We came here for a work event which included our drinks. The club wasn't packed at all. I expected more, like an updated venue. The wait staff was incredible and the drinks were literally OK. If you get drinks from the bar outside of the main room the bartender is better. She was making a decent whiskey sour and chocolate Martini. After the comedy show which was amateur hour at best but still pretty decent we went to the karaoke room which was much nicer. The only downside was the drinks sucked over there which ONLY comes down to the bartender. If the drinks weren't free I would not recommend purchasing a cocktail. We attended a sold out show. Thoroughly enjoyed the comedy, but the customer experience was awful. They had added a row of chairs in an aisle (presumably to get more tickets sold), and this is where we were seated, even when we arrived a half hour before the show, and there were other seats available. We had no table, and had to sit with our feet tucked under our chairs the whole time so as not to trip the waitstaff. We opted not to order drinks because we had nowhere to set them, and when I told the waitress, "I don't want anything, thank you" I got a dirty look. Hit or miss on the performers, but staff is always great, drinks are always cold. Seating is first come first served, but I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. If you donate to their animal shelter you can get future tickets for $1! That's my favorite part! We attend several times a year and really only pay for our drinks. read more

I have not been here for several years. This place is great. The people here were nice. The server was friendly and fast service. We came here at an early show at 530pm for new year eve. There were three comedians. The best comedian was the main comedian. He was so funny. It was a relaxing environment and a great way to spent the evening. We bought tickets online to the 7:30 show to see Ben Bailey. We arrived about 7:10 and the audience was already seated. The first comedian came on stage at 7:15. Wow, I'm glad we didn't arrive any later than we did. The first two comedians were ok. Then the star of Cash Cab, Ben Bailey came on stage and his set lasted about 45 minutes. It was not stop laughter. I thoroughly enjoyed his performance! The tables are crowded together and the chairs are not comfortable. Our server was excellent and she bowed down when she entered and exited so she wouldn't block our view. read more

I'm not much of a live comedy show guy but I made a long overdue visit to this place for the first time recently, and it was cool overall. Saw Jim Florentine perform as well as two local openers. I've been here so many times and every time we go we have an absolute BLAST! They always get great comedians in and they have such a great schedule. The ticket prices aren't bad and the drink prices aren't bad either! They have a couple cocktails and a full bar to make a good drink. The openers here are always hilarious and so nice. I was visiting Saint Louis, and searching for something fun to do on a Tuesday night. I found out about this place, and decided to check out their Open Mic Night. Tickets were only $5 at the door, and the show started shortly after at 7:30pm. I'm not sure how many comics there were, but I think there were around 10 or so. Some of them were absolutely hilarious, some were good, and a couple of them needed to work on their material a little more. Either way, it takes a brave person to get up on stage in front of complete strangers and tell jokes like that. I truly give them all so much credit for doing what they did.   Overall, I had a great time, and some good laughs. The entire staff was very warm and welcoming, the server also worked very hard to keep the drinks flowing.   If I ever find myself in Saint Louis again, I'll be sure to stop here to check out another show. read more

Josh Wolf was amazing. But it was so over crowded. I was forced to sit right against the wall by the stage so my view was essentially the back of the comedians head. If I wanted to get up and go to the bathroom everybody who was in my section would have had to get up as well in order for me to leave. Which also required tripping over all the coats hanging off the back of the seats. I paid for what I assumed was the standard chair and table set up. Instead we were allotted two chairs and ZERO space. Drinks had to be held or put on the ground. Because once again we had two chairs. No table. Honestly it ruined the whole experience. read more

Its my first time at the Funny Bone and I was pleased with how much fun we had. The show and the comedy was great, but I was surprised and didn not know til we showed up about the 2 drink minimum purchase! To the owners, it would be nice if you posted prices of the OVER priced cocktails on the menus! or all the drinks. You don't really need to charge $9 for a mixed drink. Absurd. You get an overpriced bill for 2 drinks. I personally don't drink a lot, I know you can also order a soda, but the drinks are super over priced as I said. I was able to use a groupon deal for this event but otherwise we would have paid a fortune. The drinks cost MORE than the tickets for the event!? Wow. The Funny Bone was a pleasant surprise. I hadn't been to The Funny Bone since sometime in the 1980's! It is not a high end venue, but it was a nice place to relax and enjoy a show. The tables were close to one another, but it wasn't a problem. My only complaint is that the Funny Bone's information online said that they serve food. They do not have any food, just drinks. We had to scramble to get food before the show at Fuzzy's, a restaurant next door to The Funny Bone. It is great to have an entertainment option like The Funny Bone in St. Louis. When you want to do something other than going to a movie or a sporting event, give The Funny Bone a try. read more

