We've been here twice, and would only return for someone we really want to see (like our second trip). Our main issue this time was around the VIP pass for the act. We paid $100more per ticket to stay after and meet and take a pic with the act. After the show a group of drunk women tried to stay for the VIP part but didn't have tickets. So they flirted with one of the male employees and he just gave them tickets. So lady's, don't buy a VIP ticket, just show cleavage and flirt with the bus boys. I bet the talent loves this practice! The general experience both times: - you're packed in like sardines. The have regulate tables, the line the Iles with chairs. My wife and I got a table where I had to sit in the booth and she had to sit in the isle so I was looking at the back of her head, and this so with the expensive VIP passes. - Food: did you eat before you came and just want some water for the 2+ hour show? Great! It's only $4 a bottle + expected tip! This is horse shit and they know people will pay because there isn't another option - the talent: The first time we went was to see someone we knew. There were like 7 stand-ups that night and we only laughed for a few of them. The second time we went for a specific act. Others who have gone here told us it wasn't funny at all. Went to a show here last night. The comedians were funny, we laughed quite a bit. The reason I'm only giving this place 2 stars is because it is WAY overpriced. My boyfriend and I spent a total of $85 before the show even started, and all we got for that money was 2 tickets and 2 shots of patron.....what? Unreal to charge $20 per shot and then they add 15% gratuity to the bill. Also, when we sat down and ordered an appetizer and asked for 2 waters, our waiter told us we could either get bottled water or tap water, but if we got tap water we had to purchase souvenir glasses to put it in. Seriously? We couldn't even get tap water for free? Not impressed with this place and wish there were other comedy clubs to go to in this area. If you do decide to go here, I highly recommend eating & drinking somewhere else before or after to avoid feeling ripped off and being disappointed with the not-so-great food. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. The drinks are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced, more than I've seen in downtown NYC and Chicago, and they CONSTANTLY upsell you. They're unclear on the prices - and will give you your tab without a breakdown, so you won't ask any questions. Let me say again, the DRINKS ARE PRICED AS IF THEY'RE MIXED WITH GOLD LEAF AND DIAMOND DUST, yet they're your typical crap dive bar mixed drinks. Absolutely stupid. And it's in a mall, for chrissakes! Once the show starts, the seating policy is annoying and vague, and the staff gets rude and bristly if you ask for anything but the table they shove you into. Once you sit down, the upsells and $20 drinks start again. And they DON'T LEAVE YOU ALONE. They will be on you all night, and will guilt you if you don't go top shelf, basically telling you you're an idiot with no taste. We spent about $150 for 7 drinks between two people and a lousy appetizer! I feel bad for the upstart comics here (since they rarely get a-listers, or even b-listers) since the staff is absolutely fleecing the patrons for drinks and food. If you're at the bar, take a gander at the chalkboard behind the bar where they have tallies of points for the staff, with the words "UPSELL! UPSELL! UPSELL!" So tacky. So lousy. Came out tonight for some laughs and to relax after a long work week. Arrived early for good seating and was ready to cry with laughter. As a party of 6, we expected a crowd and sure enough it was a full house. I'm not a drinker but when the waitress came to take our orders, I was ready for once. I wanted a refillable glass of cranberry juice and loaded French fries. I was told they don't sell it like that and I have ordered it before. Refillable drinks gets the souvenir glass to take home and make great gifts. I requested a manager and I'm still waiting to speak to one. The waitress brought a sprite to the table which no one ordered but the Bernie Mac & cheese was delicious. It was a very full bowl of it and surprisingly had adequate amount of cheese. By the end of the show, the bills came but never was I able to speak to a manager. So I enjoyed the comedians but the service was awful. Eat before or after the show! read more

