My wife hired these guys to come and clean our ducts. So today they come out and are two nice guys, very nice and professional. As far as I can tell they did a good job (not really able to tell if they didn't though). The reason I am giving them two stars is because they did what I hate. First, they tried to up sell me $450 worth of "disinfectant for the ducts that I really needed". I quickly said no thank you. At which point they immediately dropped the price in half. So essentially here is how I see this. We called you and asked you how much to come clean our ducts. You said $220. Then you get here and you inform me that to "really get them clean" it's gonna be an extra $450. This is deception and it's wrong. But then when I say no, you immediately drop the price by $225. So what that tells me is that your business is not based on offering a good product at a fair price. You are just trying to take as much of my money as you possibly can. Again, the guys that came to the house were nice and professional. It's clear that they were just pushing the products their management makes them push in the fashion they are instructed to do it. This however leads me to believe there is an entire culture of ripping off their customers. Consider yourself warned if you hire them to come clean your ducts. FYI: No I did not get even the 1/2 price "disinfectant". Update: 12/29/13: After being contacted by AAA WIcks owner and being accused of this being a fake review I provided proof that this was in fact his company. During my initial phone call to schedule service, I talked at length about the service I wanted, and I made it very clear that I wanted a "Roto-Brush" air duct cleaning cleaning. I had just purchased the home and wanted to get a great baseline for all of the maintenance and cleaning of it. The previous owner had a dog with a thick coat.. I wanted all of the nooks and crannies of the vents physically touched and cleaned. I was quoted prices for both "Air-Whip" and "Roto-Brush" services, both were average prices for the respective service, and we scheduled an appointment for "Roto-Brush". The guys showed up early for the appointment, which was nice. While they were performing the service, I realized they were using the "air-whip" method, not the "roto-brush". Also, as we had painted most of the house, many of the returns and vent covers were already off. They did not remove the ones that were still installed, and just kind of blew into the vents with their air. Near the end of the service, they took my air filter and pointed at stuff they blew out of the ducts, and identified some of it as "mold" based on the color of the dirt. It wasn't mold.. it was soot, and I declined their expensive up-sell attempt to rectify my "mold" situation. I kept watching, waiting for the roto-brush to make it's appearance. It never did. When they proclaimed they were finished and presented me the bill for the service, the price was that of the quoted Roto-Brush service. I asked about why they used the air-whip and they were adamant (borderline defensive) that they never do roto-brush, and that the air-whip was just as good. I personally disagree that no-contact cleaning is just as good as a cleaning where surfaces are contacted with something other than fast-moving air. Looking at the statement, I saw that the billing code for the cleaning was "RB1"... I said, "hmmm.. I wonder what that RB stands for... probably roto brush?" to which he said, "yeah, probably". I ended up having to call the office. I talked to the same guy who had scheduled me a few days earlier and recapped our previous conversation. Once I had him on the same page, I informed him what happened, and he seemed at a loss. I ended up putting the service tech on the phone with him (my personal cell phone), and the service tech took it into the other room. I could still hear both of them, and an argument took place between them. After the call, the service tech amended the price to the "air-whip" price, which was quite a bit less than what they had just tried to charge me. I paid, they left. As they were leaving, the techs were audibly grumbling between themselves about how they made less money. I felt they could have at least waited till they were out of ear shot before complaining that they were not successful in separating me from more of my money they they deserved to. My opinion, based on what I saw and heard during the visit, is that they had been doing this racket for a while, doing less service than the office sold, and convincing unsuspecting customers that they got the service they paid for. In this case, I knew the difference and had the gumption to stand up for myself and make sure I paid for what I got. With air duct cleaning, and any time you pay someone to perform ANY service for you, please make sure you educate yourself as to what to expect and how to identify what they are doing. Had I not known better, I would have gotten ripped off. Even if the billing/work issue had not happened, I'd still rate the quality of their duct cleaning a 2/5, based on the quality of work performed alone. Duct cleaning companies are plentiful,.. do your research, as your friends and neighbors, and choose one that will take care of you and make a long-term customer out of you, not a company that seems to just want to shake you down and move onto the next job. these guys are amazing! We had them come to ours and two of our kids homes for duct cleaning. They were spot on on appointment times over two separate days. The gentlemen that arrived were professional and courteous. One of the homes was a new purchase of a very poorly kept smoker's home. It had never had a duct cleaning. by the time they left the smell was gone.I could go on about how well the job was done.Suffice it to say that if you need a duct cleaning or inspection, these are your guys. I called AAA Wicks after I had just purchased a new house and my water heater was not producing hot water and my furnace stopped producing heat. I have a small child at home so being without heat when it's getting into the 20's at night is a big deal. They were quick to get a tech out so they get points for that. However that is pretty much were the good service ended. For my furnace he told me I had two options - that the upper limit had been reached and he could clean it and that might work or I could install a new furnace. The cost to clean it was $497 dollars - now it being 3pm and my house temp being 60 degrees - that is what I went with. For this $497 service it took him approx. 25 minutes and he didn't put a new filter in. I feel like I was ripped off. For the Water Heater he told me the heating elements had gone out and per their Master Plumber it would be between $800 - $900 to fix it (to get him out there, the parts and the labor), or I could install a new water heater for $1,100. This seemed crazy to me, so I called another plumber to come over who quoted me a price of $240 to replace the heating elements but then also noted that my water heater was 4 years old and was still under warranty (Dave who came out told me it was 10 years old). He them took the time to call my water heater into the water heater brand's warranty repair person who said it was under warranty and it would be fixed for $120 for labor to get them out there. Bottom line if you know EXACTLY what you need done I am sure based on Jim's review this company does excellent work, however if your a homeowner looking for an accurate diagnosis of your issue and fair pricing to fix it - I would look elsewhere. read more

Life Savers at a reasonable price! AAA Wicks was on our furnace when we purchased our home. We called them when we noticed how dirty our furnace filters had been. They got us in their schedule quickly and cleaned our ducts. The disinfectant cleaning was the best decision we made. We have nothing but fresh air throughout the house now and know its our home when we walk through the door. We had an emergency situation yesterday on the first 90 deg day of the year. Our AC Stopped and after hours we called in a panic when the house was at 83 and climbing. We had someone there after normal business hours in 15 minutes to service our system! The prices are incredibly reasonable and the work is honest. I am pleased with their service and for the recommendations they make to make your system better. They found a issue with our Fresh Air intake which was plumbed directly into our furnace causing Cold Air in the Winter and Hot Humid air in the Summer to run directly into our system rather than when the house is at a lower pressure than outside. I'm thrilled with the service I received from AAA Wicks. They answered my many (probably dumb) questions patiently, didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need, were on time, professional, and very knowledgeable. While examining my furnace they replaced the air filter, changed a couple of settings I didn't even know I had, left me with a clear understanding of what I needed to do to get the most out of my system as it is, and a reasonable quote for upgrading in the future.