These clowns cancel an Andrew Dice Clay show a week before and promise refund by the end of the week. 5 weeks later no refund has been processed. Here are the list of excuses I have received: 1. So we have been to this comedy club many times over the years, and have seen a wide variety of comedians. Some really famous, others not so much. Every time we have gone though, has been a good experience. The club itself is a bit smaller than others we have been to, but also makes for a more intimate atmosphere, and the performer feels like he is right next to you, which depending on where you sit, he/she might be. They have servers that will come around throughout the show and take drink orders. They used to serve food too, but my most recent visit I didn't see a food menu so not sure if they still do that or not. Also, there is a bar connected to the club that has specials after the show, which is nice. And they usually do a charity collection thing at the end of the night where you can score some free tickets for a future visit. Some people we have seen there are Pauly Shore, 2 guys from Super Troopers, & Tim Meadows. Prices are usually really affordable, so come check this out for a nice night out and some good laughs. read more

I came back here after a few years and had a great experience. First off, and most importantly -- it is now NON-SMOKING. This is huge. From Mon-Wed, you can get in for just $3 if you pre-buy online ($5 at the door). On other days I believe the admission is $10. I came here on a Wednesday and saw a great nationally-touring comedian (Jenny Zigrino) so it was a good deal. In addition the two local comedians who opened were both fantastic. There is also a two-drink-per-person minimum, although I don't think they are super strict about it. You can probably get away with getting one drink and sipping it slow. Drinks are about $5-6 for wine/cocktails. Our service was also quick and attentive. There was a diverse group of about 50-or-so people when I came. The place had the feel of an intimate comedy club, the kind you would find in a city like Chicago or NYC. Great for couples or larger groups. The club is a bit tucked away and can be hard to find. It's right behind the Trainwreck Saloon the ground floor. It's a bit of a drive from the city but totally worth it. For pre-show dining I highly suggest Priyaa (great Indian restaurant) just a couple miles away. read more

I live two hours from the club and sent a message Monday about their open mic on Tuesday night. The response I got on Tuesday was that if I came down that night, they would make sure I got on the list to get on stage. So I spend my Tuesday night driving down and when I get there and the list is made, I'm not on it. I asked the host about it and showed him the conversation from FB. He told me he had no idea who that was but that he's go talk to someone. I waited about ten minute and went and found him. He was talking to a group of people and eventually walked away. He walked past me and didn't say anything so I just left. I'm really happy about wasting my night and money to drive down. read more

We had a good price on tickets so we went; had no clue who the headline comedian was. Just like any comedy club, if you don't know the comedian you are taking a risk. One south of three wasn't bad. Two drink minimum made us thankful we had good ticket price. You do get in for free your birthday month. Intimate seating AKA sit close to everyone. ~So we had the pleasure of listening to the lady next to us complain all night about two drink minimum~ try to sit all the way in because the workers (back by the bar) were pretty loud at times and we had a hard time understating the comedian. It feels very 90's atmosphere, and need to be updated. I recently hit up open mic night. Tickets are only $1 if you buy online vs $5 at the door. There's supposed to be a 2 drink minimum but the waitress didn't seem to care. Overall, it was entertaining. It had been a long time since I'd been to anything other than a massive stadium comedy show with big names so it was nice to have a more intimate setting. However, the interior of this place hasn't changed a LONG time. It has that same old stench that you get in bowling alleys and skating rinks that haven't had paint or carpet replaced in decades. The tables and chairs are shoved in so close together that it's hard to get up if you need to use the restroom. They also don't hand out menus so you have no clue what your drinks cost. I paid almost $10/cup for non-generous wine pours. The drink selection is really limited with only domestic macro beers and cheap wines. They have an ok liquor selection. read more