We come here quite often because it's cheaper to come here than it is to go up to DC to see the same artist. We've seen some really good folks here from Jon Reep to Deon Cole. This place is a RIP OFF! Don't be fooled when they "give" you "free" tickets.... That's how they suck you into the spiders web! They give you a menu with no posted prices. Then they fleece you for $17 drinks If you get free tickets, eat somewhere else, drink somewhere else... then sit back and enjoy the comedy. My husband & I have visited several comedy clubs on the East Coast. This was our first visit to the Richmond Funny Bone and the venue, location was great!! We saw John Witherspoon and he was sooo funny as ever!! The comment I have is that the service was pretty bad. We order a basket of fries along with 2 drinks. The drinks arrived on time but the fries came about 45 mins later. We were starving and I didn't want to drink on an empty stomach. Not only were they late, but they were almost raw and soggy and not even that warm. I didn't think you can mess up fries but there you go. Also, pay attention to your check. I almost tipped twice since they already add a tip to your bill but then also add an extra line for an additional tip. If you're tipsy enough, you won't notice and you will double-tip. We plan to be back but we will make sure to eat before we get there. read more

We arrived at 6:15 for a 7pm Sunday show to see Gary Owen. We ended up sitting center 4 rows back. Perfect to see the stage. The line up for the evening was super funny. I enjoyed the show. The staff checking tickets and directing to seating were ok (no smiles). Inside we ordered a few drinks and some wings. Our servers name was Brain. He was accutate and timely. The Gummy bear drink is good but the Purple Haze wasnt for me. I guess my only complaint would be that it was tight and I was bumped four times (aisle seat at a table). Overall good night read more

The Funny Bone was hosting Bert Kreischer and I decided it was well worth the trip to Richmond. The venue is well designed. Good thing we got there early because we were seated in a booth in the second row. PRIME SEATING. So it is suggested that you don't dilly dally around and get there on time if you want good seats. With that being said, I think that is was made my night. We had a full frontal of him which made the night exceptionally better! I ordered the Funny Bone Burger with fries. I split the Mozzarella Sticks and Spinach Artichoke Dip with my partner in crime. The food itself was average. The burger was delicious but I've definitely had better. There just wasn't any juice to it... As for the Mozzarella sticks, they were fantastic! They were super crispy and warm; and just the right size. I found the triangular shape of this finger food to be quite entertaining. Well that's my take on that. Overall, I think I enjoyed the venue more than food. It was very convenient to order food while watching the main act. It was an added bonus - for people like myself who are from out of town trying to get to a show on time but are stuck in I-95 traffic for no reason on a Saturday. Definitely will have to make my way to back this venue if I see any shows I like. read more

I have a love hate relationship with the Funny Bone. On the good hand, I've been able to see all of my favorite comedians and I live nearby so it is very convenient to get to. Another plus is that it's very easy to sign up to get free tickets to shows. They won't be top rated ones but they are often very funny, which led to me being there Friday night to see Schuler King who was hilarious along with his opening act. So top comedians, great location and free tickets for the good. Now for the bad. First off, the seating setup absolutely sucks. I feel like a herd of cattle being squished into a barn. You have to be friendly because you will very likely be on top of someone you don't know. And use the bathroom before you get comfy because if you gotta maneuver between all those chairs and people, best of luck to you. Secondly, the quality of the food is average at best and mediocre at worst. Last night we ordered popcorn chicken bites. Now I know popcorn chicken is small pieces of chicken, but all we got was a basket of all the crispy ends and pieces that fell off the actual pieces of chicken. It was pretty pathetic. Most of the items leave me wanting more. The third downside is the price of the menu items. Both the drinks and the food are overpriced. A basket of wings and fries runs you $15, a basket of fries is $6, and my popcorn bites were $9. The drinks are even worse. I feel like they intentionally upcharge moscato due to its popularity for it is more expensive than any of the other wines. A drink with premium vodka costs $15. News flash Richmond, this ain't DC! Once you throw in taxes and the automatic 15% gratuity and you usually walk outta there with a nice hefty bill. For our basket of chicken skin and water, our tab was $14 which is pretty insane. My advice is to eat a hearty meal before you go, pre-game and have some drinks too so that when you get there all you need is something small to nibble on and maybe one beverage. read more

