Have a water softener that was not working, still under warranty. Had Aquarius come out and it needed parts, a new head and the resin in the holding tanks was bad. Parts were free but labor was $1732. Well, it is now going on 3 weeks since they were out here, and the softner stopped working! Can not even manually regenerate it! I called to get someone out here and they can't come out for 3 weeks! I am getting no where with them to get out here sooner. Our water is well water and is very bad water. It stinks, tastes like well water, and stains everything. Besides that, they were out here just 3 weeks ago to "fix" the softner. If it wasnt still under warranty, I certainly would not be using them. And even under this warranty, I have to pay labor costs. read more

I have had issues with this company every time I work with them. I have a service contract, set up an appointment and tech does not come in the promised time frame. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! Had my iron filtration system serviced. Everyone was courteous and on-time, and communications were excellent. The cost however was WAY out of line. A whole new system was quoted at $2200, but the service for a piston, seals, and cleaning/sanitizing, with maybe 90 total minutes of labor, was $1725. I do not begrudge anyone a fair profit, but that was outrageous. I looked up the parts online and had trouble even reaching $100, so someone made a ton of money on this job. 3 words that sum up Aquarius/Kinetico: FRAUD, OVERPRICED, INCOMPETENT. The sales person was extremely convincing regarding their "amazing" water softener and reverse osmosis systems. However, it has been nothing but a frustrating disappointment with lackluster follow-up by Aquarius. We had reached out and complained MULTIPLE times about continued hard water in the shower, and upon recently replacing our hot water heater, it was discovered that Aquarius never connected our hot water and we have been showering for years with hard water! The kicker is that they refused to test the water or further investigate aside from staring at the water softener and saying, "All the water is the same." The systems and filters are all proprietary, meaning they can and will charge you OUTRAGEOUS amounts for replacement filters ($450+/3 filters). If you want to get ripped off, have incompetent technicians install proprietary systems with ridiculously expensive filters, then this is your place! Otherwise, go elsewhere!!! read more

I needed faucets installed in my bathroom, and the drain for the new sink connected correctly. Less than an hour of time to finish. Work was good; workmen were professional and friendly. They are the only reason for 1 star, otherwise it would be 0. The cost! $1200. $457 just to install the faucets, which I supplied. They charged $95 for each of the two water supply lines. Yes, check the prices at Menard's or Home Depot - you won't see $95 (i.e. $190 for two lines). By the way, had I not already purchased faucets for $130, they would have charged $2000 for the job. Yes, that means $800 for the faucets. The cost was extraordinarily high and I will never call their number again. If I were you, do not call. read more

