I'm with Danny D on this one folks. I first found Funx when my transmission went and had to bring it in. They charge me 2700 for a rebuild and later found out Collin would have done it for considerably cheaper. Like blow my mind cheaper. Needless to say that when my 4x4 went on me he was the first one I got ahold of. He fixed it for me while I was out of town and had it ready and running for me like a champ. When I don't break something on the beast I try and get in to see him for at least an oil change and putting on my winter tires (My wife also does the same). Speaking of my wife.... when she was getting her tires done a couple weeks ago there was a problem causing some clunking and instead of charging her out the ass like any of the mechanics we've been to before he simply applied a little red seal ingenuity and BLAMMO the problem was fixed for little to nothing. I've also just brought my truck in to repair a series of problems that I didn't know about or simply neglected. He told me that anywhere else would cost me 2400 and he'd do it for an even 2000. STEAL !! As he went through the work he found that my transmission didn't have to be rebuilt (again) and we didn't have to fix the 4x4 (again) and managed to find some parts that he could install to help me save some extra cash. Needless to say he saved me over 1000 dollars that I'm always interested in keeping in my pocket. Did I mention that my wife's dad comes from saskatchewan to get work done by him ?? Also on a side note I received a parking ticket for the tow truck driver parking my truck like a jerk when it got dropped off. He paid me out of his own pocket which leads me to doubt Tara's post about him not being the type willing to resolve certain problems. All in all I carry around a few of his business cards and give them to anyone who even says the words "mechanic". He does amazing work and is all about saving you the money you work so hard for. read more

Recently moved to Alberta and had an out-of-province inspection which resulted in the need for a significant amount of work. I had the inspection completed at another garage as there are only several in the city that are authorized to complete the inspections. I got three quotes for the work and called Funx for one of those quotes as I had been recommended their name by another customer. Funx provided the best quote and took the time to explain the quote to me. They also explained that they were able to provide a lower quote as they price their labour based on real time versus many larger garages that have a labour time for each part being replaced and don't consider the fact that it is faster when everything is being worked on at same time anyway. Funx went above and beyond and I trust in their work. They also noticed that my brake rotors were completely rusted and they replaced them at the cost of the part and didn't charge me additional labour as they already had other parts out and could access them easily. They were able to do this and still come in under the quote because they were able to obtain another part at a better price than they initially thought (aka. They passed savings on to me that I would never have known about). I also know their work was completed to a high standard as I had to bring my car back to the other garage for the final inspection which it passed immediately! A year back I was searching for a new mechanic as mine retired. I stumbled across Funx Automotive and took a chance (I always try and help the independents). Since then, Collin has been my go-to car guy. His knowledge and skill surpassed my old mechanic by leaps and bounds as he's a red seal mechanic. Collin is a no nonsense, straight up fella and strives on honesty and integrity. I'll be going to Funx Automotive for the foreseeable future. Thanks for the great service Collin! Oh, I read Tara D's review and I have to say it sounds personal. First thing she says is that the "service was fantastic". Just sounds like she's angry because she parked where she shouldn't have. I know the parking around Funx is only 30 minute parking but it's clearly marked. Collin has got a good sized lot out back so if he was working on her car, it would have been parked on his lot and not on the street. Also, did Collin try to call you to see if he could rectify the situation? I wouldn't call that harassment. I'm sure he would not have texted if he didn't think you were a friend. I can always depend on Collin and his crew at Funx Automotive to get me in and out in a reasonable time frame and to do a thorough job. There has never been any surprises because I am always kept in the loop about what's going on and when I should anticipate future maintenance/replacements. Recently my winter wheels had the wrong bolt pattern and different options were provided to find the best solution that worked for me to not only get me new ones but also to sell the ones that didn't work. Funx has always been a straight up mechanic shop that cuts to the chase, does great work, charges a fair price and will be honest about what they can or cannot do. Myself and my family take our vehicles (Rav4, MDX, Camry, etc.) all the time and have nothing but great things to say . It's rare these days to find a place where you walk away knowing you got fair value, without wondering if you over paid or had work done that wasn't necessary. They may not have PhDs in Calgary parking bylaws but they do know how to fix vehicles. Keep it up boys. read more

He is such an amazing mechanic, he never does work unless it is urgent, he always call my cell to keep me posted on what is happening with my car.