This is the worst place I ever went to. I decided to wait a little bit before posting my review to see if my feelings would remain as strong, but there has been no change. So here it goes: We went here to celebrate New Years Eve. The DC Improv sold out quite early, so this was my back up choice. It seemed like it would be fun to give Richmond a chance over DC just to do something different and to avoid the traffic. For $50/person, you could see a stand-up comic show from 10pm-12:30am featuring Alonzo Bodden as well as 2 warm-up comics. Also included in the price was a complimentary plate of assorted cheeses, crackers and grapes; a glass of champagne; a noisemaker; a paper hat; and 2 complimentary glasses commemorating the evening. Seating is first come first served and the queue was out the door at 9:30pm when we arrived. It seemed strange that the lobby in the building wasn't large enough to accommodate all of the patrons who rsvp'ed -- we ended up waiting in the cold for about 25 minutes. So far not so great, but some places are space-limited so I understand. While in the lobby waiting to enter the main room, an argument ensued between a group of patrons and the manager. On the website for the event, it was advertised that the second show (ours) allowed smoking. Apparently this rule was changed by the management at the last minute which did not go over very well with this group. After a voluble argument -- including the manager yelling at the patrons -- they were refunded their money though technically refunds are not allowed. They proceeded to smoke in the lobby (which was allowed) and then left. I kind of thought they lost since they now had no plans for New Years Eve and there was only 2 hours left. But this was a harbinger of things to come, and I now realize that they won... The comic show was pretty entertaining. Alonzo Bodden (winner on the tv show Last Comic Standing) was fairly good and did a routine capturing the year in review focusing much on political rise of Barack Obama. Being New Years, this seemed apropos and proved to be fairly amusing. The crowd was entertained and had a good time. The menu was reduced to only include hors d'oeuvres and drinks. This was unreasonable as I noticed a number of people wanted to order full entrees, including us. We had an order of wings and an order of fried shrimp. Both orders were just okay -- basically comparable to what you would find in a bar. Seating was spread out fairly well, and I think all of the seats afforded a fairly good view of the comedians. The sound was also fine for the event. A tv screen was turned on just before New Years to a live feed from New York with the ball dropping. I kind missed some of this as I found myself in a bit of trouble... Apparently taking photos of any kind within this club is forbidden -- well sort of. At the end of Alonzo's act I tried to take a photo with my Iphone (which does not have a flash), and I was pulled away by a man named Innocent. Several other people were taking photos (with flashes no less), but only I was pulled away. I was taken to the main lobby and my date joined me. He proceeded to yell at me and asked if I thought their rules were a joke. I did not betray a smile, and on the contrary took this rude interruption quite seriously. I was unaware of any policy forbidding the use of cameras during the performance. He proceeded to yell at me at some length and said that I would normally be thrown out of the club. Instead I was asked to erase my photo and was allowed to eventually return into the room about 2 minutes before midnight -- gee thanks. I was really in a great mood when that ball dropped! My date suggested we leave, but we still had a food and bar bill of about $40 that wasn't paid, and we would have spent New Years Eve in a cold parking lot -- not a great way to begin the year. At any rate after we returned to the room and sat down, an announcement was made that photos were now allowed to be taken. Another example of the management changing the policy whimsically. We were not especially pleased with this announcement. Worse, Innocent returned to tell us that his manager wanted him to apologize to us. Again, he didn't want to apologize to us, his manager wanted him to apologize. Well, about 20 minutes later, the festivities concluded, and we went to speak with the manager to discuss what had happened that evening. He said that he did not ask Innocent to apologize to us. ?? Watch out for Innocent, he is a bit passive-aggressive! Worse, the manager did not feel that there was anything to apologize for and reiterated the photo policy. He was indifferent to other people taking photos or the fact that photos were allowed to be taken after we were frog marched out of the place. He then proceeded to yell at us... What a great way to start the year! Unless the manager and staff changes, I would stay well clear of this place... read more