These people are scammers!!! Don't use Aquarius, or Freedom (same company, but they have two numbers for some reason...?) Our air conditioner went on the fritz on June 3, during the hot weather. Aquarius was quick to come out (June 5). They quoted us $1300 for a repair or $3500 for a new one. Minimum $80 service charge. We were a little suspicious, and luckily waited for a second opinion. Standard Heating and Air came out three days later and said it was a cut/chewed wire. Service guy Mike stripped the wires and used a wire-nut to reconnect them. Fixed in 30 minutes for $170. We had the maintenance program for our water filtration system. We'll everytime they come out they mess around with other mechanicals and then they "need replacement" I have been told that the last few times. Well this last time the ghetto tech sabotaged my water softner that was older, but worked great. He said it was really bad and needed to be repaired or replaced. Well we said no and he put it back together jacked up, left the floor and walls soaking wet. My utility room was flooded. I called them back immediately and they were going to send the same guy and I said NO! He freaked me out. Not being judgy, but... just seemed a little sus. So a different tech came out and told us he had put it back together wrong, thus the leaking and flooding. So now my options were to repair the softner for almost $3k, and one year warranty or put a new one in for $5500 for 10 years. Good grief. We did not ask them to touch our water softner. We have had nothing but problems, techs out several times, they have no clue, now to have iron water and staining everything. It's completely pathetic. They scare you and tell you everything is on the brink, to sell you new crap. We were boozled into a Well tank too, that also leaked and needed a return visit. It's rather frustrating to not have confidence in this service. I now have been told to get the iron out of my water I need to buy a new water heater. Of course they said this. I had no issues and nothing was broken. They were suppose to just replace my water filters and leave salt. Now I have nothing but headaches and my water is Terrible. My utility room is flooded again as we speak, and the tech was just here yesterday, only because the company made me ride another ride on their circus carousel. Ugh. Stay away from this company. They are not good like they use to be. They sabotage stuff and are never honest. I needed my outdoor water valve shut off looked at, cause it leaked and aquarius said it would cost $400 to fix it. I got another opinion to look at this nightmare they created and he took his wrench and tightened it for me and didn't charge me 1 cent. That's how pathetic this company is. They are crooks! Review is regarding HVAC service. Responded to $49 Furnace Tune-Up special. What it actually was, in the words of tech was "an introduction to their services". Boy, was it ever. I was given a glimpse in to how this company does business, at least on the HVAC side of things. What I saw was not good (go to Angie's List for similar accounts to mine. This unfortunately was not a unique experience.) Several red flags went off immediately & in hindsight I should have stopped the "service" right then, but perhaps my failure to do so will save someone else spending funds they don't have on repairs they don't need. Warning, this'll be a long read. If you don't want the long read, just trust me-that "good deal" is just to get them in the door to tell you your furnace or AC is completely unsafe and needs immediate, & VERY expensive repairs. I know they do financing for their Kinetico systems. I have a sneaky suspicion they'd be more than happy to finance their overpriced & unnecessary HVAC repairs too. Super convenient! I have had multiple companies do these furnace tune-ups over the years, most recently a couple of years ago. All have provided check lists to show what they did & walked me through them, left service stickers on the furnace, & gone through the same service routine. Not Thomas of Aquarius. The only documentation I received were the photos of the inside of my hopelessly damaged & unsafe furnace & an invoice for the visit. Red flag 1: Right away I was asked what I did for a living. It didn't feel conversational, that question & everything that followed felt more like the tech was sizing up a mark for the con. He spent lots of time explaining how he wants to provide a 5 star service experience & welcomes me watching him work on the furnace, "even during COVID, it's ok for me to be hovering over his shoulder" (might want to emphasize those safety protocols you trumpet, Aquarius, since your tech felt very free to move about my house uninvited and touch pretty much anything which made me super uncomfortable), & if at any time I felt the "service experience" falling off, to let him know b/c that "5 star experience" was so important. Red flag 2: From the first I felt his "5 star rating" was more important to him than ensuring my furnace was working properly. Red flag 3: He told me he was going to take my furnace apart to "figure out what tools he'd need". Odd, since he was just there to do a standard furnace tune up. Immediately he started talking about how other companies never check the heat exchanger & he often finds issues with them separating & that causes exhaust leakage. (I did find on all the previous checklists from the other companies, every one of them had checked said heat exchanger & found it A-okay). So right away before even checking it he had determined the "problem". Red flag 4: He told me he'd check AC too. Didn't ask for this, it wasn't included in the service I'd ordered, & it's MN in winter. It's buried & inaccessible under several feet of snow. What could he possibly check? I've had preventative maintenance done on it before, but no one has offered to do it IN THE WINTER. Red flag 5: He pulled it apart, but didn't start the cleaning the other companies had done. Did an inspection w/ his camera, took some photos, which he evidently sent to his coworkers at Aquarius, then came to me after he'd confirmed the "bad news". He had indeed found what was likely to be thousands of dollars of faulty parts that left alone would kill my family with deadly exhaust fumes. He was more than happy to show me the photos when I questioned him on it, & explained that he was so concerned he had his colleagues confirm the damage. He put the live camera in to the furnace, however "unfortunately" the bright light merely bounced off the very shiny metal making it impossible to see anything. Red flag 6: When I kept pressing on what would happen if I did not immediately have him repair the "problem" he had identified, he said he did not have a crystal ball. He said he was not "red tagging" the furnace as Aquarius is not "ambulance chasers". He complied with my request to finish the furnace tune-up I'd requested & paid for (Aquarius did not charge me for this as they wanted that all-important 5 star experience). After he completed the work, he flipped off the furnace switch, told me to have a nice day, and left. This simply does not jive - if you've just found what could be a potentially lethal problem, you simply do not pack up your things, tell someone "thanks", and leave. I fully understand respecting the customer's opinion, but if he was truly ruled by the ethical standard he said he was, he would have urged me to seek another opinion & not left me to perish with this "dangerous furnace". I did in fact seek another opinion. The issue he identified was in fact just fine. There was zero exhaust leakage & no problem at all. None of it added up, except to unsavory business practices. read more

Short version: pricing is deliberately misleading. Long version: Had a tech out to fix my furnace. Nice enough guy, and he got the furnace working again. However, he told me the part that needed to be replaced would cost $1300 if I were to buy it. I heard him on the phone with the supplier who told him it was $60. I looked it up online and found it for $60 to $120. I asked him about the price again after he got back with it, and he confirmed it would cost me $1300 to "buy it outright" - but he'd "save me about a grand" by replacing it under warranty - which the part was, and which would be the proper process anyway. I contacted their service department, and was finally sent an invoice. $98 for the service call and $450 for "REPLACE WARRANTY GAS VALVE." I asked her what was parts and what was labor. She said the $98 service call was labor, and the $450 was for the part, but she wasn't sure. I told her about the issue with the tech being deceptive, and she told me that she would "escalate" my issue. A couple days went by, and then I posted this review. The next day I got a call. Again, I asked for an explanation regarding the invoice. Per the terms of the warranty, I should not have to pay for parts, only labor. This person told me that both charges were labor. I then asked if the part hadn't been under warranty, if I would have been charged $1300 for it. She said that yes, that's the case. Over 2000% markup on parts??!!! That is shady! read more

