I recently purchased a condo in downtown, and I soon realized that I have very few items like furniture, kitchenware, or anything to make the place nice. I wanted to get a couple of nice things so I began to search for stores that carried furniture and other types of cool things like perhaps even artwork. I found this store online and the actually have a couple of locations. This one was the closest to me. The first things that I saw was the dining set that was handmade from Patambanán Michoacán. The set of four plates of three sizes, bowls, and cups came to be around $8,000. They looked absolutely beautiful. The service here wasn't the best considering the high-end items that they sell. The lady at the register barely even acknowledge d my existence. She was preoccupied with some sales slips and seemed to have trouble getting up out of her chair, to help out another customer. However the one gentleman wasnice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this store for their great products, bit less like to recommend for their service. read more

This outlet on the Paseo de la Reforma exhibits the finest craftspeople in Mexico. Some of the objects can be very expensive. All of them are unique and beautiful. The sales staff is bilingual, and they take credit cards. They can explain what it is you're looking at, so you know what you are purchasing. If you decide whether or not to do so. They don't mind window shopper's. You can find many of the things they carry at the various markets and tanguis scattered around Mexico City for less money. But, none are as stunning as they are here. Why do people shop at Tiffany's? I think for the same reasons. read more

Racist treatment- guard followed me around the store A friend of mine who resides in Mexico recommended Fonart as a good place to buy beautiful crafts as gifts for my family and friends in Kenya. Since the store was a few minutes walk from my hotel on Paseo de la Reforma, I thought that's perfect. Indeed the store has amazing stuff. However, from the very minute I got in, the security guard followed me around the store. He even at times stomped his feet so that I know he was watching and following. I was the only African woman in the store and it was clear he didn't bother with the rest of the customers but followed me instead. I did complain to the gentleman at the check out counter but in the common response to such things (in which there is racism but no racists) he told me that the security guard was not following me because I was black. He of course didn't say why the guard did not follow the non-black customers. I left the store without buying anything. Well, today morning I'll go somewhere else to shop for crafts! I bet there are better behaved people in other craft stores! read more

This is a great place to go to get quality artisan goods at reasonable prices. The quality of the markets is lacking, of course, but it is an excellent place to go to see quality craftsmanship and see what a good price is before going to the market. A benefit to shopping here is that this government supported store ensures artisans receive fair wages and exposure for their work. read more

I didn't find the staff at this location to be as helpful as the staff at the location at the palacio Nacional, who are wonderful. In the future, I'll try to avoid this location when shopping for souvenirs. read more
