We were in the area looking for some more upscale and hip dining for a large group. Ran across this…read moreplace and was very pleasantly surprised. Very nice decor and efficient service. They have English language menus that make sense and are easy to understand. Unfortunately we were all heathens and no one spoke Spanish, but one of the servers could understand us. All the service staff were very attentive and accommodating. The food was excellent, well presented, and tasty. They were gluten-free friendly, in that they understood what that means. I had the enchiladas and I loved them. Cost was higher than other nearby restaurants, but with the exchange rate, the place was very affordable. Try the tequila!

I had actually had La Gringa sandwich before at a different establishment, and unknowling it had pastor as well. It was great with the pineapples, so I ordered the same thing again here. My boyfriend got three regular tacos de bistec which was a much safer bet in his view. Neither one of us have that much experience with Mexican food, so we try to stick with the food items that we know. The atmosphere here was on the higher end even though the prices were exceptionally reasonable. The restaurant is located super close to the embassy, and the Server who helped us was great and he spoke English.

The American Legion Post #2 in Mexico, established in 1920, has been located since the early 1960s in an ornate early 20th-century building at 25 Celaya, Condesa. After World War I, over 70,000 combat veterans moved to Mexico City to start a new life and escape the pains of war. Seventeen of these veterans decided to form the American Legion in Mexico City, as shown in the enclosed photo. Eventually, they settled on a building which used to be a brothel. Visit the second floor and terrace to see the rooms frequented by the Johns. It is not clear what connection these veterans had to the brothel, which was nicknamed "Lover's Roost."

We had the steak tacos prior to a tequila tasting at the top level. We also tried their smoky margaritas, which were delightfully refreshing.