I think the Funny Bone may be the only comedy club left in Richmond, so if you want to see comedians on any regular basis, you'll end up here. There are definitely some positives to the Funny Bone- they give away a lot of comp tickets, so half the time we get in for free, and they have a range of comedians. You can request comedians through their website, and they are pretty accommodating- I requested John Pinette and he was scheduled for within a few months. They also have a soda special, $8 for all you can drink and you can keep the glass. The service is mediocre at best so it's not like you could really drink $8 worth of soda, but the glasses are nice. I've also had some of their mixed drinks, and thought they were good too. They have smoke-free nights, and "clean" shows too, which are nice if you don't want to hear sex jokes all night. They also have local comedians come up and warm up the crowd, and some of them are not so bad... makes you appreciate the main act with he/she arrives. If you go to restaurants.com you can buy a gift certificate for $25 for like $5, which is a nice way to offset the cost of dinner there... but the prices are pretty reasonable anyway, and the food really isn't that good, so I would recommend eating a late dinner somewhere else after the show. Seating is first come first serve, so if you really want good seats or your own table, you have to get there an hour before the show, or more. As another reviewer mentioned, they cram way too many people in at the tables, and you are asked to share unless you have enough people in your party to fill a four top... so be prepared to sit with strangers, and to not complain. The biggest problem I usually have at Funny Bone is the other patrons and the seating policies. The only time I have really cared about where I sat was when we went to see John Pinette and I wanted to sit up front. So we got there super early and waited in line... only to have some random couple who was meeting their friends arrive at the last minute, and cut in front of us so they could be seated with their friends- they literally walked past all the other people who had been patiently waiting and had arrived ahead of them, and rudely interrupted the host and insisted on being sat. Their friends were already saving seats for them (Which I am surprised they were allowed to do) and the host literally turned away from me and my husband as he was talking to us to seat these two extremely rude people who had just shown up- I was so disgusted. That host should have told those patrons that they had to wait in the same line as everyone else, and be thankful that at least they had seats saved and wouldn't have to sit in the back after waiting in line, like most people would have. When I said to the host that I thought it was unfair that we had to wait while he seated people who just arrived, he promptly told me that their friends had saved them seats. SO WHAT? I should have my friends come early and save me seats, so I can cut in front of all the other people who showed up on time???? That makes no sense, and frankly that host was rude. So overall, there are a lot of reasons to love this club, but I can see why people choose not to patronize this place, and why they have to give tickets away to fill the seats. They need to invest in a better trained staff, in my opinion. read more

Very disappointed and dissatisfied with the customer service at this location. I purchased a gift card for Christmas online. The gift card was not delivered to the recipient until 12/27. After numerous inquiries a manger called me back to resolve the issue. He offered and let me repeat offered me a refund back to my card due to the inconvenience and frustration. A couple of f/u emails were sent and let's just say that refund never happened. It's one thing to screw up but why offer if your not going to fulfill your offer. I hope my grandfather and his wife have no issues when it comes down to using the actual giftcard. The funny bone in NY is nothing shy of a good time, accommodating and respectful and they say the South has better hospitality..... I beg to differ. My boyfriend and I were in town for the weekend and we decided to see Faizon Love. OMG I never knew he was that funny and his opening acts were just as funny. We had a great time and laughed the entire night. We didn't order any food or drinks because we just ate and we don't drink. I liked the interior. We didn't feel any cramped then normal at other comedy clubs so I have no complaints. Actually I thought this venue was better then most comedy clubs we have been to anyway. I would give zero (or negative) stars if possible... It has probably been a year since we have been to the Funny Bone (FB) and this review is long overdue. I think it's really unfortunate that this club can't get it together. For those of us who love stand-up comedy, it's a real shame that there isn't a decent place to get it anymore. I'm not one to hide behind a review without talking to the management about my concerns, and there is no exception in this case. The issue is that the management at FB doesn't care, and that's their choice. And I have the choice to share my experience here so maybe somebody else may save a few bucks and not waste their time. Without going into a long, dramatic story of why we are boycotting the FB, I will just sum up the reasons why they stink. Here we go... 1) Promotions, no matter what kind, are not truly promotions. Just a way to get you in the door and waste your money; making you buy their crappy food. If you read the fine print, there's always a minimum purchase or some hang up. 2) Crappy food (standard fried baskets of fried everything). 3) Tiny, expensive drinks. Ordering a double just means you get a drink that is considered normal size for the rest of the world. 4) The waitress takes forever to come around (so you better order two drinks up front, otherwise you'll be sitting there thirsty waiting for Hayley's comet to come 'round again). 5) As others have mentioned, you are packed into the theatre and often have to share a teeny, tiny table with strangers. 6) Waiting in a long line to get in, even if you have your ticket already. 7) Opening announcements and headliner intro is usually an ear blaster! I want to be able to hear the comedians, ah...thank you. 8) Mediocre comedians. Occasionally they can book a heavy hitter, but most of the time it's just average. On a side note, when they do book a decent comedian, a lot of times the performance is lackluster. Maybe said comedians view Richmond, or more specifically, Short Pump, as a "po-dunk town." I can't tell you how many comedians I've seen slam Richmond and/or Short Pump during their act and everyone laughs...Now, I'm not overly sensitive, but really?! We're spending money to see you... Respect. And, last but not least... 9) Do not leave a performance without a receipt... no matter how crappy the comedian may be! Apparently, the FB has a big problem with people walking out on their tab, which means that now they don't trust ANY of their customers. It is their policy to treat everyone like criminals, then back step if it turns out they are wrong. And they are so wrong in so many ways. In short... I do not recommend getting your laughs at the FB, because in the end, there are none to be had. read more

