I came to the Funny Bone this evening to celebrate my best friend's 30th birthday, and overall we had a really great time.
The show itself was absolutely hilarious. We came to see Jess Hilarious, and she did not disappoint. Her opener was also very funny, and the energy throughout the performance was fantastic.
The service matched what we've come to expect from the Funny Bone. There is typically a long wait time for food, which we anticipated, so we placed our orders immediately after being seated. When the food arrived, everything was hot and correct. Our waiter, Jacob, was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and genuinely pleasant throughout the night.
There was also a situation with a disruptive group seated near us. They were extremely loud and rude, but I appreciated how the staff handled it. They were spoken to multiple times, and when their behavior continued, management discreetly and smoothly escorted them out. It was handled professionally and without causing a scene.
Unfortunately, my experience shifted toward the end of the evening during the meet-and-greet line. A guest ahead of us appeared highly intoxicated, fell forward, and hit the ground. She was visibly shaking and clearly not in a good state. After noticing that no one immediately stepped in, our group helped her up, seated her in a chair, and I offered her water.
What concerned me was how the situation was handled by a staff member named Will. Instead of assisting, he was extremely aggressive, loudly telling her she needed to leave. While I understand policies regarding intoxicated guests, the approach felt unnecessarily harsh given that the individual had just fallen and appeared physically distressed.
As someone with medical training, my primary concern was her safety. I wasn't trying to interfere with staff responsibilities, only to help stabilize the situation. However, I was met with hostility and even asked if I wanted to be kicked out. That interaction felt unprofessional and uncomfortable.
I did speak with a manager afterward, who listened, which I appreciated. Still, the handling of that incident left a negative impression. There's a difference between enforcing policy and showing basic care for someone who has just hit the floor.
Despite that ending, the show, food, and most of the staff were great. I truly enjoy coming here, but I hope management considers a more compassionate approach in situations involving guest safety. read more