Standing here for over 45 mins waiting to get into the comedy show. Because there is no rhyme or reason of a line people are all over the place and many have butted in front of the original line. Major disappointment. They encourage you to bring all your friends out to the club so you have a chance to do open mic night and then at the last minute they pull the plug if they don't know you already or don't suck up to the head guys. They said initially I couldn't go up because I wasn't wearing pants and then I embarrassingly switched pants with one of my guests who I convinced to come out so they would consider me for the gig. My guest I invited reluctantly switched pants, socks, and shoes so I could have a shot at going on stage. When I came back in and told the head guy I switched pants he looked and said I was in the program. Once the show started I asked the MC what number I was to go up and he said I wasn't on the list and needed to talk with someone else. Can you imagined how embarrassed I am now? All eight people paid a cover charge just to walk in the door just to hear me. All eight people had ordered drinks while waiting for me to go on stage to hear me and I walk over with my tail between my legs to tell them, "I'm sorry you came all this way to hear me but I wasn't picked for the program tonight." Apparently first timers that bring crowds are guaranteed to be selected according to everyone else. Not true. From a business and ethical standpoint this is just wrong. They took the short term gain on taking my friends and family money and upsetted everyone in the process. The manager said that this is show business. Are you kidding me? That is just poor business and customer service. Imagine if I said to all my clients, "Sorry but that is just the way it is". I would be out of business tomorrow. If they would have told me I wasn't picked I would have encouraged my friends to join me elsewhere but instead paid a cover charge that was non-refundable. The best the manager said he could do was give everyone free passes to the next show which frankly why would you come back to a place that over-promised and under-delivered? The sad part of the whole story is that the Funny Bone used to have great service, friendly staff, and good comics. This wasn't my experience this visit. Another bunk was the A/C didn't work which made it miserable to sit through the program. I'll never come back to the Funny Bone in St. Louis Westport Plaza ever for open mic night, any other show even if Seinfeld performs here for free. read more

Before I turned 21, the Funny Bone was the go-to place for a night out. You could hang with the 21+ up crowd, smoke cigarettes, and laugh your ass off at whichever Last Comic Standing reject was on stage. These days, I can't get very excited about coming here. Now, the smoke bothers me, the drinks suck and are expensive, and the comics are rarely all that funny. Of course if you go on college night (and conveniently hold on to that college ID 2 years after you graduated) it's only a dollar, and it's not that bad. But on Fridays and Saturdays it's like 20 bucks. Pfft, screw that! I'm not paying 20+ bucks and then another 30 on drinks to sit at a cramped table and hear some lame observations about Highway 40 and hoosiers at the zoo. The Funny Bone must be doing something right to be open after all this time, while other comedy clubs have an average shelf life of two and a half months. I have no idea why the Funny Bone is still going strong after all this time, but the college nights keep me coming back. read more

The Good: Great place to see some comedy (depending on who is there obviously) The Bad: I hate that they allow smoking during the show, in a small, closed up room. Also I think I was almost sitting on my neighbors lap, the seats are SOO close together. I also don't like the fact that you HAVE to buy 2 drinks after paying for a ticket and if you have a group of people (like 8) they will NOT split up the bill so you can pay separately, so they make you spend money and then will not work with you as far as paying. I have been here twice. The first time I saw Kevin Nealon and it was great! The room was packed that night. I really like the overall venue. It's small and intimate. But funny bone you gotta make some improvements They only have 2 non smoking shows a week. I would really love to go to an open mic night or on Thursdays when students only have to pay a dollar but because of my Athsma I can't. Please funny bone make more non smoking shows!!! Secondly there needs to be a wider variety of acts. I notice a lot of the same people come back often. And most of the acts are men. Funny bone! More variety would be nice. I've probably been to this place at least 20 times so it can't be all that bad... hehe Obviously it's funny, and some acts are better than others. The drinks are expensive... the two drink minimum can be frustrating for someone that doesn't drink alcohol or isn't in the mood that night... ($4-5 for a bottle of water) really? The acts were funny but very raunchy and vulgar. It kind of made you cringe a bit. It was not a smoke free environment which is a disappointment. The room is small so you pretty much have zero clean oxygen to inhale. Its a bit cramped, actually its very cramped and you become elbow buddies with the person next to you.