My wife and I bought tickets to the show on Wed, Jan. 25,2012. We decided to try the food there as well and bought a $25 coupon online. When we arrived, we were told to wait in the bar area until seating was available. We ordered 2 drinks off a menu that lacked any pricing. When the bill arrived, we discovered we had paid $23.41 for two pretty nondescript Margaritas. We were seated a few minutes later at table #12, right at the stage. Then the wait began. After about ten minutes our waiter came and took our order, a bottle of wine ($28) and two orders of crab cakes ($18 ea). An hour later, after the show had started, our food and wine arrived. Fortunately, the wine had a screw top, as the waiter never offered to open it! Just as the show ended, we were presented a bill for $76.80 for the food ordered, including a $9.60 tip automatically charged by the house. We had told our waiter we were interested in desert, but never had a chance to order any. We were then told our coupon could not be used our purchase, as it was for "Food only" and required a #50 minimum purchase. I asked to see the manager. She could not have been any more uninterested in listening to me. She said she would give us the coupon value if we had showed the coupon to the server when ordering (which we did...the coupon was sitting on the table the entire time we ordered!) I declined her offer, as I was pretty sure she was going to charge the $25 against the waiter. While our service was anything but prompt from the food delivery standpoint, our waiter stopped by our table twice to assure us it was coming. The food was warm and freshly prepared when it finally arrived, making me believe the kitchen was at fault rather than our waiter. The bottom line is that this place appears to be set up to be a ripoff from the time you enter! From the lack of prices on the menus, to the delay in service preventing other orders to reach the coupon value. We noticed most tables ordered a drink and an appetizer, so apparently that's the way to go here. Don't waste your time with coupons or special offers. Apparently these folks have planned ways to get around all those things. The comedy acts were varied in quality. I don't think we'll go back. There are other similar places in Richmond where you get better value for money. read more

This is the only place Richmond has for comedy.. Good and Bad. So the price to see a show isn't bad at all. Now what is pricey is the drinks. The food is ok, nothing to boot and holler over. I try to eat before going because my fiancé got food poisoning from here before. The drinks are good but definitely over priced. You even have to pay for water. The other thing I hate is that it's kinda small in there and they make you touch knees(literally) with someone you don't know if you don't come with friends. I try to make sure I let them know I want a back booth seat because if you sit in the aisle the waiters will step all on you. The other thing I don't like is that they charge their own gratuity which I don't like because I tip according to how my service was. If the service isn't good then I don't tip well. It's a nice date night spot. It can be romantic because of the dim light from the candle on your table. You do get a souvenir glass when you buy certain drinks as well. I will continue to come here because they bring good acts there. So definitely a place to visit.. read more