This review is regarding the Service Technician Shawn Ross. Within the last 5 years of having a Kinetico Water System I've had a several Technician come out for service. Shawn Ross by far has been the best tech to work with. He is humble, knowledgeable, friendly, patient and very good at explaining the process and problem so that I can understand. Kinetico system are good, but very costly to maintain, and repair. Something to think about before getting one. I had Aquarius come out and tune up my old furnace. It was red-tagged and I was connected with their salesperson. I ordered a new furnace from them and they were very good at installing it. However, when installation was done, I was informed by the installers that their manager would need to come by and help widen the filter area, due to the unusual size. It was temporarily taped with shuntape, and I was told that the tape would not be a problem if the manager came by early the next week (this was Friday, November 8th) and installed a wider filter setting. As of today, November 17, I have not heard from any Aquarius manager. I have left two messages asking for responses. I am single parent with a child with special needs, and did not count on this several thousand dollar expense. Wondering where there customer service spirit went? Still sitting with shuntape over the filter area and no idea how dangerous this may be. Alarmed and disappointed by lack of follow through, after initial impressive service. read more

I asked Aquarius to inspect my furnace and clean/replace the flame sensor. Was told there was high temperature stress on the heat exchanger, high CO levels, and that it was not safe to run. We discussed replacement, and the technician gave me a quote, however I told him I needed time to do some research. Although I told him I did not want to feel pressured, he said they would be able to install a new furnace the very next day. He phoned a salesperson to introduce us, and I told them both that I did not want to feel pressured. I got a second inspection, and was assured the furnace was operating properly, and the CO levels are in the safe range. They also said that the flame sensor had not been cleaned, which was the problem I contacted them about. I do not feel Aquarius was being honest with me about my furnace's condition. My impression is that they were much more interested in selling me a new furnace, rather than addressing the problem I contacted them about. I asked for a refund of the $99 service charge. The salesperson told me he would see what he could do, and would call me back. He never called back. read more

I've had a RO system from Kinetico for years and even took it with me when I moved. Aquarius helped remove it and reinstall it in my new home. I LOVE our Kinetico water softener. To determine what type of softener you need someone comes to your house and gets their Mr. Wizard/Bill Nye the Science Guy on. He does a variety of experiments to demonstrate the evils of hard water. To show how much soap is left in your "clean" laundry he rinses a clean towel with water softened with his handy dandy hand held softener, then he show compares bubbles made with softened vs unsoftened water but his big finale is making you wash your hands with bar soap then rinse one with your regular hard water and one with the softened water. Then you have to lick the back of your hand. Blech. The one rinsed with the normal water tasted like liking the soap directly. I really like that the softener we chose has a filter in it so its like all of our water is Brita filtered without actually having to buy the filters. We opted to rent our softener because our next house may not have the same filtering needs. read more

I don't think there is a way to do negative stars, but I would do that if I could. I have had an Aquarius system for 10 years. The first time a technician showed up was today. I had no idea that they would come and look at things for free if you are renting a system. Over the phone, they always made it sound like they would charge you to walk in the door. Furthermore, because the original "salesman" or whatever he was was so excited to get the sale and leave, he never explained how to turn of the water the right way, so for 10 years, I have been going through extra work to change the filter. I actually followed the directions they gave me, but they are not correct for my house. It's hard for me to know that when their only "service call" in the last 10 years was to get the right credit card info when I changed cards or had an issue with security. When I originally signed up, I thought it would be like Culligan since we are paying around $50 a month, but it ended up being a rip off. I am going to look for another company as soon as I get a chance. They are a garbage company with garbage employees, except for two guys. My advice is to find another company as fast as you can. No amount of money you give them satisfies their greed! read more

I purchased a water purification system a couple years ago, however I was still having some trouble with exterior rust stains. I contacted Aquarious, and I'm happy to say the service I received far exceeded my expectations! They showed great concern for my issue and fixed my problem by installing an expensive tank... Aquarious has been fair and responsive to the issues that occurred as a result of a failure of the original particulate/mineral filtration system. It was replaced without charge but in combination we have had ongoing issues w the water softener not functioning consistently. It is believed the original failure caused a blockage in the softener valve and they replaced at no charge. Joe (tech) was very accountable to assure the issues were properly resolved without charge. I'm pleased with how fair they have been. Crossing our fingers we never have another issue. These products were recommended by them and had issues w both except reverse osmosis. That is why I gave 4 stars since the quality of the products did not hold up the first time around. FYI, only the reverse osmosis drinking system has been beneficial at reducing nitrates in water since we live in farming community. Filters are expensive to replace at $100 ea/yr. read more
