Doctors Urgent Care

Doctors Urgent Care

Self Pay I first…read morechose Doctors Urgent Care because of its consistent five-star reviews. Each visit has been efficient, with wait times usually around 20 to 30 minutes or less. In today's horrific healthcare environment, prompt service and being treated with respect is scarce, which makes experiences and businesses like this stand out. I have now seen several of the rotating Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, and every one of them has been warm, friendly, professional, and easy to talk to. I don't know how many they have on staff but they seem to have enough to serve everybody who comes in and very promptly as well. Overall bedside manner is warm, friendly, and genuinely interested in helping you. I never feel rushed through an appointment. My most recent visit involved what I believed was an ear infection, but it turned out to be more of an ear pH imbalance and irritation issue rather than anything severe. It is the kind of condition that can often be treated with simple over-the-counter remedies, yet it still helps to have a qualified medical provider evaluate it properly and point you in the right direction. Obviously, urgent care does not replace having a primary care physician. However, if you have no health insurance, very often you do not have a primary care physician either. That is the reality for millions of people who are unemployed, between jobs, self-employed, or simply not earning enough to absorb the monthly cost of a health plan. In the age of AI and economic disruption, more people are slipping through the cracks of healthcare than many care to admit. I do not currently make enough money to comfortably carry a monthly insurance plan, and I am not old enough for the next chapter of life, which is the Medicare age. Until then, clinics like Doctors Urgent Care provide an important bridge with reasonable self-pay pricing and accessible care. In a healthcare system wrought with obsessively high insurance costs and pharmaceutical companies earning billions each year while many Americans struggle to afford the basic necessities of life... this business is genuinely helping to fill an important gap for many people, which is why those five-star reviews continue.

After losing my health insurance, I eventually found Walden. This was a blessing because it…read moreafforded me basic health care for an affordable price. TBH, this might be the best primary care I've ever actually experienced, including times when I did have health insurance. They charge me a monthly membership fee. I have been able to get care for various things, like when I had Covid, or when I needed lab work, & also dealing with GAD. Staff is amazing. Staff at the front desk is always friendly. It's a friendly and pleasant place to go. I've never waited longer than ten minutes in the waiting room. They are located downtown, just a couple minutes from the square. I really like SHELBY ALLEN, their Nurse Pract. I've seen her multiple times, she makes me feel really comfortable and she is wicked smart. I strongly recommend Walden to anyone in Ocala. And if you generally hate going to a doctors office, or find it stressful, Walden will probably change that for you.

It's a happy, clean and comforting office. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they answer the phone immediately! NP Shelby is very knowledgeable, caring and is assisting us in finding all the resources that we greatly need. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone in the area.

Family Care Specialists - Dr. Nelson

Dr. Nelson is an awful doctor. Then again, maybe it's only because I have experience with other…read moredoctors outside of Ocala. First time I went to see him, it was for a general check-up and to address some pains I had in my lower back. After overlooking me for about 5 minutes, he informed me that he thought I had Lupus. Now, for the uninformed, Lupus is as follows: "Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs). "Chronic" means that the signs and symptoms tend to last longer than six weeks and often for many years." He asked me, multiple times, if I knew what lupus was. I did. In fact, I know a lot about lupus, because my best friend has it and (at the time of seeing Dr. Nelson) was in the hospital because of it. I was pretty scared, because he said lupus about 5 times during out 1st consultation. He wanted me to change my diet: no meat, no dairy, no eggs, which begged me to ask the question: what am I supposed to eat? Regardless, I adhered to the diet for weeks, going back in every week and giving copious amount of vials of my blood. After 2 months, and not 1 call from him to let me know the results of all of my extensive lab-work, I called. And called. And called. And called. For weeks, I wasn't able to get him on the phone. Hell, to THIS DAY, I have never been able to get him on the phone. The number for the office immediately goes into a queue, encouraging you to leave a voicemail. I'll give you a hint: don't do it, unless you want to be ignored. I would speak with receptionist after receptionist, each telling me that he'd call me back with the results. Eventually, I became frustrated and just had the one I got on the phone to read my chart: she couldn't read his hand writing. However, she somehow managed to make out that I, in fact, did NOT have lupus. Thanks, doc. Needless to say, after that, I really didn't care for the guy. But, he gave me a prescription for anti-depressants and gout, as I sometimes have flare-ups. Cut to a year later, I am out of my gout medicine and, for the uninformed, here is an explanation of what it is/does: "Gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis that develops in some people who have high levels of uric acid in the blood. The acid can form needle-like crystals in a joint and cause sudden, severe episodes of pain, tenderness, redness, warmth and swelling." Essentially, your joint swells to the point where any contact feels as though it's broken. So, I called my "doctor" seeking for him to refill my prescription. A few days pass and it is now the worst I have ever experienced; my foot was so bloated, that you could see veins throbbing up my leg past my shin. Very painful. I called 3-4 times a day for 2 days, missing work. Eventually, I went to urgent care, and within a half hour, I had a prescription for my meds as well as for pain (which I didn't even ask for). 1 week later, CVS calls me to tell me my prescription has been filed. And now, a few months later, my anti-depressants have all but run out. He will not refill them without seeing me. That's fine, I call and leave a voicemail, stating I will set up an appointment, but refusing me my anti-depressants goes against the Hippocratic oath; that I will absolutely see him as soon as they can get me in, but I am afraid my pills will run out before then. That was last week. Not 1 call from his office. "Doctor" Nelson is not only comes off as apathetic about his patients, but incompetent as well. I strongly urge ANYONE considering seeing him to seek help elsewhere.

I wasted so much money at a more commercial place and got nowhere. The minute my nurse practitioner walked in and heard me out I was floored. It has been a long time for me to feel like a normal person at a healthcare facility. I have a lot of issues and she took the time to listen to me and come up with a weight loss plan that would work best for me. I am losing weight & feeling so much better. To me this is life changing. The pricing is reasonable and obviously for the weight loss program you are not dealing with insurance so it can see pricey, but compared to other places it is not only worth every penny but successful. I felt like I was not just a number and each time I go in the staff is always wonderful. I recommend this clinic to everyone that is struggling with weight loss and needs guidance and help. 10/10 for me! I cannot sing praises enough about this facility, staff, and clinic as a whole. Side note the new office on 8th street is gorgeous.
