were able to do some many cool formations and move through the stage so gracefully. - I appreciate that there is no intermission and they go from start to finish as I think it could've lost a bit of stamina if there was a holding period. - The way that the engaged the audience was so fun as they even went to the audience and did a bit of social dance at the end. - I didn't know that Mexican culture also included this taiko like drumming instrument which I highly appreciated. I highly recommend coming as it is also performed in Palacio de Los Bellas Artes which is one of the must visit places in CDMX anyways. Next time I come I will definitely be spending more money to sit closer to the stage.