For the cost of the show, pre-paid reservations and location I expected a lot more. As a heads up these jokers start the game on a bad footing. I watched some joker paw through the ladies purse in front of me for 'contraband'. He removed her bottle of water and waved them on. Then he pawed through my wife's purse without asking us. We were unaware they felt the need to pull that little move. Then we had to stand in another line for a show we had reservations for. Remember they knew we were coming? We were saw on rickety uncomfortable chairs by a very rude person who didnt see the problem that we could not fit where he was putting us. Thankfully couples on either side did not mind all of the bumping during the show. Eating and drinking was OUT! How do you eat facing away from the table? Drinks? Good luck our waitstaff was someplace else having fun. You never saw more than 3 in the room at any given time. I have to give a big thanks to Longhorns as they had a great meal for us when we went there to eat. Go here for the show and get there 2 hours early. Dont plan to eat though. Visited with a group of 7 for the headliner Jr from the Steve Harvey Morning show. We arrived an hour early for good seats and ended up on the second row! I was nervous that these seats would set us up for some serious joking but it worked out. The menu is a little high but that's to be expected. I ordered a beverage (w/refills) and the hot wing basket. The food was good but they charge extra for ranch or bleu cheese and they automatically add 18% gratuity to check. Our server was pretty good. Now on the comics.. Jr wasn't really that funny and the 1st opening act/host talked like he had marbles in his mouth, really couldn't understand half of what he said but the 2nd act, Alex Scott, that fool was crazy funny!!! First time going this past Friday with my boyfriend to see Desi Banks. Got there early as requested. Seating was comfortable and nice. A waitress named Leah I think was very nice and gave us suggestions on what to order. Pricing for the alcoholic beverages were a little pricey so we did not order. She suggested the pulled pork nachos which turned out to be delicious. My boyfriend got the wings (plain). We ordered the Bavarian pretzels as an appetizer when they arrived they were burnt (ew). We asked the person who delivered our food to the table to take them back because it didn't look appetizing. Our waitress was courteous about checking on us throughout the evening but I wasnt ok with water being $2. By the time we got our check the pretzels were still on there so we asked if they could be taken off. She says we still have to pay for them since we ordered them. We denied and asked to speak to a manager. She never came back to the table and my boyfriend had to go find a manager his self and the manager took care of it and gave us two feee tickets. Although the headline comedian David Landau was hilarious, I found the venue to be cramped and stuffy. We were in a party of 4 and were stuffed in literally feeling the breath on my cheek from the stranger at the table next to me. The tables were so small, no room for both food and drinks for 2 let alone 4 people. I understand having more of an audience establishes more profit but don't sacrifice a customers comfort and experience to do so. read more

Show was great, but venue has horribly loud obnoxious system for (overly long) pre-show announcements and fill in music; won't return for that reason. Service was good, eat first if you are gluten intolerant, there is nothing on menu for you. read more

