Yummy yummy yummy, these smoothies are so good!…read more I like smoothies because they're tasty and I feel like I'm being healthy when I have one! I like making my own at home and I often pretend to myself that start making some to take to work with me...I know I never will. But that's when places like this come in handy! Smoothies is in the Arndale markets, right on the edge, you can't miss it and you really shouldn't, it's a good place for you to re-fuel after (or during) a hard days shopping! My personal favourite has to be the Strawberry Peach one, so fruity! They have a stupid amount of different ones to choose from though and they'll make anything you suggest, every smoothie is blended from fresh fruit right in front of your eyes. They also do energy booster 'hits' but I've always been too scared to try them. Maybe one day!

I'd eat a bowlful of fresh pineapple as enthusiastically as I'd munch some Skittles in the cinema. And I'd slurp a smoothie with as much gusto as a chocolate milkshake. Well, I've found my smoothie temple. 98% fat free frozen yoghurt and fruit. That's all that goes into these bad boys, served up by smiley and friendly people who are more than happy to help you out with your five a day. And goodness me, do they taste like an indulgent treat. My medium sized Pineapple Blush, a simple blend of raspberry and pineapple, felt like a dessert, and at less than £3 it was a bargain too! In the Arndale Food Market as well. Where else? Now I know exactly where to get my frozen fruit fix while I'm shopping in the sales. There are tons of flavour combinations including the Cobana, which blends together pineapple, coconut milk and banana. And it's stumbling distance from my house. What could be better to wean you off your summer cocktails into a full on detox? Guilt-free deliciousness. What more could you ask...

The staff are extremely friendly, I've seen the same young guy on shift every time I've been in and he makes you feel welcome every time, although I bit sorry for him having to be at work, early doors on the weekends. They have a good staple selection of traditional breakfasts, no fancy bagels or Benedict's of any sort to be found, which is not a bad thing when they use quality local sourced ingredients. As Raam pointed out in his review they use meat from Axons of Didsbury which is only a few doors further down the road. The coffee is very good and warrants a second cup with your breakfast and they've even served my friend an ultra big size each time he's asked even though it's technically not on the menu to provide him with his caffeine fix. Although I'm not a tea drinker I have it on good authority the tea selection top notch and they provide you with all the sundries which appear necessary, a separate milk pot and extra hot water provided with your loose leaf tea. There are newspapers provided and free wi-fi for those more technological media addicts. They promote local artists work on the walls as well which is a nice touch and most of the work is for sale if anythnig takes your fancy. It's something I've seen more and more in independent cafes and it's a practice of which I thoroughly approve. The only criticism which is more about the location. The tables are on the small side and wouldn't really accommodate a large group of people, this however adds to cosy cafe feel, as long as you a friendly enough with those you are eating with. It can however be a bit of a squeeze past if people are ordering or paying at the counter as you are trying to enter or leave. All in all a solid independent cafe just of the Didsbury high street, with great staff and a pleasant community feel.

Having had the opportunity to revisit Cafelito on a considerably less manic day, I think it's…read moreappropriate that I update my review. Whilst my car was in the garage for a service, I took the opportunity to have a wander around Stockport as I tend to overlook the town centre in favour of heading into Manchester. Sometimes I think this is a little wrong of me, as Stockport centre has much more to it than just the hideous Merseyway shopping centre. Cafelito is definitely one of those gems. Whilst there are the usual suspects nearby in the form of the big 3 chains, Cafelito is a little independent (I think!) coffee shop on St Petersgate. With a friendly greeting from the barista as I walked in, I quickly made my decision to order a cappuccino then took my time deliberating over whether I also wanted cake. It was a tough call, but I resisted the cake. (I'm not sure how, they looked delicious.) The shop wasn't very busy, and there was only one barista, but she took my order and said she'd bring it over once it was ready. That's right - table service! I'd barely taken my coat off and sat down when another member of staff appeared with my coffee. The menu here doesn't suggest that there are different sizes of coffee available, and I'm not sure if this has always been the case or it's a recent change as I've previously ordered a "large" to go... probably just me. In any case, the coffee was a decent size - I'd say about on par with a medium from a chain. The cappuccino itself was delicious. A good strong hit from the coffee, especially as all of the drinks are double-espresso as standard, with a nice amount of milk and foam. I'd recommend it to anyone who perhaps finds that their cappuccino orders from elsewhere (*cough* chains *cough*) come out more like a latte than they should. At £2.40, I was certainly not complaining. Inside there is plenty of seating for around 25-30 people, and there's outdoor seating as well but you'd have to be pretty brave to use that at the moment in this weather. They also have free Wi-Fi so if you were looking for somewhere to work or doss about on the web, they've got you covered. Definitely my go to coffee place in Stockport from now on, and one I think I should make more of an effort to go to - along with Stockport in general, really.

I got lost looking for the restaurant after my phone died but finally found my friend at the top of the steps leading down to Earth. Service is set up like a cafeteria, and for just £7 you can pick 4 items from the line (up to 2 "mains".) I think everything in the line and dessert counter is vegan - I was struggling to find dairy/egg items in the menu. I feel like it's more palatable for them to sell themselves as a vegetarian rather than vegan restaurant. I picked up a hearty bean chili atop quinoa, braised cabbage, and a beautiful mushroom pie, in addition to a lime/lemongrass bottled drink and coffee/walnut cake. Portion sizes were huge and you feel very healthy eating the food - the bean chili could have used more seasoning, but the savory mushroom pie was divine! Creamy, savory, and textural, I was surprised at how well they veganized this classic. The cabbage was like tame sauerkraut, which cut the richness of the pie well. The cake was mildly sweet but had a wonderful bitter aftertaste, the scent of ground coffee lingering in my palate long after I finished the last bite. I had a taste of my friend's raw blueberry cheesecake and we had quite a bit of fun trying to guess what they made it out of. It was alright - I would've wanted to try the raw tiramisu, if they had it.

The staff are friendly, the mood is laid back and the food is hearty and well portioned. Soups, salads, baguettes and fresh smoothies and juices are what you should expect. Sansou's latest venture is the 'Meal Deal', following in the steps of boots and the supermarket chains. For £4 you'll get a baguette with your choice of filling, a packet of crisps and a soft drink. Not at all bad, and proving popular with the locals, who take their lunch and sit in the window to watch the world go by. One thing I will say though, is that the opening times are limited to 4pm weekdays, 1pm Saturday and not open at all Sunday, so don't come here for Sunday brunch!

As I was on a meagre wage I only made use of it on a couple of occasions, like when my bread was mouldy or when I woke up too late to even dress myself properly, let alone make a sandwich. I remember having a roasted veg and humous sandwich which was quite tasty and set me back about £2.50. I always took my sarnies back to work with me, but there are a few seats in there too. I was never quite sure why my colleagues gave the place such rave reviews. Probably because it was the closest shop and the different fillings on offer provided stimulating conversation and provoked discussion that everybody could join in with whilst the most mundane of admin tasks were carried out. If you're nearby and fancy a sandwich, baguette, wrap, panini or any other variation on the trusted sarnie that you can think of, then I'd recommend Sansou.