Funny Bone is located in the Short Pump Town Center, on Highway 250 near the northwestern intersection of I-64 and I-295. It's on the far side of the center from the entrances off Highway 250, near DIck's Sporting Goods and the Hotel Sierra. You enter the club through the bar area to reach the showroom - so you can stop and order drinks on your way in. The interior of the club is nonsmoking, but there is an outdoor patio area accessible from the inside for the smokers in your group. There don't appear to be any reserved tables - first come first served - so get there early if you want to be right down front. The showroom itself is small, but not oppressively so - the tables are spaced far enough apart so that you don't feel as though you are sitting in your neighbor's lap. We sat close to the front on the right-hand side of the stage and the view was excellent from there, but it didn't seem as though even the seats in the back would have been terrible. Drinks are pricy, to say the least. When your wife has a martini, you have an Irish Coffee, and your bill is $26.. well, that's just inexcusable. Yes, it was New Year's Eve. Yes, the club was jammed and the bar was backed up. I can understand delays in getting drinks *to* the table under those circumstances. But I can't understand the server using that as an excuse to fail to come get a drink order in the first place. It was literally 25 minutes before the server even made it to the table to TAKE our order - we were seated just after 9:30 and it wasn't until the show was about to get underway before the server showed up, and only then because Paula flagged down another server. There is NO excuse in the world for that - I don't care how slammed you are, at least take the time to acknowledge the presence of customers in your area and explain the situation within a couple of minutes after they are seated. And because the Funny Bone (as some other clubs have started to do) adds gratuity to the bill, there's no particular incentive for the servers to change their ways. (I've never done it, but I wonder what would have happened if I had zeroed out, or adjusted downward, the gratuity that had already been added to the bill.) It doesn't look as though the Funny Bone is hurting for business - they do have an impressive roster of comics that pass through the club, to be sure, and maybe that's enough of a reason for them to worry less about customer service than some other clubs. Richmond's close enough to Raleigh so that we'd probably make a trip up there a couple of times a year for someone we want to see. But the prices and the service failures will make me think twice now about doing it on the spur of the moment, for anyone other than a top-of-the-line headliner. read more

Terrible experience! Didn't even get to watch my show. Don't get me wrong. Great looking place, lively atmosphere, but stood in line a half hour after the show was supposed to start. Finally, we were seated, served drinks, ordered food, and it still took another hour for us to be told that the show was cancelled. I was really looking forward to the experience. Nice glasses though, their count might be a little short in the morning. read more

I attended the D.L Hughley show last night and all the performances were great! However the place was over seated, there-were seats in the isle's in-front of tables. This blocked people's right of passage as you had to disturb other patrons seated in the isle just to get out of your seat, the waiters and waitresses even struggled to get through.I don't see how this is not a fire hazard. Previous visits have been five star. Not at all happy with my most recent experience. I actually felt this recent arrangement was ridiculous! Very disappointing!!!! read more

My wife and I went there for their New Year's Eve show. We had a great time. Contrary to what others say, the waiter did not once push us to buy drinks. I had a glass of red wine. The cost was $8 which I thought was reasonable. The food was average. The three comedians were very funny. The house was about 2/3 full. I would give 5 stars if the tables were a little larger. read more

2.5 stars. Richmond funny bone is what it is. Sign up for the email list, they offer free tickets to most shows and then make money on the drinks and food (which aren't good. Skip it. Or don't and get a serious laugh at the absurdity of your tab.) Sometimes they get some good comics that we've really enjoyed seeing. Don't take free tickets without checking out the comics online first, some are pretty bad. read more

I have seen a couple of good comedians here over the years. The comedians, overall, are funny/entertaining. The service sux! 1) Overpriced drinks and food (eat before you arrive). Also, slow service. 2) Patrons packed in like a bunch of chickens in a truck heading to the Purdue processing plant. One night I was so far in the back, I basically was in the kitchen -- I should have helped the staff out by dropping a basket of fries. In other words, tight, tight seating...what can you expect from a club in the mall?? 3) Unfriendly, unprofessional staff. I don't feel like they care at all about their patrons. Richmond doesn't have a great deal of entertainment (little to no competition), that is why The Richmond Funny Bone treats its customers poorly. 4) Drunken idiots heckle the comedians and "security" doesn't rectify the situations (ask those interrupting the show to leave). This heckling disrupts the show, throws the comedians off and ruins the show for everyone. I paid to hear/see comedians not local Richmond-area drunks. 5) "Security" looked through my pocketbook for weapons, alcohol, but didn't check my boyfriend's jacket at all. Save your hard-earned money; The Richmond Funny Bone doesn't deserve it. read more

Food was good, drinks took 45 min to get to the table, we ordered last of everyone but were seated nearly first. Wait staff needs to get the initial orders in faster, by the time I got my first drink I should have finished two so they lost opportunity for more drink sales. O well. Again, you go for the comedian, not the service. read more
